Ah, you're finally here. Sorry I'm so late. The cable guy was late. Well, now that we're all here, I think I can get started. (clinks glass) Can I have your attention please?
First, I want to thank everyone for coming to this little get together, but before we enjoy the festivities, I have a few words I wish to share with you all. If I wait until after dinner, some of you will be too drunk to hear what I have to say(pause for laughter). Anyways, I want you to know that I appreciate you stopping by here. This little space, where I gather the spillovers from my brain has become a greater part of my life each day and I have all of you to thank for that.
We all drink from this cup. We peek into each others lives, what we choose to share here, and we respond, the way we need to. Sometimes we're critical and hurtful, but we're also supportive, caring, honest, and kind. Gotta take the good with the bad, of course, and there have been a few rotten eggs stinking up the joint, but eventually, they go away, only to be replaced by another. This is nothing new, turn turn turn.
It was never in my intentions to be so. I had originally planned this blog site to be a place where I can raise politically controversial issues behind my anonymity. I planned on hiding behind this mask and raising a few eyebrows, along with the blood pressures of many a mainstream politicos. About 11 months ago, I was pretty interested in global politics, and I thought SC would be a good vehicle for me to sharpen my writing teeth, as well as freak out a few squares.
Less than three days into creating my profile and putting up a few blogs, my plans were changed. I had met someone who was using SoulCast the way it was intended to. I met a man who had bared his soul for all to see and judge on his blog. Consistently, too. In every post, this man revealed a part of his soul to be a caring, genuine human being. It impressed me, and it kinda frightened me at the same time. I was blown away by his honesty, his candor. How can one be so brutally honest to himself, to everyone else? What was he hiding? What was his story? The more I learned, the more fascinated I became. Not only was I impressed, I was inspired. I figured, if he can be so honest about himself, maybe I can start being honest with myself as well. So I started to reveal a thing or two about myself, in order for me to admit a few things to myself. I tell you all, it's been great. Liberating, in fact, not only to admit stuff to yourself, but to the whole entire world! What a feeling!
This is my rest stop on the information highway. This is where I pull over, have a drink, and relax. I want you to know that over this last year, you have been a tremendous help to me. You've been my confessor, my therapist, my teacher, my cheerleader, my friend, my secret crush(You have no idea). I know that I can always count on your advice, your support, your two cents, your heart, your smile. It means the world to me to know that you are here, diligently typing away, reading me, reading you.
So this is the part of speech where I raise my glass in a toast. I want you all to raise your glasses with me, and think about the time we spend here together, in our respective homes, but together nonetheless. We're all gathered here, on the same web address, spending time with each other, crying, laughing, living together.
And so my toast is to you. Thank you for being here, thank you for being in my life, and thanks always, for stopping by.

Thanks for stopping in. See, the thing is, I used to go in spurts, and then I'd stop for a while, then I miss you all and come back. I stopped for many reasons, the last time being situations beyond my control, but I always kept you close to my heart.
It seems like the longest I can stay away is about a month or so, and I've done that a few times in my brief year here, so in many ways, I still feel like a rookie, or a noob of sorts. I always seem to miss out on all the fun stuff, and I come in after the fact, scratching my head and wondering, "wha happened here?"
Well, I'm back, and I should be back for good now. I've broken up with my gf and she's not here to tell me that blogging's lame, or it's dumb, or whatever else she used to say to discourage me anymore.

Congrats on being here a year Grape....I guess being here 'bout a year goes for me too although I don't know if you got here first...simply don't remember exact date. But I am raising a glass of wine and toasting to you and this wonderful from-the-heart post that you put up. I used to drink stronger stuff but them days have passed and now I mostly drink a decent nice tasting red wine (from Spain or Chile preferably) and toast to you.

Back now... It looks like this party's starting to pick up.
Glad everyone could make it. Cannolis, tiramisu, cheesecake, man... They're going to go straight to my thighs.... :) No, I kid. It goes straight to my belly. A little weight gain is a good thing for me at this point, though I don't want to go over 160. Looks like there's plenty to drink, too. Martinis, margaritas, streamers and balloons.... It's starting to look like a real party here.
As to the man who altered my blogging experience, he no longer posts as often as he used to, but he used to be a fixture here. Due to an unfortunate incident with a couple of uber-trolls, who took it upon themselves to go visit the man, he was forced to take down his posts and go away for a while. He drops by once in a while, but it's not the same as having him around here. I miss his heart, and his posts about Boo. I picture him strong, with his health recovered, his kitchen smelling of fresh bread and him in love with his family.
As to my secret crush, I guess it wouldn't be a secret if I talked about it openly, now would it? She doesn't know I have a crush on her, it's just a torch that I carry. Funny thing, this online crush. It's not like I know what she looks like, I guess I have a crush on her brain, to be more specific. I know very little about her. It's like a junior-high/puppy love type of a crush, I guess. It's not like I know her in any other way besides from our limited interactions on SC. :)
Enough about my crush. Let's get back to the party. Tonight, we're celebrating You, and me with You for over a year.
Scoot over and make a little room for me, will you ladies? Who knows? I could forget all about my crush and develop a new one overnight!

Grape and guests!...Forgive my late arrival. I ve been participating in harvesting the huge crab apple tree in my front yard. I ve brought some of the results for all to enjoy. A huge vat of fresh crab apple juice for the non imbibers and big bucket of rosy crab apple liqueur. A stop at the fromagerie yielded about a dozen cheeses with some lovely crackers and toasts. We ll celebrate your year here in mega party mode Grape. Your speech had me sniffling and smiling. Does there happen to be any of your moms rice porridge around...........I m right hungry for some. -

LG: I would hazard that there are many things we like that are similar, crab cakes and crab salad being but two of them.
My little man loves crab meat as long as he doesn't see where it comes from. In other words, he can't see the crab legs that I get crab meat out of. :) Same goes for lobster. He can't see the lobster, or he won't eat it.
And yes, he likes imitation crab meat with his string cheese too. It's good stuff together! -

Yes Grape! The crabapple juice is tart. Leaves one just a little tingly and puckered. Snagged a mango cheesecake on the way home and whipped up a very nice tray of lobster stuffed button mushroom caps. Hope they add to the festivities. The mystery damsel has two children by any chance? -
