We have the air conditioning off and the windows open, and it feels great!! I love fresh air; it's just not practical when the temperature is around 100 with 90+% humidity. :-p

We slept with the fans going and blankets on the bed...ahhhhhh. Please, please let it stay like this (or just get cooler)! I'll admit that I'm also looking forward to saving ~$40/month on the electric bill, but it's more about the weather itself.

Fall is my season. Autumn puts me in my element like nothing else can (well, save for perhaps autumn in the mountains - you have never seen a consistently happy/energetic Infernal until you've witnessed that!). I actually started deep cleaning the apartment last night because I have so much positive energy just from cool weather already. It's strange, but that's the way it is! Summer makes me feel lethargic and drained - not depressed, but the heat seriously saps my energy; fall more than replenishes it. :)

I am so, so, soooo happy right now!! :) I can't think of anything I don't love about this season, except that it doesn't come soon enough or last long enough. I'm going to enjoy the hell out of it while it's here!

Nothing important to report; just thought someone might get a smile from my joy. Bright, beautiful journey to ya!

TIO I am with you but for other reasons. This is the time of year when all that wonderful produce is over flowing. A weekly trip to the farmers market sends me into exstacy. There is always a new variety of fruit or veggie I have nt yet tried and it just makes my creative juices flow. FUN!

Infernal, it's so weird you should mention this! Just last night, Natalie and I both were discussing how fall was our favorite season. And Natalie said she always gets more energy when the weather cools off, and she wants to do stuff around the house. I guess she's not the only one!

I like fall just fine, its the next step (winter) I don't care for. We normally have very little humidity, but this has been the most humid summer I can remember. For the first time, I've been looking forward to fall over summer.

Spring and summer I like best, but humidity is the worst part of climate.
  • secretlife said on Sep 17, 2007....

I love fall too.....and i love the break from the humidity of the summer!

I can't wait to go pick some apples!

I love all seasons for their own particular reasons but I must admit, I do have a soft spot for autumn.  Perhaps it's because my birthday's in October, perhaps it's the melancholy breeze, the changing of the leaves, Halloween....  I have the doors and windows open here, too.  Thanks for this lovely post.

Glad you're having a nice day.

I like the Autumn best of all. It's meant to be as low as 8C tonight.

I like fall too...but hate what comes next...  ugh.
  • CreativeWoman said on Sep 17, 2007....
I love fall except for the fact that it precludes winter.  I hate the snow and cold.

I think I have said this before? Fact is we do not have true seasons here is the land down under (though there is some snow in the far east NSW, Vic, so in the mountains...maybe something like but for most of us no! So I am jelous because I remember the seasons back home even though I have been here 46 years!

I love fall too, but I have to warm up to it first.  It's a shock to my blood stream and my back pain when it goes from 100 to 90 to 70 and now it's 50!!!!  We have a fire going right now and I even turned the heat on earlier!  Can you believe that!!!  It was actually warmer outside than it was inside and I could hardly move all day!  I knew it right when I woke up because I was stuck in bed again! lol

Spring and Fall, yup, I am with you on the seasons, Fall used to be my favorite, now it's Spring. I love to hunt and that's in the Fall. Our winters can get so horrible that as Fall progresses, it leads to Winter.

Of course Spring leads to Summer and the heat has been awful the last few years.

Anyhow, I think you got lots of smiles from this.......haha

Rupert, right you are but really in my home town we had serious seasons there... but autumn well, I wouldn't live in the tropics infernal if I liked cold weather... but because I haven't seen where you live this time of the year I can't really say can I?? all I know is that you sound happy and thats cool.... (pardon the pun)
  • destinydiva said on Sep 18, 2007....
I love fall. I know what you mean bout feeling a surge of energy this time of year, I think fall to me is like spring is to most, refreshing letting go of the old, getting ready for cosy winter nights...love it!!  :-)

bottie: Oh, yes - fall means fresh, awesome apples, so I can totally see it from a food perspective. :-D

e_t: Hey, I'm in good company then - cool. :)

beyond: It seems you aren't alone there (like fall; dislike winter), given some of the comments below yours. I love winter too, though I live in a place with relatively mild weather and little to no snowfall. If winters were brutal here, I might feel differently.

secret: Oh heck yeah - goodbye, humidity!

MM&I: I'm somehow not surprised that we're alike there. :)

queenie: I don't know what I'd do without autumn!

hidufel: I like. Welcome! :) Have you ever experimented with the tanka or the renga?

Grape: Ooh, we share our birth month. Cool!

skald: Brr! I'd love to come visit - cleaning would suit me fine, though I'll have to get this place in order first. ;-)

Alyss: I had you figured as an autumn person already - have you blogged about that?

quiet: You're in beyond's camp there.

CW: You're with quiet and beyond as well. There's a point at which it's too cold for me, but it takes a fair bit to get there (and here, we never do).

rupe: I don't think I could live there! I hope it has its redeeming factors, seasons aside.

daily: Ok, I'm jealous that you have a fireplace and are already getting to use it, too! :)

mobil: Yay, another fall person! I like winter best after fall, but that's probably because spring is about two weeks long here - the rest of it is summer already!

Lucy: I'm in the southern US, fwiw. ;-)

des: Yay! Someone else who appreciates this most marvelous of seasons...and it's good to hear you sounding fairly even. ;-)

heh...i always associate fall w/ comfort food: heavy, rich stuff that's just too much for the heat of summer. and i always like the crispness to the air in autumn. :>

my autumn sunday ritual involves beer, making chili and watching football. i fear that this year the ritual will be adapted to watching the giants lose again.

infernal; i am still but a poetic infant, yet to suckle from all of lifes inspirations, and have yet to explore my surroundings, in regards to such beautiful and expressive poetry as the Tanka, nor in the communal experience that is Renga.

But i have those tasty morsels yet within my sights, and as the babe explores his surroundings through the wonders of his own, trusting mouth, i shall consume and feel such poetic bliss, and soon shall be able to add to my own word-hoard, such as those.
  • the_infernal_optimist said on Sep 18, 2007....
Ed: Wouldn't surprise me re: Giants. *ducks* :-D

Maybe there should be a chili recipe trading post somewhere. I might have to do that, as I'm not all that satisfied with the one I have atm (MIL's - it's not bad; just...ok). Now, complete that with a sourdough bread bowl, and life is good!

hidufel: I look forward to seeing more from you as you explore and grow - I don't think any of us ever grows up completely re: writing, especially not poets. There's always so much more to learn and try!

it beckons me, granting me solace
beneath it's chilling wing
but underneath it all
I forget what it means
to have a sensible being.
I forgot what it meant
to be real

The opium poppies growing in a certain fuck-up's yard are doing both good and bad as the recent weather is not being nice to them at all. The goddamn Spring winds have so far destroyed ten of my largest and wintered poppies......
