for me it's humor.
every damn time.
since 1st grade. ......when i fell in love with the kid that twirled pencils in his hair. and stuck spit wads up his nose.

every crush on a boy i have ever had was because of how much they made me laugh.
stupid boys always getting me in trouble....i can't count how many times the teacher would be talking to me...."dont laugh it only encourages him"

matt and jon, aaron, *sigh*.......all of them .....jim carrey. completely ...and now my guy.......i can't help it! they're soooo funny

and then.....when my cheeks start hurting.......that's when i know that i've fallen again.

does anyone else have a certain trait that they fall for?

A nice smile is to die for! Seriously.... a good smile can go a long way if you'd ask me. Of course, there's the looks which could be determinative too. The sexy body is likewise attractive to my taste. But, they all come second to a smile!

    You know why?

I'm a guy. If a girl doesn't smile at you, she probably ain't into you, worse, she's an unlikeable girl!
  • uniquely-ironic said on Nov 26, 2007....
Charm.  Despite being old enough to know a "smooth line" when I hear one I never have the good sense to walk away from it.
  • Fallyn said on Nov 26, 2007....
UI......see. i'm the opposite....i fall for the ones that trip over their own feet and their tongues.

then when something smooth actually comes out of their mouths i'm too stunned to say anything.
  • Fallyn said on Nov 26, 2007....
ed, yes, open and honest are really good things. if only those were the things that grabbed me very first i'd be in a lot less trouble.

soul....i've been told that by a few guys. it must be a pretty common attraction.

  • skald said on Nov 26, 2007....
Oh you got me laughing and I understand why you love such guys. They are sweet. But the latter part of your post got me thinking. But is that because I don't know my English well enough. When your cheeks hurt. Do you mean from laughing?
  • lfbno7 said on Nov 26, 2007....
The trait I fall for most is when some girl basically grabs me and takes me over and lets me know that she's my girl and that's that.
  • travelr712 said on Nov 26, 2007....
i always went for the passionate women who had deep seated emotional problems because i have a great need to be needed. i found out that it's a recipe for great friendships, and disasterous love affairs. i'm trying to look for other traits now.
  • the_infernal_optimist said on Nov 26, 2007....
I'm with ed here, although I also like a good (Monty Python-appreciating) sense of humor. ;-) There's just something about people who are open about themselves, even their faults, that gets to me, and raw honesty - about themselves, about me, about anything of value - is part of a short path to my heart.

skald, YES. my smile muscles HURT after spending a day with these guys...that's what i'm talking about......imagine being with jim carrey ALL the time. .....that's what i LOVE.

iffy, wow. does that happen often?

trav...probably a good idea.....i'm trying NOT to be that girl right now.

    ferny....that's so beautiful!

mamie...wow.....that's all it takes? i guess they aren't that common...but wow.
  • travelr712 said on Nov 26, 2007....
fallyn - i know you're not, i never thought you were. we're just becoming friends and i'm glad of that. i've never gotten any impression from you that you were trying to do anything else than that. i guess i probably shouldn't have put that comment on your blog. you can take that one and this one off if you want. i was just reflecting over the qualities of the women i used to have relationships, and how i'm changing that in my life.
  • Fallyn said on Nov 26, 2007....
what? you are confusing me! *grin*
trav...calm down. *grin* it was just an observation!!!
that i know i'm that girl and i don't want to be that girl.......it's good that you don't want to be with that kind of girl.....it's not healthy to either be with a girl like that ...OR to be that girl!!!

  • travelr712 said on Nov 26, 2007....

Fallyn, yeah, it happens now and then. It's how I got married, and how I got into several other relationships too.
  • Fallyn said on Nov 26, 2007....
    mine too.......
  • PassionTraveler said on Nov 26, 2007....
Fallyn: Hmmm.... That's tough to narrow down.

But I'm with Ed, first and foremost, I'm incredibly open and down to earth, so I think I'm drawn to that in others as well.

But a close second would be intelligence especially if paired with good communication.

lfbno7, that's a dangerous trait to seek! That smacks of insecurities too. You actually go for someone solely because they are into you? That suggests you don't think you are good enough to wait fro the right one, and that anyone who goes for you will do. So the first one that comes along and does, you jump at them! That's a good way to get into some potentially bad relationships. I hope I'm wrong about my perceptions. You certainly are worth it to wait for quality!

The same as yours, Fallyn, it's humor. I love being with people who can make me smile or laugh. I am a very "shallow" person, always love to laugh...
  • Zayda said on Nov 26, 2007....
For me it's the same traits Silver mentioned--openness and honesty. In addition to the openness and honesty, I am really drawn to someone who is also witty and intelligent.
  • hotaka said on Nov 26, 2007....
I gotta admit a girl that makes me laugh and can laugh along with me gets my vote. Basically, I like a person who smiles a lot. A smile and a sense of humour go a long way with me. An animal lover too scores big points, and I don't mean just mammals. My K loves reptiles and even has an interest in insects. I really love that about her. She loves dinosaurs too. She's really cool!
  • Fallyn said on Nov 27, 2007....
lioness, how do you mean shallow?

zay.......that seems pretty common and it makes a lot of sense

dee. i understand what you mean.

hotaka....that's SO sweet. K sounds so cool!

as for the rest of mine......being able to keep me in stitches is just the thing that draws me to a person. and makes me want to be around them all the time.

i also want someone who is understanding, exceptionally interesting, and very very kind. open and honest is good too.

Yes, I have to agree that a great sense of humor gets me every time.  Do you remember Cheech and Chong?  The first album they put out called "Big Bamboo" had the skit about the Germans and the 'old man' (Zay are killing ze girl tonight, olt man!  Sign ze papers!).  It was always one of my favorites, but I hadn't heard it in years.  I'd only been dating my husband for a short while when we were over at a friend of mine's.  She and her roommate had just bought a house, and they were hollering from one room to the other about the documents that had to be signed.  One of them made the fatal mistake of asking, "What do the papers say?"  Immediately, my husband came out with the spiel, "Zay are simply a shtatement to say zat you haf not been mistreated while you haf been here!"  I hit the deck in wild fits of uncontrollable laughter, while my friend and her roommate looked at us as though we were possessed.

Aw yes, @Fallyn, a kind man.
    :))
Not shy but introverted with pretty much anyone he senses will judge him.
(Because he is very sensitive,  feels and senses deeply and intensely the world around him, and everything in and about it)
    Very open minded.
No, I AM NOT DESCRIBING A PARTICULAR MAN
A talented man, maybe a poet, but a musician just to keep it on a sexy side rather than intellectual, 'intellectuals', or they  consider themselves that, are those people who never have the guts to be sexy!(Got nothing against asexual, just wouldn't want to sleep with them)
    :))
No,  I am NOT describing a particular man.
Maybe tall, 6' 1'' with dark hair....No,I am not describing a particular man, hey....:P
    Maybe 28:))
No I am not describing......hell yes I am:))
    :))
I used to have a type I would fall for.
    Short men,  5' 6'', 5' 7'' or 5' 8', that worked out.I liked tattoos, and long hair.
Than I fell in love, so deeply, with a tall naturally built fella, that hates anything but jogging coz it bores him, and has zero tattoos.
If the chemistry between two souls is right the bodies can but comply....
    Yes sir....
    Aw yes ma'm.............
    :))
And guys, I'm not drunk, I  promise! It's jsut that,  the extended weekend's over here,(in Homer Simpson's voice)-- must  work today DO'H  Now, don't get me wrong, me likes working but it's got nothing on laying on my floor listening to Croatian chansone all day long!
    :))

  • karta.devera said on Nov 27, 2007....
@Fallyin--Aw yes, they call it LJUBAV here, it means LOVE
    :))
Regarding more of the "type thing"....
I was always, all my life, attracted to fellas 10 or 15 years older
than myself, and then I fell in love with a man that is actually a
    couple of months younger....
My point being, are there really any rules, or we just think that???
    Am I hoggin' this thread?
    :))
  • Fallyn said on Nov 27, 2007....
    there really aren't any rules.

Fallyn:  Yeah, I don't know what it is, but they are irresistible.  But it's hard for me to draw them out, because I'm shy too, lol.  It does make for a great buildup of tension, though.  :)

    Traits of the other? hmm...
Well first, I'd like to comment on minniemouses comment. You are right, it is said that you will be (at least to a degree) attracted to someone who reminds you of your parent, at least subconsciously.
Which brings me to my 2nd point.
I am attracted to those who are completely, totally and utterly insane.
    LoL
While it does seem a bit... odd, I can almost always tell if a woman is nuts.
Seems the more I like her, the more fracking NUTS she is.
And yes, that is an innuendo towards my parental unit. o_O

In all seriousness, take nearly any woman who was a "60's kid", give her that basic look, and I am in trouble, add in some real baby blues, and I would be in serious trouble.

Keeper Husband looks like James Taylor.
