I think this is probably going to get swept under the rug so I wanted to make a post about it. Mel Gibson was just arrested for speeding (he had a blood alcohol level of 0.12 ) and while being arrested went on an anti-Semitic tirade.
The sheriff's department tried to cover that up by re-writing the original report. It's not illegal to be anti-Semitic, just like it's not illegal to be a rascist of any kind, but I'd just like to make a little noise about this because I don't like what Gibson seems to stand for, which I believe is nothing more than a violent, primitive outlook on the world with rascist, entitled views.
Now he's probably going to garner a bunch of sympathy by admitting to "battling alcoholism" when anyone else would already be spending time in jail with his driver's license already shredded.

I actually saw the story online. It was on the Drudge Report. To follow up, Mel Gibson did release a statement apologizing for his conduct, and as you said, he did mention "battling alcoholism" several times. It's true. Hollywood is aristocratic in many ways. Just like Cheney shooting his friend in the face and tell the cops to come back later, Mel can say"Oops I did it again", and people say, "Oh that Mel". I think it may be due to their high visibility(profile) that somehow elevates them from justice. I don't think it's right at all. Sure, Mel can say what ever he wants. That's what makes this country great, but there needs to be consequences for his actions(drunk driving, and disorderly conduct). The law needs to be applied the same way to everyone, from the lowliest streetperson to the president of the United States. That's what justice is all about. No one should be given special treatment in the eyes of the law. -

What you say is true. Although he went off at the Mouth in a manner that he should not have. I still like his movies. He has made a fool out of himself for degrading another belief but he is entitled to make mistakes - Just like you or I.It just shows what having an extream amount of money can do for a person. How is it that if one says anything about Israel not jews themselfs but Israel they are labeled as jew hater. Has anyone wondered why our leaders either party keep saying that we have to protect Israel. AIPAC money that is why. They are bought and sold by Israel maybe that is what Mel was ranting about. Israel have not been invaded quite the opposite .They have nukes. They have their own military and a good one. No one has done anything to Israel they are commiting apparte and war crimes just as we are .The lives of Arabs or Iranians does not mean anything to anyone . No I disagree ,there are external problems happening along with internal. I am just trying to make the point that he may have been misunderstood in his ranting. There is a saying and that is 'there is no such thing as a little bit of free speach' . I am just saying that if one says anything against Israel or its policys then they are considered a anti semite.I think name calling of any sorts or hatred is unproductive. But and this is a big but our elected government seems to be more concerned with protecting a country that spends a lot of money on them rather then taking care of their own. It could also be considered reverse discrimanation. He was deinking and that is no excuse for driving while doing so and if he said nasty things about people then ignore him but was it about people or a policy.
