I seem to be dropping weight.  My appetite is gone and eating has become a chore.  I am told this is directly related to one of the oral diabetic medications I'm taking.  So far, I have dropped about 15 pounds since my initial admission to the hospital on August 18.

It may be partly in my mind too since I am so afraid of eating something that will drive my sugar up.  Even though I am being smart about it, I still am swallowing a good portion of fear.

My endocrinologist  tells  me that after my foot  is  healed that weight loss is going to be our major project.  She tells me the thinner I am, the less medication I will need.  I am all for that.

I have had a few food cravings lately.  I love crackers, popcorn and chocolate. I had a couple crackers but said no to the rest.  My fear keeps me from caving to temptation.  I plan to beat this freaking diabetes.

My mom has been here for a couple days.  She went with my husband to buy some groceries.   He didn't think he could get it right by himself.  (Excuse me while I roll my eyes.)

Since Mom is here, I will probably be slow in responding to comments.  So please be patient.  I will be back to contribute as soon as I can.

I think I'm off for a little nap.  I feel very run down today.

Thanks for all your wonderful kindness.

CW

Thinner is definitely better when it comes to diabetes, CW. Maybe you could try some self hypnosis and put yourself to sleep every night by droning over and over, "I crave celery....I crave celery....I crave celery."

It's good to see you in decent spirits.

thanks for the update CeeDubiya, missing you!! I joined in the eye roll too (funny!) and I also do as you are doing...afraid of what to eat, what is a glucose level in that?
I was very strict with myself back at first but now I eat mostly everything, within reason...I know we will talk once you are back online more about this diet and the joys of diabetes...until then, blessed be, mamie

I'm pleased you are doing better... my brother in law has diabetes. although I am not sure which type but he manages with diet alone.. when his sugar goes through the roof he eats a lot of tuna.. canned stuff... weird but within about two hours his sugars down... all sorts of tricks... I hope you get to a point where it doesn't effect you it sucks and has so many other problems attached... take care and heal well CW

CW thanks for the update;~) The doctor is right about the weight reduction and the medicine. If you slim down enough you could go from insulin to pills. And if on the pills could come off of them and mantain with diet and exercise. GO for it!

And I'm glad Mom is there I know you could use the support. See you soon. You can beat this. I wish my husband could too but his was from childhood.

Cw, I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes a 1 year ago, I take the pill. I lost a lot of weight at first to, the dosage prescribed for me was to strong and I felt very sick and no desire to eat., once I cut my dosage in half, I felt better and my appetite returned.
So just hang in there, your body has to get used to the meds.

CDub, honey, I'm glad your mom is there for you.  Loss of appetite is also common after a surgery too.

This all so new to you, it's very understandable that it's all you can focus on.  But that will get better.  You have the strength to do this.

Rest today.  You deserve it.  Don't feel like you have to amuse your mother.  She's there to help you.  And please tell your charming husband to stop annoying you.

Thanks to everyone for your wonderful words of encouragement.  I just don't have it in me today to respond individually.  Please forgive me.  Just know that I appreciate each and every one of you.

C'mon, CDub, Jenna and I are wide awake and you can sit with your foot up, and we'll all watch a funny movie.

    Laughter makes things more bearable.
