When I was a little kid, I hated going to bed at night.  I had fears of monsters.  I always thought that Dracula was going to get me.

I just knew that Dracula would come in as a mist under my bedroom door.  He would wait for me to fall asleep.  Then he would stand up at the foot of my bed and get me.  The only way I felt safe was to cover myself head to toe with blankets.  Sometimes I would actually peek out from under the blankets fearing he was already there.

Luckily, he never showed up.

Were you afraid of monsters?

Yes. They were under the bed ready to grab me if I were to step out of bed whilst it were still dark. I developed good bladder control at an early age...

    Alyss,
I wouldn't get up in the night either.  I had to go down some stairs and through a couple darkened rooms to get to the bathroom.  There were too many chances for Dracula to get me along the way.  :-)

I had nightmares about Mr. Brown, the monster who was taller than a six story building. I had nightmares of a nameless witch who imprisoned children inside car tire holes. But aside from the nightmares I wasn't afraid of monsters when I was awake. I had my big brother in the room anyway. Never gave it a second thought. Never gave it a first thought. Did those monsters get you too? Or were they only after me.

    lfb,
It was Dracula that I was mainly afraid of.  I was all alone in my room.  Maybe that made a difference.  I probably watched too much Scooby Doo.  :-)

    skald,
A real ghost would have me afraid too.

i too had a monster under my bed. i was a bit disappointed in the film monsters mainly b/c there wasn't a monster that liked to hang out under beds--although it's otherwise a great film i think. :>

i also used to have nightmares about this black sludge-like oozy thing that would engulf me and go up my nose...

    Ed,
Monsters was a cute film.  :-)

It wasn't Dracula for me. It was the unnamed bogey monsters that would drag me away to their soul less lair where I would wither away from lack of love.

Those monsters are still there some nights.

when i was little it was the wicked witch of the west. from OZ.

now it's unnamed terrors that will grab my ankles.

i'm STILL scared of under the bed. .....i'd rather have my mattress right on the floor thankyou.
