The way soulcast is laid out, with topics and all, it's hard to just 'talk' to someone on this thing and have a conversation that doesn't have to stick to any one topic.
So the purpose of this thread is to visualize it as a cafe, and just come and tell me what's on your mind. Talk about your hobbies, talk about the weather, talk about your favorite pet, ask me a question or two...whatever you feel like mentioning. Most likely I'll just end up talking to myself, but I had to put it out there and at least try.

The cafe seemed a little empty. I thought I'd stop in and say hello. Thanks for being a subscriber of mine. I have read a few of your posts now. No comments, but I will return the favour. Look forward to getting to know you. Hope the cafe picks up. It's funny how some blogs get so much attention while others are barren. I guess there are getting to be too many of us now trying to keep up with everyone.

Nice idea. I'd like a latte and an almond croissant please... I'm taking a breather from dealing with the laundry and ironing in preparation for packing for my family's holiday. Sometimes I think holidays are more hassle and stress than they are worth...
• purple said on Aug 01, 2006....
Aren't croissants wonderful? Where are you off to on holiday Alyss? It's okay about the comments hotaka. Sometimes I can read the most brilliant blog, and my mind is a blank on what I can say as a comment. It seems lame to post 'right on, or me too' so I don't post anything. Also, if there are already a dozen comments, and I don't think my words will add anything fresh to the thread, I won't comment. I'm happy with a sincere comment or two here or there.

Fresh croissants are indeed excellent. ;-) I will be enjoying the finer points of camping in the South West. I'm expecting rain and cranky kids and an infuriated husband who has forgotten how to erect the tent from last year. If I am very lucky there will be time for me to read and write. {crosses fingers}

Ahh, the American Southwest... A dream that almost came true for me. Maybe next time. I'll eat a croissant with maple syrup frosting and almonds and think of you.
• purple said on Aug 02, 2006....
Are you camping on my front lawn then? You can do what my neighbors did; practice setting up your tent before you go.
• purple said on Aug 02, 2006....
Alyss, you just gave me an idea. I should make all my posts in Purple! As I lay in bed last night I couldn't help thinking that I'm a coffee house enigma. I don't drink coffee and all, and I only drink hot tea when I have a sore throat. But if I have to choose between coffee houses and bars, I'd go with the coffee houses, because I don't drink either, and it's too dark in a bar to knit or write or draw. So it's the coffee house for me. At least most of them have some version of hot chocolate or soft drinks. My favorite coffee shop ever is Linnea's in San Luis Obispo, CA (on Garden St.). Somehow they've survived the Starbucks invasion. I think that is partly because of their vegetarian menu. And partly because they really support the art community by displaying art on their walls all the time, and having many music and poetry reading events. I haven't yet found a cozy coffee house like that in the Anaheim area (west Orange County) so if any of you know of one, please speak up.

purple: have fun with the colours... I've decided to stick to shades of purple & blue. And no, not camping on your front lawn unless you live on a farm in Devon.

Come to think of it, how DO I make my font purple? I can't see a button for that anywhere.
• purple said on Aug 10, 2006....
Sighs...the Cafe has gotten very quiet. Maybe no one wants to have an ongoing conversation. Maybe no one knows what to say next. Maybe they all went to the movies without me.

[*]Purple <--- purple color test - Hi! Sorry, was over on other pages of yours reading and learning. It's nice to find a virtual Purple Cafe; the RL one down the street from my house is an amzing place to go eat and drink wine with friends.
• hotaka said on Aug 10, 2006....
Isn't it amazing what blogs will attract people? I try to write something interesting and educational and hardly a soul stops by. Then you find a welcome mat to a friendly little place called the Purple Cafe and people just drop in and start chatting. I have to find the gift of getting visitors. More power to ya, Purple!
• Alyss said on Aug 10, 2006....
Purple, if you've not already found out how... You have to enclose the colour name in square brackets so purple would be within the brackets and then close it by tagging /COLOR within the square brackets. ||{1}|| has a post of some length on this.

{purple} hmmm or maybe it's [purple]hmmm or maybe not.

hotaka...I never know what people will read what threads or why. If I was good at marketing I'd be rich by now.

I am amazed at how quickly people like JadeLondon, Zayda, and ALIENated have increased their popularity. I think I'll have to go and make my own group of SoulCast misfits.
• purple said on Aug 12, 2006....
I must warn you hotaka...if you declare yourself a misfit, everyone will rush over and try to fix you. I call it 'white knight syndrome'. I have odd and eclectic interests. Some of my posts are so out there, they haven't been viewed even once.
• hotaka said on Aug 12, 2006....
I'll take a look now. My vacation plans got cancelled. Would you believe my driver's license expired and I didn't even notice? I wrote about it but it's probably not interesting to most people. And it's a long post.
• purple said on Aug 13, 2006....
Why did you cancel your vacation plans? Maybe I can go find your post. That is if my browser will stop crashing.
• purple said on Aug 13, 2006....
Ok, I found it and I read it and that is quite the story. One little detail and the whole house of cards can come tumbling down. I really wish that clerk had never seen the problem.

Recently I found more great writers over on my newbie thread here: ||{1}|| So if you are in the cafe and want to meet some new people, hop over there and read some new listings.

Alyss, I finally got around to taking your advice and going to read Expendable's 'how to change colors' post. So now I am a happy purple camper. Thanks.

Just a reminder that I will be gone Friday Aug. 18 through Mon. Aug. 21.
• hotaka said on Aug 18, 2006....
My post about my hike in the mountains should be up by the time you get back. Thanks for your concern for me and my vacation plans. I appreciate it.

Enjoy your weekend purple.

Well, I am back. Soulcast seems to have gone south while I was gone, and there are a lot of angry regulars. Maybe mercury is in retrograde or something, because I feel like Murphy has moved in with me. Usually when things get this complicated mercury is in retrograde, or there is a pending eclipse, or both.

I want to keep the Cafe going but I can't do it alone. Is anyone out there?
• hotaka said on Sep 05, 2006....
Yes, there is. You don't happen to have any Java Chip frapaccinos, do you? I am hooked on them and have to have one everytime I pass a Star Buck's.

Hi purple; sorry life got in the way somewhat but I am still here!

So anyone reading anything interesting at the moment?
• hotaka said on Sep 06, 2006....
I am still reading Michio Kaku's Hyperspace. Almost everyday I want to post something I read. But I wonder how many people will find that stuff interesting.
• purple said on Jun 28, 2007....
The last book I read was Ruled Brittania by Harry Turtledove. (Sorry Harry, if I didn't get the title right). It's a fictitious account of what life would have been like in Shakespear's day if Spain had overthrown England. A very delicious book.
