I do enjoy reading them but I give them no credence. They are pure entertainment for me.

I love astrology!! I think that the horoscopes you see are mostly stupid, but I like the books about your personality and star signs. I think those are pretty good! :)
I also see why this horoscope reading was important to you. It tells you everything you need to know right now. It's not really a prediction, but advice. I liked reading it :) I think that you should really pay attention to what it's saying. It'll help!

I've been writing horoscopes pro bono for 15 years. Reading the sun signs printed in various publications is very misleading. If a prediction printed in the newspaper, for example, holds true for you, it is probably coincidental, unless you have a strong sun in your chart.
To be sure, the sun is the most influential in your chart, but it may be heavily modified by the moon, and its position and sign, as well as the time of the day in which you were born. Let's say two Virgos are born on the same day. One is born early morning with a Capricorn moon and the other born in the evening with an Aquarius moon. You are describing two very different people, even though they are born on the same day.
The morning Virgo is a go-getter and very ambitious, inclined probably to the health field, with a strong mars, could possibly become a surgeon. The evening Virgo is very friendly, and dependent on others. This person may like pets and could become a veterinarian, with the help of a partner.
This is a brief example of how the time of day can completely change a personality and why a reading out of a newspaper or magazine lacks credibility.
There are also several schools of astrology that don't always agree and the reason you need somebody who knows both you and your chart before any accurate predictions can be made. Astrologers are like artists: drawing a word picture of yourself, but each artist is going to see you a bit differently. However, the overall image from each artist should paint your picture in much the same way.
Just remember your physical body is made of the same atoms as the sun and moon. You were born into a particular family, in a particular community, in a particular country...at a particular time in history. Why? Why can you get along with some people, but not with others? Why do you have wonderful luck one week, and everything goes wrong the next? Those are the kind of questions that astrologers answer better than in any other artform.
Cool Buck If you want use me as a subject Im willing I was born in afternoon 3:15 P Texas Time 2-4-53 (just in case :-) )
I dont take it all serrious But do find it interesting!
I don't read them at all, mainly because a college of buddy of mine use to right them. As I mentioned before, I'm a journalist. My buddy is a journalist, and his first job out of college was writing these horoscopes for a syndicate firm which sent them to the newspapers who subscribed to their service. He told me he didn't base what he wrote on anything in particular, just how he felt that day and what people MIGHT believe.
So have fun with them, but take them with a grain of salt.
e_t : Its a very insightful post. I think it applies to everyone. I never thought of it that way you know.
Personally I am a believer. No not those daily astrology thing they publish on the net or in the mags though I read them all the same! Like nursecutie, I love the books about your personality, how your birth order shapes your life etc.
Actually I believe in numerology a lot. Some of the predictions have come true for me. Only time can tell about the others. At times they pressurize me too but I try not to think of the bad ones too much.
e_t , Of course it was a great one. One of the most insightful things I've come across. Thanks a lot for sharing and as I said it applies to everyone irrespective of the fact as whether or not you are a believer :)
