 Hello WORLD!

Hi everybody! It’s a rainy day here in Manila, and even though it is dark outside, I wouldn’t let it dampen my spirits. Even if it’s pouring oh so heavily, It won’t ruin my day, hopefully.

I actually found it hard to get up rather early because it was so comfortable sleeping, thanks to my comforter, and a little help from the air conditioner, I think I was sleeping a little soundly today, well plus the fact that I traveled quite early yesterday morning because I went to the province during the weekend.

Today is rather a new day, even if I am a bit running late than my usual, thank goodness for the flexi time policy in our office. Hopefully, it would stop raining tonight so that I could go grocery shopping tonight. I got to stock up the fridge that I have in my room.

Looking back, a couple of months ago, I was a bit gloomy since I am in the middle of making an important decision, which you may have an idea what, since it was written on my blog, a couple of months ago. Anyway, when I finally decided not to go through with it but haven’t actually said no, I made this list so as to motivate me and get me to the right path. Here’s the list:

Goals in a couple of months

  • Get a good paying job, which is at least 28k per month --- DONE (do the math LOL)
  • Save enough money to move to a new apartment --- DONE (it’s a pretty cheery apartment!)

(Basically I managed to achieve my short-term goals in a span of a month, thanks to the emotional support of my family and friends, but there’s more.)

Goals within the year  (2 more months)

  • Save enough money for sister’s wedding --- she’s asking me to pledge 20 thousand bucks, which I bargained for, and ended up with 15k. Sisters! (they really like to take advantage of the youngest who happens to be making more than they do, grrrrr). I AM Still working on this one, though I have 11k already, but don’t want to tell her because I told her that I would give it by the end of October. Hey, I’ve got bills too and I’m not rich!
  • Be closer to B Rain --- B is replaced by Rain, and I’m still working on that, especially when it comes to our schedules since he attends law school at night. B, on the other hand, I don’t know if he has the time of day to even think about me, though we are sending each other messages every now and then.

Goals up to next birthday:  (I’ve got 11 more months to go)

  • Save enough money to buy laptop (or PC but with an LCD Monitor)
  • Save enough money to buy IPOD (video that is)
  • Save at least 50k on bank account
  • Process id’s such as SSS, Driver’s, Postal  (am working out the SSS one, though it takes months to do so)
  • Open another bank account.
  • Get certifications such as: .net, zend, and java.
  • Stick with the job. (MOST DEFINITELY)

Looking at these goals now, it helps me get motivated because somehow, I know that my efforts are for something, and that I am working towards an end. You see, it feels good when you know that you’ve accomplished something even if this thing is small. It gives a feeling that you have been rewarded, even it its just small, for the effort that you have exerted. At the moment, I am still working on my other set of short-term goals, and while working towards the realization of this list, some goals may change, some goals may probably adjust. I think, when it comes to these goals, the process of getting it done, is also as important as to the realization itself, because in the process, you get to learn new stuff, you get to be stronger, you get to be wiser, and sometimes you make mistakes, which of course, would be charged to experience.

I guess, life is indeed filled with surprises. As I said, goals may change, times may change, you yourself may change, and that’s the beauty of life. You’ve got to accept the changes that are happening, and learn to adapt from it. I’m no expert in changes, hell, most of the time I get overwhelmed by them, but you know what, overcoming them is a great feeling and offers great rewards, so I guess, stay positive, and get motivated. That’s just a daily dose of dazed. (DDD)

Cheers.

hang on--dazed, is it common practice there for siblings to help out paying for one's wedding?

no. Its not actually. Its just that my sister likes to remind me every chance that she gets of how she have helped me during blah blah.. In the Philippines what is common is the "utang na loob" concept, or "in debt of gratitude", where one must return the favor someday if he or she has been the recipient of a good deed, which actually sucks.

To be honest, I have been independent most of my life, and the jobs that I had was from my own connections, not from my sisters' nor my mother.

I can always say no to my sister, but my mother somehow consents her, which actually is such pain in my ass.

Here is the blog which I posted pics of my apartment, also in the comments there is another link, with more pics!

    Cheers
