He was someone who was against this relationship right from the beginning. He wanted R to date his then gf's friend. So that leaves me thinking.

  DesertMermaid.  These dreams are sure particular. Dreaming that someone gives you a ring usually means marriage. But it could be something else in this case. The creatures that is strange also the color. I think this is symbolic and maybe only you yourself can figure it out.

  desert, I've actually studied dream interpretation for about 13 years. There are books you can buy about it. It's a very interesting subject to get into. You can learn a lot! I'm glad what I said helped you understand what was happening here :-) Some dreams are meaningless, but this one was filled with little clues. You just have to know what how to interpret them.   I didnt know that. Why didnt you say it e_t. So many can benefit with such valuable advice like me. You must write about it e_t. Everyone should know what a genius you are.

  I really dont know how to thank you e_t. Sure I will bug you a lot. Since I dream every other night. But I forget most.

  You know things are falling into place now. I remember that in the dream R told me that his brother chose the ring and he didnt like it much. But I found it cute. Maybe it means that his brother will influence him. They are really close. He is very protective specially since I hurt R the first time. But he is a great friend understands me very well. So maybe he will see that it wont work for us and R wont like it.

  Now the friend. He is unknown to me but I heard he though otherwise good, is a great flirt. I suspect vain too. Maybe he represents the people who might try to make it with me after R. There are quite a lot of them. They are just lusting and wont commit. So that explains the big bright red stones that I didnt like.

  What strikes me particularly is that even though I didnt like that earring or nose ring, I accepted it anyway. I wonder if it means I will fall into it knowing well that its not right. That worries me a lot. Specially the dishonour part.

  As for the people in your dreams, their significance really is up to you to interpret since I don't know the history or the relationships well enough to know what that means. But just knowing what some of the symbolism is, helps you to determine what you need to learn from the dream.
  
  I also forget to mention that gold is a symbol of purity, and the fact that these gold rings had red and black stones on them, mean that you're letting the negative things overwhelm your purity.

  Ok thank god for the purity part, that sounds more like me. So to say, it sounds better.

  I'm taking the dream as a warning rather than a prediction. Thats to enable me to exercise my will. I'm having second thoughts about leaving R. Though I was not decided in the first place. I think I would be ruined without him. I'm confused and hoping I'll have another dream tonight that might help. Lets see.

  Desert, thank you :-) And I just want to clarify that your dream isn't prophetic. It's just your minds way of alerting you to issues that you have going on inside your head. Figuring out what they mean is a great way to deal with the problems and fix them. When you went to sleep last night, all of this stuff was on your mind whether you were aware of it or not. And the dream was just an extension of your own thoughts and fears. So, by all means, use this knowledge to change the things you don't like. That's the whole point :-)

  Interpreting dreams is something I'm interested in too! But I see that someone else already did that for you. But you really can learn a lot about yourself if you pay close attention to dreams. Write them down in a journal if you can remember them. That's what I do. And sometimes when you do that, you see a recurring theme or imagery.

  my dreams are never fun.  when people think of dreaming they make it seem like fun but i don't have cheery dreams.  does anyone?  i'd like to know if other people have happy dreams.
  
  my dreams will often include one of two themes, either personal danger and challenge, or being lost on public transportation, either bus or train, and not knowing my way home.
  
  i have to think that our dreams have a purpose.  everything else seems to.  i am guessing that i have dreams of challenge because i need to toughen up to be here.  is it possible that when we are asleep we are in a softer and gentler place, and we have to toughen up to reawaken and survive here?

  mermaid, that has to mean something that R isn't giving you anything but his brother and his friend are.  do you like his brother and his friend?  maybe the dream is saying, among other things, that R isn't giving you anything, but these other people are.  by "giving you anything" it can be taken in ways other than gifts.  maybe he's just not giving you anything, spiritually or emotionally speaking, not making you feel anything, not offering anything you can use.

  lfbno7, your dream about not being able to find a suitable bathroom is incredibly common. And generally it represents repressed emotions that you're unable to release, for fear of judgment from others. Also, if you really do have to go to the bathroom, you're more likely to have this dream, and the significance is diminished in that case.
