Okay, I did just post that I just got this laptop back (from staples).  They found nothing wrong.
The problem I was/am having is that I was trying to burn a CD - first it would not recognize that I had a CD in the tray.  Then, I thought it fianlly did burn it (music)...so I went to play it in my truck..nope it said "check CD"...it wouldn't play in my radio at home either.
So....Took it to staples, it was there for almost a week.  And they found nothing wrong...I picked it up today.
Okay, here is the thing...the tech actually burned the CD for me right there at the store...all my music downloaded on to this disc.  Great!!!
I got in my truck with my puter, put the CD into my player......guess what...check CD...wont play.  I got home, put it into my radio...nope...wont play.
I put it into my laptop...and it plays..but I am thinking myabe its becaue the songs are already on my computer in a file?  I loaded these all on to an MP3 and that works?

Any suggestions?  Help? Ideas? or is it just me?  Maybe I have a curse of the oldies music on me!  LOL

Too technical for me...alas...wish I could help. I can't play my radio in my truck unless I am 'just so" centered in the universe.....

Hope someone can help!    Hi friend, though!

some equipment is very selective and will not play burnt CD,s or will play some brands of CD but not others. I don't know what brands you have over there. I find L.G. and T.D.K. are OK Try a different brand of Blank CD is my thought. You are probably wasting time and money going to a techie as your computer checked out OK.

what rupe said: your stereo might simply not recognize MP3s as music. if it's more than a few years old, that'll happen. try throwing your CD into your DVD player if you have one--that should play it.

Thanks everyone ~ I am going to try a different format.  I was told that it might be that...what ever software I am using to load it, is only good for my laptop and not anything else...beats the heck out of me...I will give my DVD player a try.  too high tech for me...LOL I will just keep my MP3 handy...that will work! (I hope)

Mt CD player in my car does not want urned CD and also CD that might be robbed by a company who sells it. It does not eject them out again and now I have had a CD in for a month. Would like to get it out but I have stopped thinking about it. What Rube says is right.

i would try itunes, it's the easiest music player I've ever used. As others have mentioned, you have to burn it in the right format which we are unsure if you are doing.

I have found that some cd players will recognize the music on a homemade cd and others won't. I've had the same thing happen to me. Technology changes so rapidly, there are so many different brands out there, and so many different models, I guess it should be no surprise that it isn't a one size fits all situation.

Oh, well, I guess I will just use my MP3 then..forget the rest!  Its over my head as far as looking up formats etc.  thanks guys!

that's why I recommend itunes, it's doesn't require much effort from users :)

put the songs you want in a playlist and click burn. It will burn them in the right format for a regular CD but if there isn't enough room it will tell you and ask if you want to burn them as mp3's instead (mp3's take up less space than the format used on regular music cd's).

seriously guys...I had heard of it, bu thought itunes was another like ipod type gadget..sorry LOL not up on all this fancy stuff..LOL  Thanks for the link and I will definately give it a try....
oh, p.s.  you gotta remember I am a hick from the sticks...we just got lectricity here not long ago.

no worries, I was born a hick, but now i'm one of those big city liberal elites or something. Seriously, my family is very country. My mom lives in the middle of no where in west virginia, and I mean the middle of no where. The type of place where bears walk through your yard and most of the food you eat comes from your own land. There are no cell phones and walking to a neighbor's house will take a really really long time.

itunes is related to the ipod in many ways. It is the application you use to put music on an ipod, but it's also used for general music management and burning cd's. In my opinion it's by far the best app for managing music on your computer.

Thanks bloc...I am going to try it today.  My brother is into all this electronic stuff big time with his 1080i etc surround sound HD etc..bla bla bla...as long as it works, what ever it is...its okay with me.  Yes, your family sounds like about where I lived...I now live in the city, but there has been know to have a deer or a moose wander through the back yard still.
