    I make one very similar to this and it's delicious! It seems odd that you don't use a liquid (juice or milk), is the consistency different than normal?

    bloc--it's a bit creamier because it's yogurt based but then the more ice you add the more it makes it "slushier". i usually go with the 4 ice cubes but more can be added.

    I am going to make this one too, I would never have thought to put honey in  a smoothie.

    I used to use honey, but I'm trying to cut back the amount of sugar I eat.

    bloc- is honey that bad?
  • silverwhisper said on Aug 27, 2007....

    Mom--Yes, Honey can be bad for you in large quantities just as sugar can. Honey is actually a "sugar" as are glucose, lactose, fructose, and high fructose corn syrup. Honey is a flower nectar but the body processes it or metabolizes it in the same way that it does sugar. So, while honey is naturally occurring sugar and not processed sugar, you have to be aware of how you metabolize it.

    But look at it this way, even with the honey in it, and the minimal amount of lactose (the sugar occurring naturally in milk/dairy product), this smoothie is better for you than say a Snickers bar that you have run through the blender.

    Zayda- I just figured that since honey was natural that it might be better for you than sugar.  I know that a lot of people use it instead of sugar, but I never really thought about it.  LOLOLOL about the snickers.  I hadn't even thought about blending one. I wonder if that would be good in a smoothie?
  • Zayda said on Aug 27, 2007....
    I think the ingredients in a snickers would be good in a smoothie--chocolate (or cocoa for less sugar), peanuts (or peanut butter), and caramel. You could use the basic ingredients that make up a Snickers but not get all the processed sugar that comes in a Snickers if you take a healthier approach to the amount of ingredients.

    I have a recipe for an "Elvis" smoothie somewhere that involves peanut butter and bananas. I'll see if I can dig it up.

    Hmm..I'm gonna have to go buy the stuff to make this. It sounds so delicious!

    @mom
    Honey is better than sugar, i.e. processed sugar. The worst of them is high fructose corn syrup.
