UFC 77 was pretty sad.  It featured a repeat of the beating that Anderson Spider Silva already gave to Rich Ace Franklin for the middleweight title.  It co-featured an inconclusive match between heavyweights Sylvia and Vera.  Behind that, no big deal, nothing deserving of pay per view status.  They should return $35 of every $40 they took in.

Constructive criticism.  You want to hit us for a pay per view event, give us something we want to see.  The Ultimate Fighter is giving us a welterweight (170 lb) title fight between champ Matt Serra and former champ Matt Hughes.  That's a good one.  They have the welterweight division covered for the moment.  Dana, how about the next pay per view being something like this.

1.  Featherweights (145 lb) Urijah Faber vs. Akitoshi Tamura.  Amazing for an undercard.  The best two featherweights in the world.

2.  Lightweight champ (155 lb) Sean Sherk vs. the rubber man, Hawaii's superstar The Prodigy B.J. Penn.  I think B.J. really should concentrate on his natural weight division, this one, instead of putting him in against bigger guys all the time.

3.  Middleweight champion Anderson Spider Silva (185) vs. someone who really belongs in the ring with him, Hollywood Dan Henderson fighting at his natural weight instead of going after 205 pounders like Rampage Jackson.  Now there's a real challenge for the Spider.  Call it a coin flip, 50/50, no favorite.

4.  Quinton Rampage Jackson, light heavyweight champion (205 lb) defending his title against Chuck The Iceman Liddell.  I realize that Liddell lost a close decision recently to Keith Jardine but I really don't place too much weight on that.  It's Liddell for Christ's sake.  Give him a chance to return to glory with a rematch against the guy who clocked him in 60 seconds.  This isn't like the Silva-Franklin rematch, which was pretty certain to be a repeat win for Silva.  Liddell actually has a chance against this guy, a good chance.

5.  The headline event, and you all should know what that is.  Randy The Natural Couture vs. God.  Give Randy the opportunity to "really" fight for the heavyweight championship of the world instead of the stupid UFC version of it.  Put him in there against God, aka Fedor Emelianenko.  If anyone can beat God, it's Randy.

I couldn't agree more. The recent fight cards have been severely lacking. However, the recently announced liddell vs silva is a good one. It's on the same card as serra hughes.

Dana White said that Serra-Hughes was going to be free on Spike TV.  I hope he didn't back off that position.

There's something sad about Liddell-Wanderlei Silva because that fight was supposed to happen a few years ago when they were idols, but they've both been beaten a few times now.  This fight was supposed to happen when it seemed like Godzilla vs. King Kong.  Anyway it should still be good, with two knockout artists like that.  Chuck punches harder but Wanderlei has those knees and elbows and raw aggressiveness.
