Okay, after watching a really horrible movie my friend picked out ... sorry everyone, I just don't find Will Ferrell's dumb humor to be that humorous ... I started thinking about what movies I've liked enough to rewatch over the years.

Here we go in no particular order:

1.)  Stand by Me - one of my favorites in middle school; the soundtrack was great as well!
2.)  On Golden Pong ... okay, my Dad loved the movie to and used to let us call him "Old Poop" just like Norman
3.)  Grumpy Old Men - well, this movie made me think of my dad and it also absolutely cracked me up ... Jack Lemmon and Walter Mathau were quite the duo!
4.)  Shawshank Redemption - I watch it every time it comes on and didn't even realize until recently that my 2nd cousin is in it ... oh well, I guess I'll have to watch it again!
5.)  A River Runs Through It - not a Brad Pitt fan even though he is attractive - this movie is incredible though

What are some of your favorite movies?

I have definitely seen all of them as well. Who was your favorite actor who played Bond over the years? Did you watch the newest one too?

I am about the same as secretlife, so I wont go into much more detail than that.  However a new one I would see again is "Miss Potter" and "The Ultimate Gift" I also liked Pretty Woman, Dirty Dancing, Erin Brocovich, Mr. Holands Opus

One of my favorite movies of all time is On Golden Pond.  Another is African Queen.  Then there's Godfather 1.  And The Usual Suspects.

I HATE Will Ferrell's (quote) comedy (unquote).  I believe he should be punished for what he does.  I think he owes us money for watching him anywhere.  I also can't stand anything done by Stiller and Mears's kid.

Last night I had a chance to watch the American Film Institute's Top 100 American Movies show (it was the 10th edition so there were some changes from the first time around) and I was reminded of so many that I'd like to see again.

For a long time, my favorite was A Man and a Woman, which is a French romance made in the mid-60s. But, hey, the first time I saw it was on a school trip to Quebec and so it carried some good associations.

When I got to college, I started watching movies with a better sense of story telling and imagery and became a big fan of Hitchcock and other classic era directors like Billy Wilder, Howard Hawks, and Preston Sturges. They all made great films, truly great films.

A few that I could watch over and over include:

    Casablanca
    Bringing Up Baby
    Sullivan's Travels
    Some Like It Hot
    Duck Soup
    North by Northwest
    Star Wars
    American Graffiti
    The Graduate
    All About Eve
Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid

Asking me my favorite movie is like asking a sumo wrestler his favorite type of sushi. On some level, they're all good.
