Hey everyone, we've made some minor updates today. The most noticeable is the popup, but let me reassure everyone that the goal of the popup is to intice people that hit the site from a search engine and are not regular users. Once the cookie is set for the popup (the first time you see it) you'll never see it again unless you clear your cookies or change browsers.

oh, i thought push was a universal term. push is when you have a policy or upgrade you want everyone on your network to have, so you put it in their login script. i don't know exactly what it's called in the html world, but that's how i understand that cookies work. you record my preferences and install a file in my %systemroot%documents and settings/cookies folder that holds those settings. how do you do that? -

I (was) am so ready to come in here and sing the glories of your newsletter idea! I was REALLY happy to see that! Not only do I approve, but you even had the foresight to answer my biggest objection right up front ~ the first thing amateurs would have overlooked, I might add ~ I will not have to look at that pop up for weeks on end until someone's marketing campaign runs out... or when admin finally gets swamped with emailed complaints.
Guys, no offense on you! I've actually SEEN this happen in other Community-based Web Sites. I approve!

i was awfully surprised to see that and i presume the list of favorite blog entries from a few weeks ago is what you'll be drawing from?
sweet rose: me personally, i write a lot of my longer blog entries in MS word and use the spell check feature there. also, some web browsers (e.g., firefox) also have a spell check plug-in you can install to make your life easier. :>

If you use FireFox (a real browser ;) ) you will get spell check through the browser :) Oh, and it's free.

Thanks for the Info ..My son-in-law installed firefox I havent used it cause I am afraid to much on this pc..lol spell check would be wonderful for me as i have developede dyslexia of the Brain if that is possible. (lol) SW~ when I first got here you gave me alink to clikc on that shows how to insert a link of a post already written..of course I misplaced it, deleated it??? never the less I can't find any of those things. If you are using "compose" mode you should have an 'Add Link' button that looks like a globe with a chain link under it. Highlight the text you want to make a link, click that button, and paste in the url of the location you want to link to.

that's not why i thought it was cool, bloc. actually, it was a little surprising that it was my post. and i was a bit embarrassed that the first newsletter had my post in it. i thought it was kind of cool because it's a good strategy for enticing people to join SC. but, as an already member, i think it's cool because the newsletter might feature posts i've missed. :) -

which browser are you using and which version? Do you have javascript turned of (if you don't know the answer is probably no). Try deleting your cookies again then go to an SC page and scroll to the bottom. you have to do it on the first page you go to.

Driving me crazy here..... it keeps damn well popping up and I have cookies set.... so what gives.... I'm no tech head but its truly fucking annoying every time I log on to have that damn window pop up all the time... aggh help soulcast... -
