Well after getting up a bit early in Milan we go to get our breakfast where we have our insistant cappucino. As we're eating theres some people speaking spanish by us and my mom brightens up and tells them in spanish that it's nice to finally hear some. We go to the train station and we're off to Luzern, Switzerland. I think this was the ride where we went through the Alps. I saw a few waterfalls here and there, it was so pretty.
Sorry for the glare of my camera, trains and all, you know. I also saw a cogwheel train thing, that my Dad had loved to talk about a long time ago. Only thing my mom made sure I got a picture of.
I was following the train on the map though, and matching up the little cities when we drove by and finally realized I had picked the wrong city. We had to be back in Paris in a couple days so I thought I had picked Lusanne, which is closer to France and silly me thought the Italians spelled it different and I picked Luzern. I was a little disappointed just because Lusanne had a really big lake by it and looked beautiful, but it was ok we wouldn't be as far as Zurich, but just not as close as Lusanne. Anyway, when we arrive it's not to late like when we got to our other cities about 1pm perhaps. We lug all our luggage around the some close streets where we see some hotels. One hotel looked nice, but was extordarily expensive. We went to a couple more close by that one and they too were really expensive, probably the most we came across, except maybe London. My mom gets the idea that one of us should go a little farther out to see what we could find. She wants me to do it, but I wasn't feeling so confident and decided not to. She leaves me sitting on a bench outside the train station with all our stuff right by the corner on a busy intersetion. I waited at least an hour for her, I was getting scared she got lost or something and sitting by all that traffic didn't help. I've heard how Switzerland is suppose to be the healthiest place to live or whatever, but breathing by all those cars for an hour destroyed that for me. She comes back and doesn't find anything better, but is going on and on about how pretty it is around here. We decide to take one of the close by ones, so we head out again and we see a hotel we decided to ignore for some reason when we checked before. It was the cheapest from our all inquiries that day and we take it right away. It had the smallest elevator I've ever seen, we could barely fit both of us in with our stuff.
Finally our stuff is safe and I'm starving and feel really bad from sitting by so many cars. We go back to the train station to see what there is to eat. There was a guy selling hot dogs and we get those, very yummy again. We go outside to eat them and I see a red Ferrari drive by. I get my camera ready in case it comes by again and I took this of the train station
Was a really nice day out. So we decide to walk past the station to this bridge that leads to lots of interesting things it looked like. On our way the Ferrari is back and I took a picture of it. I already put it on Flickr awhile ago, so I'll just leave it like that. I was pretty happy I got a picture of it and then I see a tourist stand with little cow bells. From the train I'd laugh ever time I saw a cow with a cow bell on it, just because I didn't really think they did that, but they do, so of course I wanted one. My mom stalls me and tells me to wait. We start walking over the bridge and I finally see what my mom is talking about. Luzern is right by a big lake. We take some pictures there just because it was so very pretty.
I mean there's even swans in the lake, I don't know whose those people are in this last one. So anyway, we walk around it a little bit and take it all in. I'm a little envious of the people on boats who look like they live there and go on their boat everyday. We start to walk back and we see a chocolate place and then we see there's tons of shops down here. It's the tourist part so we go down there and walk around a little bit. I see a place where there is all natural ice cream or something, which sounded especially good in Switzerland, but no my momma wouldn't go for it. After that we head to our hotel to rest. As we get closer to it, I see there's tons of kids who look younger then me smoking and they have beer, then I see we're staying close to some bars and clubs, which doesn't make me to happy.
After we relax for a bit we head out again. I had read up on some history from a brochure I had found and apparently there's some very old things around. There's a tower that's pretty famous there. The one thing I remember best is there is a carved lion in a cave or stone that Mark Twain said was the saddest lion he'd ever seen or something like that. I was hopeing to see that, but was confused where it was exactly. We took a different way this time toward the bridge and I run into another Ferrari, this one is yellow, but was to fast to take a picture of. I keep wondering if it was the same guy, and just felt like switching to his yellow Ferrari for the rest of the day. As we head along we come to another little bridge by the bigger one we were on eariler and apart of the tower. Inside it had these scary pictures all along it.
Was kinda creepy and I didn't exactly understand why they had to be scary in such a pretty place. We finally make it out of there and it's getting darker out.
I keep noticing a big house or perhaps castle in the hills there and I'm still not sure what it is. We start to head towards that and we go past all the little shops again. I'm getting hungary and we start looking for a place to eat. My mom keeps going further away from the tourist places and she see's a police car and suggests I take a picture to show my brother. She's funny.
As we keep going, some people stop me and ask where something is. Perhaps I look Swiss now, but it was nice to be asked and I showed them my map to help them as best as I could. I finally start getting cranky and insisting we eat, so she picks a bar type place that is well away from tourists. We go inside, since most people were outside with just a drink and talking. The waitress asks if we speak german and I said very little, so she asks another girl to help us. I get something called weinerschintizel, I'm not kidding, just like the hot dog fast food place, which I thought was a made up german type name. Turned out to be breaded and fried pieces of pork I think, was really good. I was super thirsty and I finally notice how they never give you refills in Europe or water unless you ask, and it gets complicated with sparkled and still or bottled or from the tap. We start back to our hotel and pass by the busier clubs now and bars. Seems just like any kind of bar or club in the US and we get to our room. I thought I wouldn't be able to sleep, but I closed the window and it turned out to be just fine. There is more to come of course, I'll get there eventually.
