the post dazed had about the lessons her scars have taught her inspired this in me.....

what scars do you have and what is the story behind them?

i have a small scar on the top of my thumb...i had gotten a pocket knife for my birthday and i was whittling...and i closed it on my thumb.

when i smile big or squint i have a dent just under my left eye from a broken cheek bone
when i was four years old i was running around in a store in my socks and i wouldn't put my shoes on and my mom went to swat me on the backside and i tried to duck away from her and my feet went out from under me and i hit my face on one of the shelves. it looked like i had a walnut under my skin for about a week and a VERY black eye.
we were in a checkout line about 3 days later and the cashier.....just joking....asks me "who hit you your mom or your dad?"
and i say....."my mom." meaning the swat she tried to give me
*laughing* luckily this was way back when CPS wasn't so trigger happy or i could have been taken away right then.

i have a 3 inch scar on the bottom of one foot.
i was six. ...my family rented 4 rooms in an abandoned girls dormitory.....(yes, my life is terribly strange) .....and we used the shower room......we'd bring our soap with us in a jar.
well...the jar broke......my mom told me not to go in that stall......did i listen to her????? HAH.
we ended up in the emergency room and i had 23 stitches.
crutches were FUN!

i have an 8 inch scar on my knee from my ex and a broken picture frame. fun stuff.

One scar on my arm reminds me of a day...

It was raining and I wanted to sit inside the car to read, but before I did, I swept the rain off the hood--got my forearm blitzted by the metal Chevrolet insignia metal....  back in the 70's.

    Another one?

At work in the stupid factory I used to work in:    A stack of crap fell down and landed on my leg.   I shut off my machine and ran to the other side of the room.  A supervisor came and "doctored" it.  I felt stupid for being a wuss.  But I still bear the scar.....

The scars of the heart would take more time to answer!

Whoops!  Forgot about the scar I got when I was working on a machine and cut my hand bad on a rotating blade.    This was in the days of, "don't let anyone know!"  I put on tape and gloves, kept working, got a "butterfly stictch" from a friend that night.  When I see it now, I remember, don't do that again!

Meaning, don't stick your hand in a rotating blade---especially if you can't tell anyone!

    *laughing* i'm.....lost. *confused*
    you must have edited. :P

i forgot one....but it's not terribly visible......i got my hand caught in the conveyor belt at the newspaper i was working at......there's still a little ball of scar tissue inside my littlest finger. it grabbed ALL the skin off of about half my hand and sucked it in with it......luckily nothing was broken......but GOD THAT HURT.

but goes to show factory jobs SUCK.
  • wombat said on Nov 14, 2007....
Well, I can agree there--factory jobs suck. But somebody has to do it...  I was proud of the work I did there, even if they didn't appreciate me!
  • Fallyn said on Nov 14, 2007....
actually i loved the people there and it was the most fun i have EVER had at work...but my body couldn't take it. it was like digging ditches for 8 hours straight.
  • wombat said on Nov 14, 2007....
Yea, it is the people I remember the most.  I did have fun, and I did do a good job.  I tried to fix some major problems, and made some headway.  But they were having none of that.....
  • Fallyn said on Nov 14, 2007....
*laughing* the problems at my job would have involved wiping the meth problem out of the whole entire town......and that isn't gonna happen any time soon.

i have a scar on the back of my left hand that arose from a fight--and i mean a physical altercation here--w/ a woman with whom i was once "involved", for lack of a better word. it taught me that sometimes, no matter how sexy i find someone, that doesn't mean diddly squat about her sanity. :>

Well, at least you can laugh alot..ha!  My major problem there was the ladder of success.....don't give your secrets to your boss.  He will claim them as his own.
But I can imagine days where if I wasn't there, it would have been a really bad day.
  • Fallyn said on Nov 14, 2007....
    ed....very good lesson to learn!

i think that's how that factory job was for me too wombat.......sometimes that job saved my sanity......as it was wrecking my health.

    oh....i thought of another scar.
i have a scar on the inside of my elbow.....from an airbag friction burn.....ripped the skin off the whole inside of my arm. ....
  • wombat said on Nov 14, 2007....
Weird you should say that at all...but that job (10 years all told) was one of the "stable" things I had, even if the picture was a little off-center.

I did a good job there, and they can't take that from me!
  • Fallyn said on Nov 14, 2007....
    no they REALLY can't.

see you're more stable than me....though i have my reasons.....
that job i had for 10 months...and that's the longest i've been at a job.

I have a small scat on the top of the thumb of my right hand-did it gutting a fish!
I don't believe this! when  i was about 8 I ran into a fence post. It caught me just under the left eye, nothing broken, but a doozy of a black eye!
I have a 4inch scar on my lower left leg- on the outside but---near the foot
I have a small sickle shaped scar on my Left knee, from a fall as a kid.
    also  have scar from appendectomy

See anything in common here. And a tan car and a blue one!!
  • Fallyn said on Nov 14, 2007....
    *laughing* wow...so much in common.

I forgot three VERY important scars.

all are about 6 inches long across the lowest part of my abdomen.

  • tbs230 said on Nov 14, 2007....
I have quite a few on my left leg. Reminders of getting hit by a car, slipping on wet waxed floors and the complications that arise if you break the same leg twice.
  • Fallyn said on Nov 14, 2007....
    tbs. OUCH.
  • wantingmore said on Nov 15, 2007....
Believe it or not...I have a scar on my lip - of the lower set - from when I was a little girl. I jumped in the pool and came up screaming. I hadn't jumped far enough out from the corner and it sliced me open! That's my most memorable, and painful, scar.
  • Fallyn said on Nov 15, 2007....
that SUCKS. and isn't funny at ALL.

  • wantingmore said on Nov 15, 2007....
It certainly wasn't funny at the time!

Heh, nice post Fallyn. I have a mini scar in my right knee, a reminder of those bicycle-riding learning days.

Another in my left knee, when I fell off a bus when we went on a convention.
  • Fallyn said on Nov 15, 2007....
lioness. *laughing* i was gonna say "cool" but....i'm not sure if that's the right response. *grin*

actually i like some of my scars. they remind me of a very carefree childhood.
  • Lioness said on Nov 15, 2007....
Oh, me too.. I eventually learned how to ride a bike. Hahaha..
  • Fallyn said on Nov 15, 2007....
i eventually learned how to fun without tripping..... :P

I have a gigantic scar on the crown of my head.  I got it when I was 4 yrs. old, and thru the years I have had to be very creative with my hair dos to cover it.  Now, I don't much care if it shows or not.  but this memory is a painful one.

I had to buy another pack of cigarettes this morning, not really knowing why I did because just recently I was praying so hard to God to help me quit…and I did-for about 3 moths....
If I only knew then what I know now.
