the weather forecast is calling for some good weather this weekend where i live. the apartment pool's closed now, which is a darned shame as it would be good weather for it, but c'est la vie.

so this has me wondering what folks have going on this weekend.

me, i think i'll be running some errands today for a while, then try to take a nap to catch up on missed sleep from last night. we should put in an appearance at church sunday as it's been practically 2 months since we were last there. afterwards, the mrs and i will be at my cousin's daughter's 2nd b-day party, which should be fun--although i gotta confess, that little girl just isn't exactly the prettiest kid on the planet...

so, how about you?

Lets see...I have invited Mr. Obama and family to dinner...they politely declined due to prior engagements.  So, looks like a quiet weekend of housework, playing with kittens, and doing a bit of crafting.  Rainy here, hot and humid.

I'm taking in 6 movies as part of the local film festival :D

That part about the child not being the prettiest wasn't very nice!  I bet she turns into a knockout when she grows up.  lol!
Why did they close your pool already?  Has it cooled off that much where you are?

My weekend will be used for catching up from the week.  Scooter has ball practice this morning, possibly a pool trip this p.m., there's a family dinner at my house tomorrow night and .......oh yeah, I'm showing the house again tomorrow afternoon while I'm at church.  {monotone} yippee.

Gaming, gaming, gaming in my free time - GW is having a triple experience weekend. I also want to finish my mediocre book and move on.

Our pool is closed too, even though it's still hot - and it's not like this weather is a surprise!

Ed....its 10:30 am here in sunny Texas. My daughter and I have already been to her first soccer game of the season. It was a tie. My One wasn't able to run much because three days ago she pulled her rigth quad doing the try-out for the shool volleyball team. She made it but is still limping. So this morning she did what she could.....

Right now she is taking a shower and i am sipping my deserved second coffee. i bet she will crash in front of tv for the morning.

After lunch we will go to severe the tie with my cell provider. I have to cancel my family plan that its strangling me and buy her a pay-to- go phone. Cheaper, less bloody for me.

Its a sunny day here but still too humid for my like. This morning at 7 when i walked the dog I stopped underneath some tall trees and just took in the colder breeze,.....this summer will end, eventually...

I will be here too, as usual. My daily addiction has to be satisfied.....

Later on in the evening i wouldn't not mind join Traveler for a drink.....but not now...:-0

I just came from a wonderful visit to the next door dentist, and he was nice enough to fill some cavities that were deep enough to tickle my throat and massage my ribs.  now my lips feel weird.

tonight i watch my martial arts show for free on spike tv.  sunday i think my wife is planning to take me into manhattan to a restaurant called the spice something or other.

Well, Saturday is almost over over here, and tomorrow is the first day of the week (seriously, we do start our week on Sunday) and I'll start my new job.

This Saturday was a pleasant surprise. I thought I would be depressed all day, since Rapee has yet again, pulled a dirty one on me, and I have absolutely no cash to do anything in order to get out of the house and keep busy to forget about his sorry ass. But an unexpected girlfriend called that she is on her way to pick me up and take my son and I to the beach. Yeppieeeee!
So I was on the beach all day, the boys had fun and I forced myself to talk as less about Rapee as possible. It was nice and I have a nice tan. Actually, it is a nice sun burn, but it'll turn dark after a day or so.

Tomorrow I'll start in a new school and I am worried and frustrated about it. It is the first time I'll hande a whole class room, and people are expecting 100% from me.
The wirse part is, that my pay check will be a jocke, so I am kind of against the whole thing from the beginning. But I must do it, cause I haven't worked during the summer, and now my ass is in a serious financial trouble.

The Sun is still burning over here, it is sticky hot, and I cannot wait to see this weather changing already. I've had enough.

good luck on your weekend Aba Silver
PS: Aba Silver is a well known hero character in the Israeli history. AND my son's school is on Aba Silver street too.
So don't feel annoyed by me calling you that =]

yesterday afternoon was a lazy one for me. the hubby came home from work early and i finish teaching in early afternoon. so the hubby and i ended up taking a nap on the couch because we drifted off in the peaceful quite. that means i didn't get any of the work done i had slated to do, but the nap was great. :)

we got the little man from his after-school program and ran a couple of quick errands before dinner.

this morning was an early morning with swimming lessons for the little man. and we just finished lunch. we are cleaning up a few things around the house and then going to a local arts festival for the afternoon and early evening. we may listen to a few of the local bands performing on the center stage and have dinner there. and well, i just have to get a chocolate covered cheesecake wedge. :) (if they have them this year.)

we are getting back home in time to catch the LSU and Virginia tech game at 9:15 p.m. though. :)

tomorrow, for me will be devoted to grading papers, working on my DL course, and preparing for meetings on monday. so, the hubby and the little man will be entertaining themselves, hopefully.

My weekend plans for me and the girls were totally upset by other circumstances and we spent the day, including the best part of  four hours playing chauffeur, helping to resolve a major cock up. Helping was the right thing to do but Gods it was a bloody nuisance.

Now tomorrow, instead of having a fun day as I'd planned, we have to do all the chores and school/work preparation we should have done today and can't be left undone. =(

Just a little rest - my student didn't come in today. Otherwise, just online work and playing with my family.

BTW, SW, believe me, it's very hard to predict how a girl will turn out later in life from her appearance at 2 years of age. ha-ha.

Many beauty queens filled out very nicely later on - puberty  seems to do wonderful things for girls. ;)

queen: what's wrong w/ your computer now?!

quietone: bwa-ha-ha-ha-ha! sorry it's wet & humid. that always makes me cranky.

    sweetsoul: oo, what films?

fearing: i know it was mean and i gotta say, i've always prided myself in finding an attractive or good feature in anyone, but goodness, i'm out of my depth this time! i hope she does, fearing, i truly do. they close the pool after labor day weekend. btw, you know the thing about baking bread before you have a prospective buyer visit?

infernal: i find that frustrating re: pools! what mediocre book are you reading, though?

rupert: sorry jenny's under the weather, that sucks! and thanks, will definitely do what i can to sleep better tonight! :>

trav: have one for me! :>

mm&i: that sounds fun--i hope you blog about it when you're back! :>

GS: what position does your daughter play? ugh, have heard some bad stories about family plans. i'm curious what carrier is making life so difficult for you--?

lbf: ugh, my condolences re: dental work, but just think, your visit tomorrow to the restaurant should be interesting. should you have the time, i'd like to see a review of the establishment.

zsuzsio: hang on, hang on--did i completely miss something? the new job sounds like it'll be really nifty--you'll blog about how it went, right? btw, can you do a blog entry re: who that is?

super z: i'm glad you two got that nap together, that's wonderful--i know you haven't been getting as much as you'd like. i hope you'll blog about the arts festival--i'm curious! good luck with the grading of papers. :>

rww: see, i'm taping the giants game tomorrow night but i don't follow college ball--i know, i know, i'm weird...

    grape: awe. some. :>

alyss: i'm desperately sorry to hear about the suckiness of your weekend thus far. :<

CW: i believe i can say without fear of contradiction that everyone who's commented here would love for you to do anything just for fun. :>

bronx: i know, i know--i am clinging to that hope, i assure you!

I will now do a review of the restaurant I went to for lunch today, Jade Isle in a small town in New Jersey called Scotch Plains.

Chinese food has come a long way since I was little, but unfortunately not here on Jade Isle's lunch menu.  The menu itself is creative, the first page offering bento boxes similar to those you find in Japanese restaurants, and allowing you to choose all four of the dishes in your bento box.  I chose steamed grouper, steamed broccoli, fried rice (it was that or white rice, nothing creative here), and steamed dumplings.  All for $8.

The steamed dumplings were composed of the same overly hard gelatinous garbage they used to put in those dumplings when I was little, not the softer and more tasteful gunk that a good Chinese restaurant puts in them now.

The fried rice had the same tired cubes of pork and the same boring mess that I remember well from 1932.  The broccoli was as hard and boring as any I've ever had.

The steamed grouper was the tastiest thing on the plate, and my wife didn't like the piece I gave her to try, but even so, it was okay more or less, and it was covered in ginger strips giving it too vivid a taste if you eat them all.

The table was complete with one of the stalest bowls of "Chinese noodles" or whatever they call those squiggly American things that you are supposed to put either duck sauce or mustard on.  Those things aren't that bad if they aren't stale.

On my scale of 1 to 10 I give Jade Isle a 2 today.  I'm used to disliking Chinese lunch menus but I made the mistake of taking this one at its word, respecting a creative menu that fooled me pretty well.  I will never return to this particular isle.

    ed today's selection was:

Young People Fucking...uhuh...that's the title. Had a 2 min. movie before it called I've Never Had Sex. Filmed on the guys camera phone. Was cute. The main movie was a humorous look at 5 couples/stories (a married couple, first date, exes, best friends, and roommates) during an evening of sex - from the intro/foreplay through to afterglow. They did all five stories/couples at each stage then moved on to the next stage for all 5 couples/stories.

My Child Could Paint That - a documentary of a 4 year old girl in New York who paints modern art (similar to Pollock), that had 2 showings at art galleries (one in NYC and one on the west coast) at 4 and sold her paintings for $20K!. Was an interesting mix of the art, the effect of a 60 Minutes exposé saying her Dad painted/helped her paint, and the effect on the family.

Under the Same Moon was a Mexican film (in Spanish) about a 9 year old boy in Mexico who lives with his grandmother because his Mom is an illegal, working in LA (for 4 years) trying to save enough money to get herself legal and her son with her. The grandmother dies and the movie shows the boys adventures to try to find his Mom.  Running parallel (but without the same significance) is a story about the Mom's life...how she works 2 jobs, loses 1, has the opportunity to marry a legal Mexican who lives in LA 'who clearly loves her (when she does not love him), and her guilt over being away from her son for so long and her decision whether to return to him in Mexico.

All were very good. We've got huge numbers of Hollywood stars etc. in the city for the film festival but I prefer to visit the foreign films and those that are less likely to make it to the big screen.

    Any ways, you asked....

Ed...my daughter plays in defense and she is really good but the coach insists on using her also as gollie when he wants gibe a break to the head gollie. She hates being in that position. The season is going to be pretty though this year...they are on a more competive level .

I had my fun with my friends screaming as usuals on borderfield though.......

My family plan in with Cingular.......awful..i just called and they asked me to pay a fee of $175 for interrupting the plan before the end of the 2 year contratc....damnit....

Ed, I believe you do try to see a good feature.  ;-)
Is it the same as baking cookies before showing your house?  I can't bake bread unless it comes in a 'womp-um' package.  I doubt that will be the same.  I'm not really worried about it though - already have an offer.  It could fall through but I'd be surprised if it did.

This morning my two youngest daughters had a soccer game (five-year-old scored her team's only two goals, plus one for the other team, heehee).

We came home and watched an abysmal Ohio State performance, and we've been watching college football for the rest of the day.

Tomorrow my oldest daughters will spend the day with my ex.  I'm not sure if my husband and the other girls and I will do anything while they're gone.

The Bug Hunter and I will extract his mother from the Alzheimer's Unit and take her to Chik-fil-a  for lunch.  We'll listen to her tell me how much nicer I am than whoever it was he was married to before.  Which was me, but she thinks the old me died and I'm some new friend of his.  She'll try to feed me ice cream 20 times, put all the napkins in my pocket, tell me how his boys all hated me when I was alive, then pick up his car keys and offer us a ride home.  Fun times.  You're all invited.

lbf: ugh, bad chinese food is perhaps the worst. my sympathies, sir.

sweetsoul: that sounds quite nifty, actually--thank you!

GS: heh...for some reason i had the impression she played wing. and it seems i've known other talented players that the coach wanted to play at goalie from time to time, so i'm familiar w/ the kind of frustration she's experiencing. shame about cingular. oddly, i use that carrier, too, and early cancellation is rough with all carriers AFAICT.

fearing: i've never heard that about baking cookies, but hey, just figured i should mention it. :>

eilan: re: the own goal: um...oops! sadly, i don't pay much attention to college football (i suppose that makes me weird?).

WH: well, i think you're perfectly capable of writing something rewarding to read w/out any help from me, to be perfectly honest. :>

twyla: oboy...that's a rough, rough experience. how do you manage such a thing?
