I cut my finger this weekend whilst cooking. Looking about for a plaster (band-aid) I found some old Hello Kitty plasters my Mum once sent me in a cute/nonsense parcel. They were really sweet, with a little flying kitty with wings and a fairy wand. Like, maybe she could heal the cut with her magical powers.
My partner was laughing at me because I was so excited about the plaster. I think he was wondering if now I will cut myself more often, on purpose ;-)
We had a little crazy conversation (as sometimes happens) about what shapes / images would be fun on plasters. We thought fake injury band-aids would be fun. Cover up your cut with a gruesome wound. Or tattoos, so you can fool people for a day or two that you've had 'I love Mom' tattooed on your knee. Kisses, to kiss your scrape better. Works of art, so you can console your wounded self with a view of a nice Van Gogh, Da Vinci, or Hopper.
We had a good giggle, and then today I looked on the internet and realised we are way behind the times... The world of band-aids is already an amazing place... Tattoos and kisses already exist... I couldn't see any fake wounds or Van Gogh, but there were band-aids shaped like / themed after pirates, beef steaks, bacon rashers, crime scene tape, Jesus (!), Ninjas, sushi (!!)
I promise, these things are all out there. There's no excuse for wearing a non-fashion-statement band-aid anymore!
