When my grandparents met and got married it
really was "until death do us part" They met at 16
and were married by 18. My grandfather passed away
at 75 and my grandmother never married..
My parents met after WWII. They were in their mid 20's
and remained married until my dad passed at 70.
Mom never remarried and to this day is mad because
he "left" her... even though she had 10 kids...
I was a child of the 60's ... Had a 12 month vacation in
Viet Nam and after that was all for free love and such..
I was married by 25, finish college and had 2 sons..
In the mid to late 70's women's rights and freedoms
came to the fore front... no bras and equal rights...
My wife left to find herself and never came back...
In the 80's & early 90's I saw the majority of my friends marriages
bite the dust because one or the other found someone else.
In the 2000's, people arn't so quick to jump into marriage.
I have two daughers who waited until their early 30's and a son
who is in his mid 30's and has no intention of settling down..
The reason, is one after another relationship ended because
of their s/o cheated; not on line but physically in bed..
With all the blogs over the last 6 months about cheating in
every manner known to man, and with divorce rate reaching
for 60%... is Monogamy Dead ??? Is Marriage Dead ???
Is it just easier to live with your S/O and "play" house and if
it doesn't work out, it's just easier to split and go your own ways ??
I know myself, if my bride and I were ever to break up, I'd never
get remarried again... I may live with someone but never tie the
knot so so speak again...
Do yo agree ????
