I will always agree with Yay Destiny Diva, but the answer to the riddle is more than 0.

But were they going to St. Ives? ;-)

  • lfbno7 said on Nov 28, 2007....
Does St. Ives have room for lots of kittens?
  • fearing said on Nov 28, 2007....
    I guess 240 legs.  7 girls = 14 legs.  7 cats = 28 legs.  7 kittens per adult cat = 49 kittens which equals 196 legs.......14 + 28 + 196 = 238 PLUS the 2 legs of the bus driver (wink) is 240 legs.

I wuz gonna say that dessy~~~ no fair...... cept i wuz gunna say not even wheels cuz theys under nont on P~~~~~ hehee  other wise id say 72
  • Twylarants said on Nov 28, 2007....
1482?  That can't be right.  Unless the cats are octo-pussies.  Ha ha ha ...
  • wakingharmony said on Nov 28, 2007....
    240
  • wakingharmony said on Nov 28, 2007....
lol fearing that is whatr i did add the buss briver
  • lfbno7 said on Nov 29, 2007....
more cats. thousands of cats. thousands of legs. crowded bus.
  • Fallyn said on Nov 29, 2007....
    okay......1 bus driver...that's 2 legs.
    7 girls....that's 14 more legs
    49 bags
    343 adult cats that's 1372 more legs
2401 kittens...but it didn't say if the kittens were in the bags or not.
but that would be 9604 more legs.

    so ...all together, 10992 legs.

but only if the kittens are in the bags too.
  • polarheart said on Nov 29, 2007....
This math "problem" can only be solved if it conclusively stated that all people on the bus have the correct number of legs and none are legless.  Furthermore, it also needs to state that there aren't any other people on the bus with the 7 little girls.  We can assume that there is a bus driver, but actually that also needs to be stated.  And as Fallyn said, it also needs to be stated whether or not the kittens are with the cats who are on the bus. . .etc etc etc

  • Twylarants said on Nov 29, 2007....
In that case I'm changing my answer to 3.
  • wakingharmony said on Nov 29, 2007....
    yeah!
  • wakingharmony said on Nov 29, 2007....
ok ...if they are little and riding on a school bus they should be sitting...therefore their little legs cant reach the floor so if touch is an issue then I say only 1 1/4 foot  of the bus driver cause one foot is on the gas...wait!! that is a foot not a leg ...so 2........... my other answer is 44 because he just sats that the 7 cats have 7 kittens and not that they are with them......then there is the fact that cats arent allowed on school busses and that would leave 16 legs.....
Is lennie on the bus observing all this?
     heheh
  • Twylarants said on Nov 29, 2007....
What if the bus driver is allergic to cats? And he got out of the bus to get nasal spray and tissues, and forgot to set the parking brake and the bus is careening wildly down Main Street.  That's two less legs.
  • skald said on Nov 29, 2007....
lol I like the answerers. I figured out wrong because I read wrong and then as someone said the bus has wheels. The feet are in the bus or what?
  • PassionTraveler said on Nov 29, 2007....
1,582 not counting the bus driver. 1584 with the bus driver's legs. And this presumes no tripod animals or one-legged humans and all are present on the bus.

If you need the math, I'll do it separately.

    Bad math, my bad. Correction:

9,618 not counting the bus driver. 9,620 with the bus driver's legs. And this presumes no tripod animals or one-legged humans and all are present on the bus.

If you need the math, I'll do it separately.

  • fearing said on Nov 29, 2007....
Uhmmmm PassionTraveler....I'm gonna need the math.

  • PassionTraveler said on Nov 29, 2007....
Okay, wrong again...I'm catching my own math as I keep posting! LOL... damn this is convoluted... One more try:

IF... there are 7 little girls riding down Main Street in a school bus, & Each girl carries 7 book bags, & Each bag contains 7 adult cats, & Each cat has 7 kittens, THEN, How many legs are on the bus?

    Establishing attendance:

    • 7 girls x 7 book bags each = 49 book bags on the bus
    • 49 book bags x 7 adult cats each =  343 adult cats on the bus
    • 343 adult cats x 7 kittens each = 2,401 kittens on the bus
    • 1 bus driver (possibly)

    Establishing legs:

    • Total number of 2-legged attendees:
      • 1 bus driver x 2 legs = 2 legs
      • 7 girls x 2 legs = 14 legs
    • Total number of 4-legged attendees
      • 343 adult cats x 4 legs = 1,372 legs
      • 2,401 kittens x 4 legs = 9,604
Total Number Of Legs On the Bus:
    • The Leg Math:
      • + 2 bus driver legs
      • + 14 Girl Legs
      • + 1,372 Adult Cat Legs
      • + 9,604 Kitten Legs
      • = 10,992 Total Legs On The Bus

PT - You're good.  I missed the 7 book bags part.  lol!
  • PassionTraveler said on Nov 29, 2007....
Thanks Fearing, but I just saw Fallyn got it before me, and I didn't pay attention. LOL.

Oh well, let's give others a chance to take a stab at it. We may be wrong, and then lfbno7 will let us know the answer later I'm sure.. hopefully in a different post so others attempting this much later won't have the answer spoiled.

    PT
  • Twylarants said on Nov 29, 2007....
okay, I got it now.  I'm changing my answer again to Fallyn's and PT's.
why is this so difficult to figure out?
  • PassionTraveler said on Nov 29, 2007....
It's the bags that trip you up! :P

    PT
  • Twylarants said on Nov 29, 2007....
Oh yeah, you're right PT!  When I first started the math, I multiplied the number of bags (49) by 4 legs instead of the number of cats in the bags.  Jeez, what a dope...
  • lfbno7 said on Nov 29, 2007....
Fallyn and PT win the prize, and the prize happens to be 1,000 kittens. Congratulations.
  • PassionTraveler said on Nov 29, 2007....
    Haha lfbno7!

I do love kittens, but my roommate has issues with the two felines with which I already share residence. Something tells me 1,000 kittens would likely start a world war. ;)

I'd play Santa Claus though and share them with kids around the world. Whatcha say Fallyn?

I'll get the sleigh ready, if you get the peripheral supplies ready... litter box, starter food, and a present box with holes in them, numbering a 1,000? If we hurry, we should be able to do the drops easily in a few hours. Hell if I (I being Santa Claus) can make a drop to EVERY child worldwide in one night, a few hundred cute kittens would be a breeze!

Pick you up in my sleigh Christmas Eve.

lfbno7, where would be easier for you to deliver said kittens? ;)

    i can't stop laughing.

thanks for the thousand kittens...do we have to each have 500? or do we each get a thousand???

    wow......that's a lot of kittens.
    that's too many kittens.
where the hell did you get a thousand kittens?
what if we say no, i don't want a thousand kittens? what then?
    huh ....huh.....HUH????
