As a milk allergy sufferer, and someone who is dating a lactose-intolerant person, I should probably be with PETA on this one, but frankly, I f***ing hate PETA.

They appear to have created a kid-friendly website called "Milk Sucks" in order to destroy the joy of milkshakes and ice cream bars everywhere.  While they are right, humans aren't really designed to drink milk, Peta has this nifty way of presenting out-of-context facts in just such a way that they benefit their argument, and in turn, irritate the shit out of me.

honestly, milk sucks is appalling!
While you're there, make sure you check out the milk suckers.  Milk-Stealing Ming and Chubby Charlie are my favorites.  Ugh.

Besides, I love my pets.

Why does it irritate you? I took a look at it and just thought of it as a counter attack to all the milk advertising on tv. I used to love strawberry milkshakes but I'm afraid to have them now because of the bellyaches. I know that the dairy industry is a huge contributor to political campaigns. Anyone who contributes to political campaigns is the bad guy in my book. They are up to something, they are crooked, they are buying undue influence. There is no reason for an honest industry to give millions to crooked politicians.

you know, PETA should annoy most people. they're zealots who engage in criminal activities to make their point and have a knack for pissing off everyone who doesn't already think as they do. :>

I like the South Park episode about PETA.

Okay, I too have both allergies and lactose intolerance and have (in the past) been a strict vegetarian, but not for animal rights reasons... more for my own personal health reasons.

But that site is just GROSS!

Even if I did want to instill the virtues of vegetarianism and a milk-free life to my kids and family (if I ever have any kids or family), I certainly wouldn't want them to see those types of images. REALLY DISGUSTING. BAD, BAD PETA!

Ok, that's just revolting. Whether you agree with the general principles behind the twisted manifestation there or not, surely you can see that that site goes too far.

Ugh... this is exactly what I was talking about. Special interest groups vilifying themselves in an effort to push their side of the story. Oh, and I love how anyone can tack the word "Harvard" onto any quote they find and call it a convincing argument. This is why I'm opposed to a lot of what PETA tells us. This, much like any other campaign I've seen them take on, is shameless.
