Ice skating on the cities pond.
We call it a pond but English speaking call it a lake. I don't know why. I took those pictures from my newspaper web. Old pictures of children having fun on the pond. I did too once upon a time, even thought I did not have skates until I was 17. What fun it was to glide on the ice and I felt like I was flying. Surely some boys would give me their hand or their scarf and they would let me hold it so I could even glide faster. Well these pictures talk. .

one of the things i loved to do as a young girl was skate.

i got my first pair at 12.  and then each year my dad would take us to this very unique place--kind of a junk salesman guy ---he sold EVERYTHING.  And one of the things he 'specialized' in was trading ice skates and selling used ice skates.  he also sharpened our blades....

when my children were little....i would take them skating.

by then i had forgotten what i knew.  it wasn't quite like riding a bike, and there was much i had forgotten-

but not the fun.  you're right.  it was great fun!

Quiet.  Yes, those were good times, were they not? Thanks Quiet.
Secret.  I think you are right , it is not like riding a bike. I wound no go now because of my back I must not fall or I think so at least.
Thanks for sharing this with me, I see it in my mind. I bet you liked going to the junk sales man. Yes, skating was great fun and you felt so refreshed afterwards and I remember how strange it felt when I had my regular shoes on again.
Wombat.  Yes, you are right there is something sticking out. It is a tractor that fell in and on the picture you can see a policeman. They have changed uniforms since then.

Great pictures Skald, I dont know why I didn't see this earlier. Yes the pictures do talk and it doesn't seem like they are talking from the past either.

When I was young, I got skates, but there were only puddles to skate on. We never left our mountain to skate haha, but skated on those stupid puddles. I never really learned.

Oh I bet the boys let you glide along with them haha............
