Who's reading confuzzledwife (21):
lol- I joined SoulCast yesterday feeling quite down- it was 5 AM, my son was cranky the night before and got to sleep around 4ish- so here I was irritable and feeling isolated for many reasons.. I was having a serious pity party, which I really try NOT do to too much :)

So I am going to post a very light-hearted blog before it's time for me to pick up the kiddos from school.

I am a redhead- yes, a natural redhead.. I feel the need to say that only because it's the single most asked question I've received in my life- why do people care if I'm a natural redhead?  I don't know.  Both men and women have asked me this question.

As the youngest of 7, 4 girls-3 boys, I was the only girl with red hair- and it used to be bright orange when I was little- oh, people would stop my parents in the store to touch my hair.. I remember being so little sitting in that shopping cart feeling like a freak show as people were touching my hair.. and this continued through my entire life.   In school I got teased a lot being the only redhead in the entire school-  I felt awkward.  Out of place.

2 of my brothers were redheads, but by the time they hit their 20s it faded to a dark auburn and brown- I was told mine would too, but at 37 it's still red.. not bright orange anymore, but red.

I attempted to dye my hair once when I was in my early 20s only to find out that red hair doesn't take dye and 2 days later it was red again.. what a waste of money.

I hated my hair color as a kid.. and people would tell me when I was older I'd love it.. well, here I am 37, still not loving it.. I have accepted it, but it's not love.

None of my kids have red hair.. I was told it skips a generation, which means I can anticipate all my little Grandchildren running around here with their red hair lol.....

Can anyone tell me why there are certain stigmas attached to redheads?

It is assumed I need sex all the time- not true.
It is assumed I have an fiery temper- not true.
It is assumed I have to be a comedian like Lucille Ball or Kathy Griffin- not true..
It is assumed I am a witch - well, that may be true ;)

I just read yesterday on AOL news that there was a study done in Germany on women and their hair color, blondes, brunettes, and redheads.. it has been concluded that redheads send a signal out to men they want sex, and this is why some women dye their hair red.. this isn't true at all in my case- don't get me wrong, I think I'm just about as average as anyone else is in these areas.

Just wondering what all you non-redheads think.

Confuz....lol......i dyed my hair red several times in my life.....from red strawberry -blonde down to mahogany red and in between....i can assure you i didn't do it because i was signaling sex ...lol......

Its true that red is a color associated with fertility, blood, temper, passion and so on.......so it seems pretty obvious that people might associate this color to these traits and the person with red hair to them....

I think its only a coincidence if a red-head person happens to be passionate, fiery, short tempered and horny .....lol.... actually a friend of mine who is red-head is really shy, softly spoken and very quiet....didnn't ask about her sex life though.....lol....

i dyed my hair red once after my 2nd daughter was born.  oh god i hated it on me!!!!
my oldest daughter has gone red 3 times now.  i spend a fortune getting it back to her natural dark blonde shade for her senior pictures, and two days later she brought home red dye and did it again.  this time with the understanding that when she tires of it, the bill to dye it back is HERS!!!!

do you have freckles too?  i've always loved freckles!

ginger - I was lol reading your response! c'mon, you sure you didn't dye your hair red to signal for sex? lol j/k!!!

Secretlife- yes I have freckles, but I sort of feel lucky in that area they are little and I really don't mind them.. I know a lot of people dislike freckles, especially women - but that's one thing on me that I honestly never worried about! :)

CONFUZ.......I m totally jealous of anyone who has hair irrespective of the color! Now that I ve said that I think red haired people are very attractive. My advise is ignore the stereotypes foist on you and show that you are truly and magnificently YOU.

I had to giggle over your hair dye woes - I've tried to dye mine twice now (just a brighter/richer red) and you're right - you can pretty much hang it up if you're a redhead!

I'm the only redhead in my family, either side as far up as we can go.

    I love redheads!!!!!!!!!

My first crush ever was Tina Louis, AKA Ginger Grant from Gilligan's Island. I think I was 5.

Later Katey Sagal, AKA Peg Bundy was the object of my desires. She would shake that fine ass all over my TV screen with that GIANT pile of red hair. She drove me nuts.

And I feel like a dirty old man because I'm 36, but I'd love to spend a night with Lindsay Lohan. I never cared for when she died her hair blond or black. She's a sexy red-head.

People probably ask you if you are a natural redhead because they want to know if the carpet matches the curtains.
