The funny thing about it is that the Bible prophecies it before it is happening. Everyday I look at the news I hear about floods, earth quakes, death and etc which was said to happen at the last days...

Scientists on the other hand have there own explanation global warming, just as they have there own theory of evaluation.

floods, earthquakes, and death happen all the time. next year, at around the same seasonal time, you will hear these same stories again in the news. once in a while a big earthquake hits and everyone gets scared and pray for salvation.

people have been predicting the biblical end times for milennia. i'm sure they will continue to do so for at least as long.

The world is always ending...and always renewing. Fertile fields follow forest fires. Floods refill aquifers. The loss of one species brings forth new forms of life.

Even when the Sun dies off and the Earth is left a cold, lifeless husk or is consumed, the material will eventually be re-formed into a new planet or fuel another star. New life may even spring from the material of which we are currently composed.

Yes, the world is ending. Rather than hang on to the old, let us turn from our old ways, rejoice and embrace the new life that death affords us.

  • SeanRenaud said on Aug 22, 2007....
You need more evidence than that.  Also it's spelled evolution.
  • shiningstar said on Aug 22, 2007....
I believe that we have created an unsustainable lifestyle in the western world and we are drawing all others into it. The foundation that we have built out governments,  religions and our lives upon is not a sure foundations as it is een to be falling apart.  Jesus came to teach us a new way that would free us but instead we learned what relgion said he taught.  The ending of time,  is coming,  but it is just an ending of looking at the watch for all things that have been so important will not seem so.  A new world is coming but there will be a lot of unpleasant things going on before it gets here unless we wake up and start doing the things that we should be doing instead of what we are told to do. We are all greatly loved and we will see great things as our brothers and sisters beyond the stars come to help us find our selves, renew ourselves and take our rightful place among them.

  • anonymous said on Aug 23, 2007....
Of course it is comming to an end - The human kind is destroying the earth and only One person can do something about it. The evidence is clear - the new world is just around the corner.

Hey, anybody - regardless of ethnicity, religious background, geography, personal past, etc. - who lives for Jesus Christ is all good even if the world ends in 15 minutes.

Lately the world has come to end for a lot of people.  It's essentially a meaningless question.
  • shiningstar said on Aug 24, 2007....
It may be a stupid question kelly but look around there are far more stupid and gross ones floating around about things that mean absolutely nothing. At least this question is about something besides what hairbow one might wear to day or what movie star is doing what. Peace
  • kelly said on Aug 25, 2007....
I did not say it was a stupid question.  I said it was meaningless.  In fact, we are lucky to be able to enjoin in such meaningless dialog when a good chunk of the world is struggling to survive let alone ponder how many angels can dance on the head of a pin.

But what I mean was that it's meaningless because for many people--and one day for you and me no matter what--the world is going to end.  Floods, famine, earthquakes, locusts and homosexuality aren't going to signal end times.  We're just going to keep on living and butchering ourselves the way we've been doing for thousands of years.
  • micah78 said on Aug 25, 2007....

Interesting comments... As far as I can several of you are referring to God and his name Jehovah as mentioned in the Bible. For those who are acknowledging what the Bible says, why are you not using the answers it gives to this topic question?

What is Gods characteristic and most important?
What should signal the end times?
What is going to happen after the “end times”?

Why don’t you let the Bible give the answer instead of guessing?

  • shiningstar said on Aug 25, 2007....
Because we do not want to michac 78.  I think eveeryone that can read can answer your question IF they choose to read the Bible  AND IF they CHOOSE to accept anyone of it's many answers. Kelly I repeat,  the world we have known is crumbling before our eyes and it is up to us whether we want to try and recreate what  has proven to not work or to do something different and do what does work.Peace

"Kelly I repeat, the world we have known is crumbling before our eyes and it is up to us whether we want to try and recreate what has proven to not work or to do something different and do what does work."

Actually, this is not true. The world is going on as it always has. Perhaps your world looks like it is crumbling but I assure you, the world is the same violent and natural-disaster ridden place it always was. Quite possibly it's a little less violent given a recent study that examined violence and found it to be going down slightly in comparison to history.

Still, I like the second part of your sentence very much. The world doesn't have to be in end times to try to make it better since it's not even close to being perfect now. And you don't have to be religious to do this.
  • shiningstar said on Aug 25, 2007....
Kelly,  are you reading the housing news,  the banks and mortgage lender problems and hear of the national debt?  These are just a few of the things that Americans are facing as their world crumbles.Peace
  • SeanRenaud said on Aug 25, 2007....
Ever heard of a thing called the Great Depression?  It was a lot worse than this and uh we got through it.
  • shiningstar said on Aug 25, 2007....
Are you guys kidding  me?  We are not even in "it" yet and what lies before America is not going to be pretty.  One can only stay on these shaky foundations for so long until they begin to fall.  The teachings of Jesus included.Talk to me in six months.  But SR you won't believe it anyway until it is written down somewhere so you can read it.Peace
  • SeanRenaud said on Aug 25, 2007....
I won't believe it until I see it no.  As for speaking about historical facts y yeah I do need it written down.  I can make up stories about Jesus, or Henry the 8th, or Ceasar just as easily as you can.  It doesn't make them facts.
  • kelly said on Aug 26, 2007....
"These are just a few of the things that Americans are facing as their world crumbles."

As their world crumbles, not the world.  That was my point.
  • micah78 said on Aug 26, 2007....

Shiningstar, I'm just thinking that if so many really believe in God why don't they rely on his promises? You are quoting Jesus yourself who also stated some very clear signals of what is going to happen and how and he doesn't say anything about the world will come to an end because America experience another depression - The world is more than just America.

  • machershey said on Aug 26, 2007....

Thank you all for your comments I didn't expect such a reason. What I discovered when I watch the news and in my everyday walk in life is that we as a people have a need and there is a time limit to acquire that need. I believe the anxiety of the end of time lies in the inner fear of running out of time to achieve that goal, desire, material etc...

  • shiningstar said on Aug 26, 2007....
Micah78--Where did I ever say "just America?".  Machershey.  It has been a most interesting post and I do so thank you for beginning it.  For me it is not about running out of time.  It is a new beginning whereas all of the things that we have seen not working for the common good of all people now begin to work for them.It is the ending of the old and the beginning of the new and nothing will be untouched.  Our prayers, our dreams are being answered  in a most profound way. Peace will be on Earth.
  • SeanRenaud said on Aug 26, 2007....
For the common good of all?  We're not ants.  We don't care about the common good save when it coincides with the good for I AM.
  • shiningstar said on Sep 14, 2007....
Perhaps it is that attitude that got us into the situation that we face.Common good for all meaning clean and plentiful food, water,  shelter and a voice in our world.  Common good meaning equality for women.  An end of violence and war. An end to oppressiom and suppression.  Peace on Earth.
  • SeanRenaud said on Sep 14, 2007....
Shining you have me on block because I'm smarter than you.  Spare yourself the embarassment and go back to your blogs where without me you now mostly respond your self.

There really is no common good.  It's about us as individuals and yeah we help each other out when we can but that's not our general nature.  What your suggesting isn't feasible with human beings.

There are problems we can fix and will fix.  One day we will eradicate world hunger, it's years and years and some nifty inventions away but we'll fix it.   Equality for women is a tough one, in democratic nations they have nearly everything and then some.  They seem to be having a difficult time proving that women actually make less money these days, legally they seem to be superior in a number of ways.  More likely to win child custody, more likely to win law suits in general, can cry sexual harrassment and GENERALLY win.  Shall we talk about female vs male child molesters or murderers and their conviction rates?  I'm not saying women have everything they should right now, but I think the majority of women's power groups are merely man haters at this point.

And end of violence and war, well the short answer is not bloody likely but it would be nice to see it happen eventually.  The problem is that people refuse to accept capitalism as what it is, an alternative to violence and war.  So we're years away from that move.  It might never happen, violence is part of human nature and there really might not be a way to fix it.

Oppression and suppression.  Yeah but not for a long long time.  Maybe never, all people will never be treated as equals because all people aren't equal.  It's a simple fact.
  • shiningstar said on Sep 15, 2007....
I have you on block only because you have created a knack for turning everything around as if it is a game and "you win".  Also for language that to me is not needed in any intelligent conversations where people can choose a better language to communicate with others.  For me this is not about win SR.  It is about learning knowledge and with what little I can share you appear to enjoy destroying what of it that you can.  To me that is not blogging,  communicating,  having a conversation or sharing knowledge. Your way seems to me to be only knoccking every one down at eery chance that you get.  You are keen in so many ways but for me you do take away the joy of posting and the joy of sharing. Peace
  • SeanRenaud said on Sep 15, 2007....
Then keep doing as your doing and debating with your self, I just notice that you have multiple blogs where you are talkign to yourself now.  Myself and occasionally lidstrom are the only people who are willing to stoop low enough to speak to you because your wrong.  And of course I can turn everything in my favor, its' cus I'm right.  If I wasnt' right I wouldn't be able to twist it

In many cultures there are stories about world cycles. We are coming to an end of a cycle. The Mayans put this as at 2012, when their remarkably accurate calendar ends. The Hopis and other AmeriIndians tribes have been warning and predicting specific earth changes, accurately, since they became public about their teachings sometime in the 1990's. They even went to the UN General Assembly to spread their warning about how the abuse of the earth and its peoples was bringing on a calamity.......................................... In the Jewish tradition there is both the open and the hidden traditions. The hidden traditions called Kabbalah (and don't take Madonna as someone who can understand this at all --except on a kindergarten level) also talks about cycles of the world. We are definitely coming into the end of a period of a cycle, but not a cycle itself, according to most views. We are going into the storm and when the storm ends we will have a better world, not a non world. According to some Kabbalists this universe has existed for 18 billion years, so we've gone through a few changes since then.... How do we protect ourselves: by being decent human beings to our families, our neighbors, our environment, all the animals and all the plants. The Rebbe of Lubavitch summed it up by saying : do acts of kindness... Of course those who believe that they have no Creator cannot see this, but that is their problem. Not mine.
  • kelly said on Sep 20, 2007....
"do acts of kindness... Of course those who believe that they have no Creator cannot see this, but that is their problem. "

Please. One doesn't need to believe in mythical beings to do acts of kindness. One also doesn't need to be privy to some grade school equivalent of a secret club to be committed to being a positive influence in the world.
  • shiningstar said on Sep 20, 2007....
I agree Kelly.  Regardless of what one believes in or who the world is better off if we can all perform acts of kindness.  I  think that for me the word would be respect.  In a world full of every kind of beliefs and people we must learn to not only tolerate but to have respect for self,  our brothers and sisters,  our food, water and air and all of the planet. We all sink or swim regardless of if we believe in a diety or not.Peace
