INTRODUCING   ME

Hi!

How ya doing…..

Welcome to my blog……

My name is: John Brown Maxwell.

This is not my given name, but  my chosen name.

The first  and middle names I’ve chosen are meant to honor and memorialize my idol: JOHN BROWN, THE MAN WHO FOUGHT TO FREE THE SLAVES AT HARPERS FERRY.

While(as you will soon see)   I am   not religious in the least I can’t help but love old John Brown, who believed himself ordained by God to combat the greatest evil of his day, namely :slavery.

My chosen last name is: Maxwell.

It’s an abbreviation for :maximum wellness.

You see, a lot of people think I’m crazy when I express my views on things like: my  unbelief in God,  my hatred for America’s Imperialism abroad and oppressiveness at home, my  support for moral relativism  and ---perhaps most of all---my contention that sexual freedom can ultimately save the world!

I rant and rave about these, and a hundred other issues, to anyone who will listen ,  and people say I’m totally nuts’ because of it.

But  I think I am never more mentally sound as when I am decrying all the things I find wrong with the world, and entreating on the way it ought to be.

In fact, I believe myself to be at the peak of maximum wellness when I do this.

Hence, my chosen last name…..

As for further information regarding me:

  I am a straight white male, aged 47 (D.O.B.  1/5/60)

My  ethnicity  is  half  Jewish (on  my  mother’s  side)  and  half  Sicilian (on  my  father’s  side).

I was born in Bridgeport Connecticut U.S.A.  and  have  lived  my  entire  life  in  the  neighboring  town of  Stratford  Connecticut.

I  don’t  work, and  I’m  currently  collecting  a  very  meager  amount  of  disability  money  from  the  government.

 As  to  why  I  am  collecting  this  money……..I   don’t  feel  comfortable telling  anyone  about  that  just  yet, but  perhaps in  time  I  will.

For  now,  what  I  want  everyone  to  know  about  me is  the  following:

1. I’M  A  HARDLINE,  HARDCORE , DYED  IN  THE  WOOL  ATHEIST.

That  means  I  don’t  believe in  God, Jesus ,the  Bible ,divine intervention,  “ Fate”,  Creationism, Heaven, Hell, or   life  beyond  the  grave of  any  kind.

What’s more I reject  and  refuse  to  believe  in  anything  of  a  spiritual ,  supernatural     or  occult  nature.

You name it, I don’t believe in it.

I’m  also  a  militant  secularist  who  staunchly  advocates  the  absolute  separation  of  religion  and  state. 

2. I’M  A  POLITICAL  RADICAL , WHO  HATES  OPPRESSION   AND  UNFAIRNESS   IN  ALL  IT’S  MANY  FORMS.

I  guess  you  could  say  that  my  personal-political  ideology is a  kind  of  philosophical  hybrid.

A  right/left  mixture of anti-authoritarian  beliefs  and  ideas----which  border  on  Anarchism ------ coupled  with  a  heart felt  empathy for   all  of  society‘s out-casts  and  out-groups  which  leads  me  to  oppose  every  form  of  bigotry, exploitation ,elitism, exclusivity, intolerance, and  injustice  you can  think  of  or   care  to  mention.

A  rather  strange  amalgam  this……my  self-developed  socio-political    creed  is a rather  exotic   cross  between  Libertarian-laissez- faire   individualism ( and    an  almost  fanatical  devotion to  personal  liberty)  on  the  one  hand,  and an  egalitarian-socialistic hunger  for  social  justice, peace , and  an  equitable  distribution  of  wealth  and  power  on  the  other.

3. I AM AN EXTREME UTOPIAN MALCONTENT

I absolutely  despise  and  deplore  this  sick, sad ,  violent, reprehensible  world we all have  to   live  in…..

And  I  dream  of  a  world  where  all  the  ancient  evils  that  have  plagued  humankind  since  before  the  dawn  of history down  to  the  present  day (e.g. tyranny, war, imperialism, slavery, hunger, poverty, economic exploitation, pollution etc.)are no more.  

Looking  at  the  state  of  western  civilization,  in  general, and  the  United  States  in  particular,  I  feel  a  strange  mixture  of  idealistic  hope  and  bitter,  angry  rage!

I  HATE, HATE,  HATE, this repressive,  racist,  sexist, homophobic, warmongering, eco-cidal, crypto-fascist/ corporate plutocracy of  a  country  I  live  in…..

AMERIKA SUCKS!  (Hooray for flag burning!!!)

 Yet, despite  my  contempt  for  the  current  status  quo  in  my  nation.

 Quite  often,  I    find  myself  reflecting  upon  my  vision  of    what  a  beautiful  place  this  country ( and  this  planet)  could be  for  all  of  us,  if  only  the  military, political ,economic,  social ,  cultural   and  environmental   power  structures  which  dominate  it, could  be over  thrown,   or , at  the  very  least,  fundamentally  altered…..

So  as  to  create  a  society  where  individual   freedom  is  maximized to  near  absolute  levels, and  aggressive (state  sponsored)    violence  and  coercion  have

been greatly minimized…..or perhaps even reduced to almost nil.

 While  (at  one  and  the  same  time) people  work  together   to  build  a  new  social  order where   all    forms  of  human, poverty,  deprivation  ,  inequality  and  social  injustice have  been  greatly  reduced  or  perhaps  even  nearly eradicated.

4.   I’M   AN   ICONOCLASTIC

 FREE- SPIRITED

 NON-CONFORMIST.

  I  detest  most  of  the  restrictions  imposed  by   social  conventionality and  repressive  “norms   of  behavior”.

I  think  our  whole  society is  way  too  rigid ,  up  tight  and  standardized  in  a  thousand  different  ways.

More over,  I   can’t  stand    much  of   the   self-righteous  pretentiousness  and  hypocrisy  which  I  see in  so  many    so  called  “moral  codes”   and  “ ethical  standards”.

Bottom line…. I  believe  that    people  ought  to  be  free  to  do,  say  and  think  whatever  the  fuck  they  want  to,  provided  they  do not physically  harm  others,  steal  from others , or  deprive others  of  their  rights  and  liberties.

I want to see an open, free wheeling, super-tolerant society, where almost anything goes!

5. I’M   REALLY INTO SEXUAL LIBERATION.

I  firmly  believe  that  sexual  openness  and  giving  everyone  the  freedom, ability  and  opportunity    to enjoy  erotic  pleasures of  every kind  can  save  Humanity!

Now, I  know  how ridiculously  grandiose  and  absurd  the  above  statement  must  seem  to  most  readers.

But I nevertheless stand by it!

You  see,  I  contend  that sexual  repression  is  the  root  cause  of  most (if  not  all)  of  the  world’s  troubles…..

Such as:  war, religious fanaticism, and fascism.

Therefore,  I  think  our  society  should  work  towards  creating  a  new  and  libidinally unrestrained   culture, where  pleasure---especially  sexual  pleasure----is  seen  as  an  intrinsic  good.

 Where any  and  every  kind of mutually consensual sex act between two (or more) persons can  be  openly practiced and  freely enjoyed  without  fear  of running  afoul of  any  legal, social or moral  constraints.

And  where all alternative life-styles,  love-styles,  sexual  preferences  and  orientations,  marital  relationships  and  family  forms, are  not  merely  tolerated  but  readily accepted  by  all.

In  future  entries  I’ll  have  much, much  more  to  say  about  everything  I’ve  written  above.

In fact,  in   the  coming  weeks  and  months,  I’ll  do  my  very   best  to  greatly  elaborate   and  expand  upon   all  my  beliefs, and  try to  clarify my  statements  too.

For  now  however,  all  you  need  to  know  about  me  is  written  above.

I  can’t wait to see what kind of a response I get.
