Wo.  It is nice to be warm in here tonight!

We just spent two days without heat--the system just went ka-poowee.

Finally got a tech out here and found out that we had a clogged "coupling" as he called it.

This dude in cover-alls tore apart our furnace, crawled under the house, left a mess in the hallway that I had to step over to get to my toothbrush--but he eventually found the problem.

It seems that we had a clogged coupling, which he cleaned with his bucket and brushes or something or another. I don't know, and I don't care.   He did see me in my housecoat and no make-up and my hair all a mess--but did I care?  (Yes, I did, a little!)

But after two nights of sleeping with my nose covered up, and my feet reaching for warmth under the covers?

Clogged coupling, my a...

I am just glad to know that tonight I can go to sleep, and not wonder if that funny smell is something that will be my last.

OOHH... I've had the lovely experience of the plumbing, too.  I was staying in someone else's apartment, and so I thought I had to keep mopping and cleaning it up to "save the carpets."  I found out later they were just going to rip them up and put in all new after that happened.  I would have just left it and stayed out of that stink if I had known that!  Some people upstairs got mad, turned on all their faucets and left.  After things were "fixed," it started "raining" in the closet!

speaking of apartment living......we woke up one morning to find a lake in our hallway and laundry room.......someone upstairs had a hot water tank go out.....and it leaked through the ceiling.....the landlord came down to look at it....and said you should see THEIR place. *laughing* we had to have part of the floor replaced it got so wet

Fallyn:  These things seem to happen alot in apartments, don't they?  Thank goodness for landlords!
Last year, I unlocked our door (when we had an apt.) heard water running, so I stepped to the kitchen and turned on the light.  It's probably good that I didn't step all the way into the kitchen before I flipped the switch.  Water was pouring out of the ceiling light fixture!  It was the water heater that time, best I remember.

But we also had ice to form in the eaves--then melt backwards.  It ruined the ceilings and even got the upstairs carpets wet.

LOL.  Strange, but I envy you.  We don't have central heating in South Africa.  It would probably not be a bad idea!  We have very cold winters, and our houses are much colder that UK houses - because we just use electrical / gas heaters!  Some people have fireplaces, but still.  There's no real heating in the bedrooms.

Anyway, we don't have any of those worries at the moment, its SUMMER here!!! :)

danetteb:  Thank you for reminding me of how good we actually have it.  Wow, though, I wish it was "SUMMER" here!  We are never happy....

Just had to add that I lived in England for awhile, and nearly froze during the winter--the heat didn't work too well, and I had a small living room with a propane heater.  Too cold to go take a bath, and we put towels in the windows at night--which would be wet and frozen the next morning!

    OK, I appreciate my heat!

Stay cool/Stay warm!  And thanks for responding!

I'm glad you got heating problem fixed.  sometimes those can be costly.
  • queenparanoia said on Nov 14, 2007....
hope you have sweet dreams!!! =)

wombat....it melted backwards????? who's retarded building plan was that?

  • wombat said on Nov 14, 2007....
crybabylu:  I'm glad, too!  We got away cheaply with this--only charged for parts.

Queen:  I dreamed we were packing and moving!  And something about a little boy who was recalling a past life and telling it to me.  Weird...

Fallyn:  I guess that didn't explain it very well.  The ice in the eaves melted and ran down backwards to flood the ceilings in the apartment complex.  Upstairs and down.  So we had wet ceilings in both--and wet carpet upstairs.  So did most of the other apartments.

    that sucks. seriously.

wombie... that's indeed very weird. asked evil twin about the meaning of this dream. he's very good at it! =)
  • wombat said on Nov 15, 2007....
Queen:  I am always dreaming of little children being with me in my dreams--probably my "inner child."  I am usually protecting them in some way.  I have weird dreams every night--some are real doozies....
  • queenparanoia said on Nov 15, 2007....
wombie: or maybe you should try starting a dream diary. ask kruyai about it. it could help you understand more about your dreams... =)
  • wombat said on Nov 15, 2007....
Queen:  Yea, a dream diary would be good--but I would probably not feel like waking up and writing them down on the spot.  Later, I can only remember the more colorful parts--I think!  Next time I have one of my "doozies" that I don't understand, I will take your advice and ask kruyai.  Thanks!

I heard about Pandora Radio today, but I guess it's really nothing new. It's a website where you can type in your favorite song, artist, composer etc... and create a streaming station of similar songs.

We had a winter weather advisory going on and the roads were really slick this morning. But, as with anything, there was a pretty side to it. I snapped a photo that I thought I would share with you.

This is the view from my back porch...
