Arguably the most important one is how to get more traffic to your blog, website, article or whatever it is that you publish.
There isn't much point in writing something if no-one is going to read it, so how on eartch do you get these valuable new readers?
There are many many ways, here are some of the best:
- inbound links (the most important)
- These are links from other well known websites of similar topics to your own, which will link back to yours.
- signature links
- if you comment on other blogs and websites, leave a link in your signature at the bottom of each post back to your blog.
- email signatures
- stick a link in all your emails back to your blog.
- use RSS
- feedburner, technorati and other sites allow you to post a link to your blog and they will turn it into RSS, which other sites will pick up and link back to your blog with.
- RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication - that is exactly what it is, a really simple way to syndicate your stories and posts.
- forums
- use the web to find forums which discuss issues that you like to blog about, and make a few posts here and there. Get involved with those communities and build up a name for yourself. Don't forget to stick a signature link into the bottom of all of the posts on those that you make too. Each one of them will be picked up by search engines like google and count towards your 'inbound link count'.
- the higher this count is from relevant sources, the more natural search engine traffic you will get.
