I am not allowed to CARRY my cell phone on me at work. So in a sly but perfectly legal manuever, I stash it in the drawer of my station while I am working. I am required to be at my station at least once an hour to recount all monies. So once an hour, I check my phone.
This is perfectly allowed as it does not in any way interfere with my ability to do my job.
Unfortunately, this drawer is not locked. And while not just anyone is allowed in my station, it is the GENERAL station for supervisors, not mine alone. Are you getting a sense of impending doom here? Well relax, it wasn't THAT bad. My phone wasn't stolen or anything.
But my supervisor was bored and decided it would be a pip to read my text messages. And as I haven't yet removed a very long and painful discussion from my text messages, she had some questions. She hasn't had any good soaps to watch lately I guess.
I gave her the skeleton version of my two days off and she sent a text message from my phone. Laughing. She thought it would be funny. I'm reaching over her back, saying "God don't send that!" And she's LAUGHING.
So now the person I essentially dumped thinks *I* called him an asshole. I'm in the wrong here. I did the dirty work. It was all me.
There was no call for that. But she thought it was HILARIOUS. I was upset. She said to my upset "Oh just tell him it was me."
Like that makes everything better.

Who the hell does that woman think she is?  What a bitch!

She was totally, completely in the wrong.  What she did was really cruel (to both you and him) and in very poor taste, to say the least.

    People like this infuriate me.

your phone should have a lockdown capability, LG. do use it when you're at work?

Someone needs a lesson in taking things that dont belong to them. Preferably by breaking their fingers one by one....

Thats just wrong. And unfunny. But sadly, sounds like par for the course of the crappy people around you....
  • silverwhisper said on Aug 23, 2007....
i think LG should nab that person's mobile phone and return the favor.

OMIGOD! That was completely rude! Reading it was immature and then texting someone is outright disrespectful! I hope you threw a hissy fit!
  • Alyss said on Aug 23, 2007....
That was totally out of order!  Damn but she really over stepped the line there. I hope that he understands that is wasn't you.

  • silverwhisper said on Aug 25, 2007....
it does matter, if one learns the wrong lesson from it.

  • LadyGamer said on Aug 25, 2007....
What lesson would that be ed?
Don't leave your phone unattended? Don't ever trust anyone with anything?
Or maybe.... the lesson is this... Some people were not made to interact well with others. There has to be some psych term for what's wrong with me.
  • silverwhisper said on Aug 27, 2007....
the lesson would be: don't leave your phone unattended. me, i'd yank the battery when leaving it.

and no, that last sentence is simply not the case. you handle irritation and frustration by internalizing it and making everything your fault. this is not healthy, LG.

A lot of very bad memories, ed. Very bad.

But LG, ed's right. Most would have never touch  your cellphone without asking you first. Reading somebody's private text messages? Rude. Replying? Incredibly rude.

Clean the saved txt messages off your cellphone. Lock it if you can. You know there's one manager you can't trust with your cellphone.

LG, Listen to us. We are correct in this instance.

    YOU DID NOT DO THIS.
  • Expendable said on Aug 27, 2007....

I don't know. My bad memories are pretty deep. Hers might be deeper.

LG - your manager abused your trust by reading and replying. You didn't allow yourself to do something you knew was wrong here. You didn't cause an accident. Sending that txt message didn't kill or maim anyone. You didn't send it. There isn't much here to beat yourself up about.
