We've been getting some questions from users asking how to get more search engine traffic to their blog posts. The trick is to use keywords effectively in your blog posts and your blog titles.
I always learn better by example, so consider this. Let's say you want to write a blogpost raving (or ranting) about Hilary Clinton.
Goto the WordTracker Keyword Tool and type in Hilary Clinton. You will get a long list of keywords---these are the most commonly searched keywords in search engines like Google and Yahoo. The left column shows an estimate of the number of times that this keyword is searched for in search engines. For example, approximately 102 people search for "hilary clinton cleavage" per day.
Anyways... To get more traffic, you want to write blogposts that will show up on the top 10 of search results when people search these keywords. To do this, simply keep in mind what kind of keywords people search for and incorporate these words into your blogpost. Also, be sure to use a keyword rich title tag. Title tags help search engines understand what your blogpost is about. So instead of the title "Potshots at Clinton's Wife Crack Me Up", a better alternative would be "Hilary Clinton Jokes"---keep it short, simple, and concise.
In addition, you can get more search engine traffic if you can get other websites to link to your blogpost. So if you write a great blogpost with hilarious Hilary jokes, tell your friends and family members to link to your article from their personal blogs and websites. When search engines see a blogpost with a lot of links pointing to it, they will think that your page is important, and your post will have a higher chance of showing up in the top 10 search results.
That's pretty much it, if you have any questions, please leave a comment and I'll be sure to help you out.
