I found out something today that made me realize that is no use being positive about anything anymore.
Sunday when I went back to work, I found one of my geese in an exhibit he was not supposed to be in. I tried to catch him but was unsuccessful so my boss suggested that I would build his trust until I would be able to recapture him.
Monday, a zoo employee, who likes our Ne-nes told me that he wondered why the goose was in the wrong exhibit; he said that he was over in the wrong exhibit for 3 or 4 days. Counting back the days, that would mean my relief didn't bother to notice that the Ne-ne was missing. At first I took this piece of info as a grain of salt until....
Tuesday, a different employee noticed the same thing!!
I was PISSED.
I have been having a sneaking suspicion that there was some hinky stuff going on with my animals and the routine for my area. I never could get a straight answers from my relief about some other birds. In other words, she was not doing her job. Then she got mad because I told her that she may have to help with cleaning a pool of an exhibit she doesn't like because she's scared of the birds in the exhibit ( they are a pair of trumpeter swans). I told her if you are in the exhibit cleaning or trimming the birds will stay out of her way several times but, she seemed to had made her mind up that she wasn't going to do it. I went to my boss in and told her about this; that K may need to help since my boss was the one that told me to put the exhibit on a cleaning schedule. I reminded my boss that I am the person that constantly gets pulled out of her routine when another area needs to be covered and the days I picked would guarenteed the exhibit would get cleaned. K was basically backup in case I could not clean the pools.
So.... today the Ne-ne was hanging out by the fence and thanks to some bribery food and patience, I was able to catch the Ne-ne, trim his wings and return him back to the right exhibit.
As I was going back to the birdhouse I needed to get some input of the info I got about how long the Ne-ne was in the wrong exhibit- should I told to K or just go straight to my boss?
I went to talk to KK to get some advice. KK is probably one of two people in our department I can get feedback from without consequence. K is also KK's relief and has had problems in the past her also.
I told KK my story and she told me the following: Say nothing. Why? Because now K is one of my bosses favorites and if I go to my boss, she is not going to do anything. If I talk to K, she run to my boss complaining. KK told me that she tried to approach our boss about something K did but instead of looking into it, she did nothing and basically told KK that she wasn't doing her work!!!!!!! This total and utter bullshit!
I am so sick of the ass kissing fuckers at work get away with not doing their jobs and the honest people getting screwed. I don't ask much from relief keepers because in the past I have been burned a couple of times with others for not doing simple tasks- I don't ever leave them hard projects because I was a relief keeper once and it isn't fair to dump that kind of shit but not doing the simple stuff really makes me mad.
So I have decided I will not leave anymore projects for my relief, well not this one. Besides she will only be there for about 2 years anyway- she's in grad school in an unrelated field.
Also, karma is a bitch and she will get hers one day.
