IS MYSPACE ANTI-RADICAL?
You know, I’m on SOULCAST because somebody didn’t like my radical political views (especially my anti-Americanism) and my hardcore atheism.
You see, someone who I was exchanging emails with on MYSPACE was so upset by what I’d written on my first blog entry :INTRODUCING ME(which I’ve also posted here) that not only did he condemn me as “an un-American scum bag who is sure to burn in hell”.
But also reported my blog as “abuse”.
Unfortunately the people at MYSPACE agreed with this guy because soon after that, both my blog and my profile were deleted from the MYSPACE website.
Can you get over that?
Has anyone out there had a similar experience with MYSPACE?
Let me know your views on this kind of censorship.
O.K.?
WHY THE FUCK IS MYSPACE SOOOOOO CONSERVATIVE????
Do you think corporate censorship ought to be prohibited by law when a company is as gigantic as MYSPACE ?????
I DO!
The trouble is, that the first amendment to the U.S. constitution only prohibits government censorship.
So corporations (and other private agencies) are free to ban whatever they please.
That makes sense to me when we’re talking about small institutions, like (for example) small “mom and pop” book stores refusing to carry a certain book because they don’t care for it’s contents.
But it’s a whole different ball game when you’re talking about a huge corporation which no specific individual actually owns, but is instead nominally “owned” by millions of stock holders who ,nevertheless have no control over what the company does anyway.
Man! If that’s capitalism it sure fuckin sucks!
Should any large organization be permitted to deny people their inalienable right to free speech and free expression???
NO!
Clearly corporations such as MYSPACE are public entities, and as such, they should be subject to the same kind of anti-censorship restrictions as our U.S. Government is.
To me, that’s the only way to really preserve civil liberties.
Again I have to ask:
Does anyone out their agree with me on this issue?
