I am not allowed to CARRY my cell phone on me at work. So in a sly but perfectly legal manuever, I stash it in the drawer of my station while I am working. I am required to be at my station at least once an hour to recount all monies. So once an hour, I check my phone.
This is perfectly allowed as it does not in any way interfere with my ability to do my job.
Unfortunately, this drawer is not locked. And while not just anyone is allowed in my station, it is the GENERAL station for supervisors, not mine alone. Are you getting a sense of impending doom here? Well relax, it wasn't THAT bad. My phone wasn't stolen or anything.
But my supervisor was bored and decided it would be a pip to read my text messages. And as I haven't yet removed a very long and painful discussion from my text messages, she had some questions. She hasn't had any good soaps to watch lately I guess.
I gave her the skeleton version of my two days off and she sent a text message from my phone. Laughing. She thought it would be funny. I'm reaching over her back, saying "God don't send that!" And she's LAUGHING.
So now the person I essentially dumped thinks *I* called him an asshole. I'm in the wrong here. I did the dirty work. It was all me.
There was no call for that. But she thought it was HILARIOUS. I was upset. She said to my upset "Oh just tell him it was me."
Like that makes everything better.

LG - your manager abused your trust by reading and replying. You didn't allow yourself to do something you knew was wrong here. You didn't cause an accident. Sending that txt message didn't kill or maim anyone. You didn't send it. There isn't much here to beat yourself up about.
