I seem to be a magnet.  It goes in cycles of course which I am convinced is in line with the phases of the moon.  I also believe the effect is multiplied due to living near San Francisco and being surrounded by the bay, the pull of the water.

When I first moved to San Francisco the pull was noticeable to my roommate.  Certain times of the month I could literally walk up the street and collect business cards - men wanting to take me out and asking me to call them.  No, I wasn't sitting in bars either, this literally happened as I walked in my business suit from my office to the parking garage.  At one point we had created a wall of cards.  My roommate found it amusing for some reason.  I guess she should have because one night we were watching the news and a San Francisco Homicide Detective was being interviewed.  She recognized the name and could not figure out why until she walked over to The Wall and located his business card.

Anyway, I don't collect cards anymore, but I do enjoy the stories.  One week not long ago, this magnetic pull seemed to be at its full force.  I was driving into the office and had to stop at a red light on the Embarcadero.  When I stopped, Lou Seal, the mascot for the San Francisco Giants baseball team, was standing there.  He ran right up to my car and made me roll down the window and hold out my hand so he could kiss it!

I thought that was entertaining and a one shot thing ... not the old magnetism acting up.  That was until I went out to lunch with two male co-workers.  We were seated in a bar/restaurant eating when I started feeling self-conscious which is not like me.  I looked up and realized a man in a skirt was checking me out.  He was probably six feet tall, skinny, and had a manly jaw.  He was clearly wearing a wig - it was black and reminded me of Liza Minelli.  He was wearing a long black skirt with a beige pattern through it and black pumps.  In between sipping his martini, he would turn away from the bar and stare at me ... it was creepy.

As our check came I noticed he was no longer at the bar though his martini was and thought it would be a great time to leave.  Halfway up the street however I heard a voice behind me ... yes, it was a man's voice trying to fake a higher pitch ... "Excuse me Miss, hey Miss ..."

I stopped and turned around to see that yes, he (or she??) had followed me out of the bar.  "My name is Shawn, I was hoping you'd let me buy you a cocktail" he said.  I politely declined as I truly had to get back to work.  In all honesty though I would have loved sitting there with him for an hour or more jus to get the story!

I'll tell you another time about my old business partner who was named Shawn and why just the name made this story even more humorous to me at the time!

So what do you think?  I find it flattering to be attractive to all races and orientations!
