I don't know anything for sure yet, but there is a very good chance that the place where we were supposed to get married is not going to be available anymore. It might have burned down!!!

*cries*

I tried to call the place and there was no answer. But it could have been too late, or they could be evacuated or it could be gone. I'm not sure yet. I looked on a map of some of the areas that had burned down, and the wedding location is 15 miles away from a place that I know is gone now. And the fire is big! So..........maybe no wedding there?

*cries again*

We are not sure what to do yet. It might be ok, but right now we don't know. The fire is in the mountains where the place is, so even if it's ok now, it might not stay that way.

I am worried and a little sad and slightly panicked......but at the same time, people have lost their houses. I can't really feel too sorry for myself. But I still do a little..........I just hope everything is ok for everyone and that they stop the fires soon :(

I'll keep you posted if I know more.

We'll just keep our fingers crossed, babe. But you know, even if it is gone, we'll just find someplace else. Or we could just do what I keep telling you we should do...It's always an option :-) It'll all work out. But it does suck a little. I really liked that place.

You know I was wondering about this. I wasn't sure exactly where the place was though. That really sucks, you guys. But if it's gone, you'll find someplace else.

And Kyle, what is this thing you keep telling her you guys should do? Does it have anything to do with Vegas?

Mom will kill you. Unless you invite her too. Keep me posted cutie twins.

I just wanted to comment again and let everyone know that we're safe. We're not actually close enough to the fires to worry. But the wedding location was in the mountains where one of the fires is burning. So we still don't know. Everything is pretty crazy right now.

And Jack, no, I'm not talking about Vegas. But you're not too far off :-P

Nattie and Kyle.......that really sucks... plus, on top of a situation that is so unstable and sad.....

i am glad to read you guys are far away from the fire.

You will find another place, i am sure....relax....:-)

Waking, the wedding location was in the Malibu mountains. So it's not looking too promising right now. Although I did hear a report that they were finally getting that fire contained a little. San Diego is much worse off. I hope your family is alright too.

Oh Natalie!  That's awful!  I will keep my fingers crossed that the fire somehow finds a way to burn somewhere else.  I know how pretty and special the ranch was for you and Kyle.  Don't give up yet, it's not "officially burnt" until they say so.

Hey if you guys get married in Vegas, I have a comped room and plane ticket for two!  I might be there working anyway!  So I'm biased, I totally vote for Vegas lol!
Just kidding, I'm sure you guys will find somewhere even better, if it's fate, there's a reason!  But here's a tissue anyway Nat, don't cry :(  And don't feel bad for feeling sorry for yourself on top of everything else, it's human nature, it' s natural and there is nothing wrong with a little self pity!
  • exhibit_c said on Oct 23, 2007....
nursecutie, as long as Kyle doesn't burn down, all will be well.
  • destinydiva said on Oct 23, 2007....
aaw nat I am so sorry to hear that, I'll keep my fingers crossed for you that it hasnt... but I do believe everything happens for a reason and if it has burnt down...then maybe there is an even more perfect place for you two to get married? When is the wedding? (((((((((((hugs))))))))))) xx

You guys, please check in annoyingly (to you) often - those fires are really scaring me, because I have a lot of friends scattered throughout California, as well as family in San Jose.

Fingers crossed that your wedding place escapes the fires.

Hi, Hopefully everything will be green for your wedding... I also have cousins in the area and wonder what is going on with them...hopefully you both and your three cats will stay safe...that is the most important part, life is important,--- things, even nice things are replacable...living also in an earthquake zone, and in a place where a mudslide took half the city in the 1930's--we have emergency suitcases both in the car and by the door, including cat food.. my father used to say, "Plan for the worst and hope for the best".

Hi nursecutie! I am glad that you and ET aren't in danger but sad for you about your wedding choice! Hopefully it didn't get burned. This has been a crazy week!
  • CreativeWoman said on Oct 23, 2007....
I have been wondering if you guys were being affected by the fires.  I'm glad to hear you are safe, but am saddened about the wedding location.  You still have each other and I'm sure you will find someplace even more special if you have to.

    Stay safe!

Hi Natty. Feeling better today about this?

It's really unfortunate and sucks something fierce for all the people who lost their homes. This shit is crazy.

But even if you have to find someplace else, it won't matter. You could get married at city hall and I bet it would still rock because you're marrying my brother.

    Cheer up buttercup.

  • Zeasea said on Oct 23, 2007....
Sorry to hear that. I will keep high hopes for you that it is ok. And that he wedding goes off without a hitch.
  • nursecutie said on Oct 23, 2007....

Thank you all for your comments :) I feel so selfish for being upset about this when I know others have much worse things to worry about with these fires. I might have lost a wedding location, but I still have my home. So forgive my selfishness :(

I still don't know if the place is alright or not. The roads up there are all closed and the phones don't seem to be working there either. I sent an email too, but it would make sense that I wouldn't hear back if no one is there. So I just have to wait!

But it's ok. I have realized that it doesn't really matter where we do it. So many of you brought that up, and you are all right :) I am still the luckiest girl in the world! And we have time to find someplace else if we have to.

Thank you all again for responding. I really appreciate the concern!! And I know Kyle already said it, but we're fine where we are. We are safe! And I am pretty sure it will stay that way. Things are looking slightly better close to us, but other places are not as lucky.

I hope all of you that have families you are worried about, find them to be safe and sound.

you know, nat, there's a greater chance of getting a reply to your e-mail--they don't necessarily have to be at the site to get it. got my fingers crossed for you, and don't feel too guilty: wedding planning has a way of making you extremely susceptible to tunnel vision. :>

just sending Blessings and Nat It is not selfish worrying about your church for wedding... I am sure there are a lot of people hoping that church is saved too.

Travino~ you talk about earthquakes and mud slides 1930s I remember hearing stories about a flood i believe in the 30s in Santa Clarita valley I think it was  maybe big maybe soledad creek gosh cant remember all the names and I am not that old just remembering history I am 54

  • nursecutie said on Oct 24, 2007....

ed, thank you for understanding my tunnel vision! It is hard to plan something like this and then have stuff go wrong that you can't control. I still haven't heard back yet, but I saw on the news a place that might have been it, evacuating horses. They never said the name of the location, but it was in the same area :(

Thank you QueenP and preacherman. We're fine where we are :)

wakingharmony, it was not a church but a ranch. We were going to get married outside in the trees that are probably not there anymore :(
