JK Rowling has stated that she has always felt Dumbledore was gay. I wonder why. I never got that feeling the entire time I read the books. Now please don't think that I'm trying to downtrod gays. I don't believe gays are inferior. But it never once occured to me that Dumbledore was gay. My reasons are thus:
It was obvious that Dumbledore thought highly of Harry but that could have been because of who Harry was. Dumbledore could have been infatuated with him because he recognized, being the genius that he was, Harry's potential. And he recognized that because of the encounter Harry already had with Voldemort. Everyone was infatuated with Harry because of that. So why would that make Dumbledore gay?
Then there's the friendship with Grindewald. He was another genius with whom Dumbledore could relate. Finally, there was someone with whom Dumbledore could talk about all his ideas. So why wouldn't he latch onto him? It's not every day a genius runs into another.
So unless I missed something, I didn't see anything in the books that gave me any indication that Dumbledore was gay. So what do you think, folks? Did I miss something? I'd love to hear your viewpoints.
