Well, after three and a half weeks of not posting or commenting and barely looking at SoulCast, I had a spot open in my morning schedule and decided to leave a short post. My dear SoulCast friend, gingersoul, commented that my post about currency exchange ever so casually mentioned some rather big news at the end. So I guess I should make a bigger deal out of it.

Yes, my dear Special Mountain K and I are planning to get married next March and we are trying to do so in New Zealand. The story goes as follows:

We planned a trip to Europe for our winter vacation and I suggested that it would be great if we could get married in a small chapel in Switzerland with mountains all around. We started to look into it but found the paper work had some complications, the biggest being that I would need my divorce papers from 11 years ago, which are packed away in a box in storage in Canada. We then looked into New Zealand after seeing a photo of the Church of the Good Shepherd at Lake Tekapo. We visited that church a few years ago and since we both love New Zealand we thought marrying there would be really exciting. I am able to take time off in March because my former co-worker is coming back to Japan and can cover my classes. So we started inquiring with wedding companies in NZ and Japan and it seems the price is only slightly out of range. That means our credit cards will have to come to the rescue. I never keep a running balance but I guess this time it will be okay to carry over a little to the next month. The only problems we face are that the time we can go will be around the Easter weekend and so the church is busy with Easter related services and I still need to know at least the exact date my previous marriage was disolved. I don't remember the name of the lawyer or law firm so I am having to ask the court registry to help me. So far I left a message with their voice mail.

So, now with planning our trip to Europe this winter and planning our trip to NZ in the spring (fall), and planning the wedding - it will be small - I am spending most of my Net time looking after those things. Also, autumn is a time for a few more hikes, as well as catching up on things I have not yet finished. That means finishing a couple more magazine submissions and filing photos and preparing photos to send to the stock agency. All this keeps me pretty much off social time on SC. But more importantly, K moved back to my place in September and now I spend my time after work at home enjoying my time with her instead of staying late in the office typing on SC. I recently read that many people are seeing less of their friends and having less sex because they spend so much time on line. With K back at my place it is the opposite for me. Less Internet, more quality time with the person dearest to me. We went to Disney Sea last weekend with two of our former students and tomorrow we are going camping and hiking for two days.

Everyday is now like a celebration. I have been buying cocktail drinks, ice cream, dark chocolate and liqueres to put on ice cream more often than usual. I figure they are for special occassions but with K at home everyday is like a special occassion. My co-workers have noticed my cheerfulness too. I think my life is pretty darn good right now. Even a convenience store sandwich for dinner the other day was enjoyable because I knew I was going home later to see K.

Sounds sappy? So what!

Anyway, so that's why I won't be around here much for a while. But I haven't gone for good. I'll be back more often when time permits.

Congratulations, I am so very pleased for you!

I can cope with sappy, I'm just happy that you are happy. And I am happy to not see you here if it because you are spending time with your fiancee. :-)

But if you end up in the vicinity of London on your trip and don't at least say 'Hi' I am going to be very upset. :p

botoni, thanks, man. Actually I would really like to come home and visit Alberta now. There's a new photography magazine called Outdoor Photography Canada and I would really like to update my Writing-On-Stone portfolio with some shots using my new large format gear so I could submit the photos to the magazine. Also, the dollar being what it is, I wouldn't mind getting paid in Canuck bucks now.

Alyss, we'd love to visit London and even meet up with you. However, we'll be in Switzerland, Austria and Germany. But we both want to visit the U.K. again. I hope we can maybe meet up then. That would be grand.

Happy news, hotcakes!   Just one question though... with your divorce papers tucked away in storage, couldn't you just request to have a copy sent to you from the courthouse where it was done?  I'm wondering, because I threw my divorce papers out when I moved to Mexico (trying to lighten my load).  Not that I'm ever planning on marrying again, but I always assumed that, if I needed them, I could get a copy.  Anyway, your plans sound great.  I'm happy for you!

Hot:  I have tears of joy rolling down my face!  I AM SO VERY HAPPY FOR YOU BOTH!!!!

How about this, you open a paypal account and we can all donate a buck or two here and there and know that we played a part in our dear friends wedding!?

You do know you can register for cash instead of household things...don't you?

I'm sure you can get a copy of your divorce records.  Dissolution of Marriage Certificate or something.  You may have to pay, but who cares.  Usually here, you can visit the court registry or town vital records department to request a copy, you'd have to do that in writing.  They usually ask you questions before they grant your request, but nothing bigger than "What is the reason for this request".

Don't put me on the case, because I will accept the challenge!  I could become a nervous wreck if I don't complete my duties as your investigator.

Bye the way, if your terms are still good/decent with your ex, can you ask her for them?

    Congratulations!

Well, hello SoulCast! I had a dream the other night that I checked this post and found several comments. I got more than I dreamed of, I guess you could say.

Thanks for all your well wishing. I am sure we will be fine and have a lovely wedding with a few days to visit some of the beauty spots in NZ.

Regarding the divorce papers, I am following a chain of phone numbers to find the right person to get me the info. I went from a law firm, to a court registry, to another court registry and then to another number at that registry. Something is bound to turn up.

daily, you are such a sweetheart. Really, that's a great idea about the PayPal account but you know, I am just happy to know you and the other great people on SC and your comments and support are enough. I am sure Miss K will be all excited to read what everyone posted above.

botoni, I actually would like to meet you someday, the next time we are in Alberta. I don't know when that will be though. I mention you enough to K that she knows who you are. She thinks it would be fun to meet you too.

Well, heck, there are so many people on SC I would love to meet someday if I ever have the chance.

Cheers, everyone! We'll have to toast SoulCast on our wedding night.

Hotaka, I would be pickled tink to meet both you and Special K! Here would be cool but there are also possibilities in Vancouver if you happen to be home at some point. I get out there often to see both chums and my kids/grandkids. Bear Creek Park when the salmon are spawning?
  • hotaka said on Sep 25, 2007....
Do you mean Bear Creek Park in Surrey? That is very near my high school. I have many memories of that park, including watching the salmon spawning. Sure, we could meet there easily someday.
  • botoni said on Sep 25, 2007....
Hotaka....That is hilarious. Our worlds are really close. Both my west coast daughters live really close to that park. They keep telling me about the salmon spawning and I never seem to get there at the right time. I ve stood many times on that little foot bridge watching the creek when I ve got grandchildren and my dogs in tow. Its our favorite place to picnic with southern fried chicken we pick up just off Hastings near the Vancouver Army and Navy. For the life of me I cant remember the name of the chicken place but it sure is good!
  • hotaka said on Sep 26, 2007....

You bought chicken downtown and then drove to Surrey to eat it? Wasn't it cold by then?

Hey, you weren't in the Gay Pride Parade in 2005, were you? I might have seen you. My friend and I went to watch. It was a weird feeling. Normally I don't think anything when we go out and do stuff but going to a gay parade together made me feel like... well, like people might have gotten the wrong impression about us. Miss K was working in Pacific Centre that day and couldn't join us and his girlfriend was working at St. Paul's.

I just want everyone to know that my darling wife and I celebrated our 34th wedding anniversary yesterday, they have been the best year's of my life and I pray that our dear God will bless us with health and age to do another 34. together....
Some stay at all costs. Some say that they are working it through. But when parents are arguing and fighting all of the time. When they live in two seperate worlds under the same roof, what do you think the fallout is for the children if they stay together...
That sometimes holds my baby....
....its starting to look like that is not in the stars for me....
This is a news story from the mid 1980s. I could find out nothing more about this couple.

I find the restrictions put on them about selling the story interesting. When has a judge ever done such a thing to a male pedo?...
