Is anyone out there asking, "What is Wii?" Probably not, I'm probably the only person out here not "cool" enough to know what it is ... one of my girlfriends recently turned 40 and she has one and is addicted to games ... I had never heard of such a think before. When she told me about it I truly didn't care though - I've never been a huge video game person.
My girls, yes even my little one, use the computer all the time. I try to direct them to educational games as much as possible, but even then I get concerned that they are "vegging" too much and their brains and bodies will turn to mush so I shoo them off and send them outside to play after a spell. But now I've just read an article - this thing - the Wii, is being used for medical treatment, even with the elderly! Here's the first paragraph of the article I read and a link to see an elderly woman playing Wii during therapy:
"Treadmills and stretching are out: Physical therapists are turning to the Nintendo Wii to help the injured and infirm get their grooves back while increasing flexibility and strength. Click on over to see a video of a 70-year-old patient looking awfully spry as he hits a few balls in Nintendo's Wii Sports tennis game... all part of a medical therepy regimen."
Any of you out there addicted to this thing? Am I depriving my kids of fun (and some sort of exercise????) by not having one? How strange ...
