all right, you all know about the thing where you take a wishbone and you and someone else make a wish, then see who comes away with the bigger piece, right?

well, we had a whole roasted chicken last week and we've been drying the wishbone. so we kinda remembered it last night--shocking, considering we were drinking--and we went to make our respective wishes.

now, you might expect that one of us got the bigger part or whatever but of course, that sorta story doesn't lead to blog entries, now does it? :>

so we both pulled, and it snapped loudly--and the middle part with the extra bit of bone sticking up--broke away from both ends! so we have no idea who got their wish now!

now, under the assumption that whoever has the bigger piece gets their wish, i think my wife will get hers, but of course, you're never supposed to tell anyone what you wished for so i guess i'll never know if she got her wish or not.

so who would you guys say gets their wish?

I'd say that neither of you does and both of you do.  So perhaps you will both get part of your wish.

Thats funny, I have never seen that happen!  I'd say that neither would get the wish.  But then, who needs one...when you are happy and content anyway.  right? right!!

Sounds like an omen to me.

u-i: or maybe we just get three pieces of wishbone?

quietone: yeah, i never heard of that happening either.

beyond: if so, what does it signify?

Ed- Well, in my house it would signify to let it be her wish.

Food might taste better later that way (or better yet, she may have wished for you).

well, her segment of bone was bigger so i promptly told her that she got her wish anyway. i'm pleased to see that we are of the same opinion. :>

I would call it a tie and grant both wishes.  House rules.  :-)

Could it be that you both wished for the same thing, thus the middle part "winning" the snap? :)

no idea--c'mon, you know you can't tell someone a wish you made!

I'm with the  infernal  optimist, I think you both wished the same thing, only we'll know if your wish comes true and she tells you that was her wish, or it could also mean, you canceled each out.  Ouch!   Oh yeah, Ed, this is how I make a smile...:)

     I'm sending one your way!

i had always heard that the one to get the middle part won....so....evidently your wish was thrown out to the universe....maybe someone got it who needed it more?
  • Mamie said on Oct 30, 2007....
I kinda think it means that you secretly wished for the same thing and that it will come true!
  • silverwhisper said on Oct 30, 2007....
    thanks, dee!

fallyn: you know, i like that interpretation! :>

    mamie: that's possible--i certainly hope so! :D

    LOL Grape.
I think you'll both get your wish, but I've never seen that happen :-)

See, I've always heard the same thing Fallyn has--whoever gets the middle part gets the wish. So, I think the wish went flying off to someone else who needed it.
  • silverwhisper said on Oct 30, 2007....
grape: meh, it's tasty and lower on the food chain. screw 'im!

    battycat: until then, me neither!

super z: see, that's the funny thing--there's something to have been heard about this?! but hey, there's always someone who needs a thing more than i do, i figure. :>
