That's pantry, with an "R".  Don't get all excited now.

What's your best sick-day comfort?  You know, that one thing that you always do to pamper and soothe yourself once you realize you're sick?

See, my cold is probably turning into a sinus infection.  I'm not surprised; this has happened pretty much every time, ever since I was a little girl.  I woke up this morning feeling like my head was packed with concrete and thinking that I would perhaps not kill, but certainly maim, for some soup.

But then, while I was rooting around on our bookshelf-cum-pantry this morning, I discovered a forgotten Celestial Seasonings sample pack, and it still had a bag or two of Sleepytime tea left!  Glee!  Sleepytime is my absolute favorite comfort when I don't feel good.  Especially when I'm congested.  It's so soothing and warm, but it's got a bit of mint in it.  So it's not as overpowering as a full-blown mint tea, and it's got more flavor, but still all the head-clearing, throat-soothing effects of menthol.  And since I always make it for myself when I'm sick, just the smell of it has associations, for me, of taking time out to relax, take care of myself, feel better.  It's as close as I get anymore to being tucked in and read to and watched over by my mom, now that I'm grown up.

sorry you aren't feeling well, nyt. :<

me, i always find a bowl of soup and a sandwich good comfort food. if it's cool enough out, any stew or chili--or anything goopy, like mac & cheese. :>

I should survive it.  Thanks for the well-wishes :)

I forgot to add that lolcats make a great pick-me-up when I just need to laugh about something - especially when I've been away for a few days and there's pages and pages to catch up on!

    Great link! :-D

I'm predictable like Ed there - soup is good when I'm sick. :)

Sorry to hear that your sickies are turning into sinus nastiness - that's rough stuff. Can you take anything for it? I have a suggestion or two, but if you can't get it there or can't take certain meds, it won't be of much use.

Yah, it's icky, but I'm so used to it by now.  Like I said, it happens -every time- I get a cold.  Ugh.  Fortunately I already had a doctor's appointment early next week, and she'll probably give me antibiotics once she finds out.  Being diabetic has its perks ;)

I have no problems with any meds, lucky me.  I don't even have any allergies.  Normally I stick to basics - acetominophen, pseudoephedrine during the day, and Nyquil to sleep.  And hot tea and good old-fashioned salt water to gargle or (gross but effective) snort up the nose :p  Hey, maybe my doctor will have another of those saline nasal sprays...a bit less messy that way.

What are your suggestions? I'm open for new ideas!
