Freelance Writing
Freelance writing is sometimes a tough business so they tell me. I have been lucky in that most of my paid writing work has come about through the advice of other writers, people that I have met in the blogging world. Blogsites such as Soulcast and others it are great writing communities that discuss freelance writing and all other aspects of writing - even what we had for breakfast sometimes. It gets to be a cosy little world that's sometimes far removed from the harsh realities of life.
Life
When you write for a living sometimes your other life (yes there is one) not only interferes with your work but with any writing at all - that's bad for a writer. Despite the financial side of things it's the finding it hard to write that's bad. It does make me wonder how we as writers would get along without writing.
The words we write on paper or onscreen sometimes vie for attention in our minds like schoolchildren whispering "pick me sir". At other times they go for a rest that lasts longer than any nap should and we end up talking about writer's block. These words are necessary to our image of ourselves as writers they breathe life into our writing, freelance or otherwise
