tomorrow, bruce springsteen's latest album magic will be released. by this time tomorrow i expect to have posted a review of it.

i've been deliberately avoiding listening to radio nowhere, the single that's been made available just about everyplace online: i want to be completely surprised when i put the CD into the car on the way home from the store.

i'm excited to hear it: it's his first album with the e street band since 2002's the rising, my second-favorite album by him.

but that put me in mind of a question: is there anything about which you would blog a review? i mean, i'll post reviews of anything provided i feel moderately qualified to comment on it...but then again, i'm a very opinionated guy.

how about you?

i used to talk to springsteen's accountant a lot.  that was because some of the e street band guys were our clients.  same accountant.  forgot his name.  but i remember his sense of humor.

he was just some middle aged white accountant, but he would answer personal ads in the newspapers and send pictures to the girls of "himself", but they were pictures of the singer prince.

the girls liked him anyway when they saw him.  he had such an upbeat and funny personality.

    Ed,
I would probably post a review about anything.  I have no qualms stating whether or not I like something.  I think I have already written about books, music and movies on my blog every now and again.

What do you think about CMT (Country Music Television) playing Bruce Springsteen videos?  I have a hard time seeing him, John Mellencamp, The Eagles and Bon Jovi on there.  I guess I'm a rock purist.  I don't like them mixed with the country artists.  I realize that crossover hits are to be expected but they seem to claim them as their own sometimes. Maybe it has something to do with age demographics?

I don't think I'd ever really post a review of something. Mostly because I assume no one would really care what I thought. But I do often post my opinions throughout my blog, but that's not the same as an actual review. I might give my thoughts about a movie or something though. That's more my speed!

I'm curious what you'll think of this album. I'm not a huge Springsteen fan, but I do like his music.

lbf: i'm kinda curious what precisely led to your having dealings with springsteen and the e streeters, i'll confess. :> and he does sound like a funny guy, i have to say. :>

CW: i'm not exactly a fan of country, i'll confess, but i can easily see some of his more recent stuff being popular there: there's a strong folk vibe in his most recent stuff, and i've always felt there's a good country/folk cross-genre appeal. but i definitely don't see the eagles--i find that really, really weird!

e_t: movie reviews are definitely worthwhile. i can just hear it: "hi, this is e_t soulcasting to you live from LA, just a few miles away from grauman's chinese theater with some thoughts about the movie..." :> and yeah, i'm curious to hear it. :D

I would review websites if there was anything interesting enough along a theme (I did lyrics sites once for a music appreciation project in college).

I could probably do albums/live performances of my favorite artists, but in general I don't think my reviews of things would be interesting enough to merit wasting people's time with, and I seldom get new CDs or go to concerts - the former because, well, I don't buy much for myself, and the latter because it's laughably impractical at the moment. Someday! ;-)

That said, I love reading other people's reviews on just about anything, whether or not I agree with them.

It makes me smile that you're so excited about this album - I wish everyone felt like that about at least one artist or genre!
