I'm not bashing, but I am turning the tables a bit. I am so sick of hearing and reading about Christian's and their hurt feelings!!! I'm sick of Morman's knocking on my door and self righteous hypocrite's peddling their propaganda outside the damn grocery store. FUCK THE WATCHTOWER!!! I have a very, very close and personal relationship with God and I am quite happy with my spiritual practices and their out come. I don't feel the need to go up to a perfect stranger and question their beliefs and try to sell them mine....like God is some kind of laundry detergent and my brand gets the stains out better.

I am Wiccan, have been for over 15years, it is what works for me, I don't need anyone else to believe what I believe to make me secure with my faith....so why do Christian's?

I usually don't get offended easily, but I have had enough of the double standard when it comes to religion. I'm tired of hate and ignorance being spread in the name of "God"....and I'm tired of religious drones pushing their opinions and beliefs in my face. And if you are a Christian and you feel need to speak your mind about your beliefs than you better be able to handle someone else's opinion when it differs from your own....another words, don't talk shit if you can't take it!!!

My intention with this blog is not to offend or piss anyone off, but my patience and tolerance for this behavior is at an all time low.

    You say it, Lovie!
Christians run around spewing their religion on everyone and everything and you just have to take it, but say ONE WORD that suggests you believe a different way and suddenly you have trouble to the Nth power!
They can shove THEIR faith in your face but if you simply say "I choose a different faith" they FREAK out!
You can't have a job in the same place as them! Oh no!
You can't live in the same place as them. Whatever would happen!?
Okay. I'm all better. Thank you.

BL...... Don't take this the wrong way, I'm just curious on two points; What is the Wiccan religion & how do you know you have a very, very close & personal relationship with God? I myself am a Baptist by choice but have very loose or practical ideas on the subject of Religion. Aren't the Mormons now called "Latter Day Saints"? I'm also curious as to why you don't include Islam, in your remarks?   BST

LadyG ~ I came into work yesterday and the "Christian brigade" had started with me bright and early, I had five...count them FIVE...."Jesus is the way" and blah, blah, blah emails waiting for me. Needless to say it set me off. If I would send them ANYTHING that had to do with Paganism, or witchcraft I would probably be fired. Well, I don't think they will be sending me anymore of these emails....this was not the only place I vented my frustrations.

SG ~ thanks for commenting ;-))

Hey Ed ~ it's good to be back, unfortunately my computer at home is still down so I can only be on here at work...and it has been horrible here lately....that's a whole other Blog to come.

BST ~ Wicca is more like an earth based religion, it is often refered to as "The Old Religion", "Paganism" or "Witchcraft"....it was around long before Christianity. For the second part of that question, how do you know God? My relationship with God is personal. I didn't mention Islam because I have never had any of them knock on my door or come up to me at the store selling their religion. Thanks for stopping by and commenting BST.

Biglove- I am sorry you have had bad experiences with other religions and I, myself am "Mormon/ LDS"  I know for myself that I am happy with my religion and so I understand about not wanting other people trying to convert you.   As far as Missionaries knocking on your door.  They are doing what they believe in and mean no harm. They have done this for years and will continue to do it.  I don't know who is sending you emails at work but I feel there are times when it is appropriate and times when it isn't.

My point exactly.  Jesus was fed up with religion and if you learn to see Jesus in a different light I believe you will find,  as I have,  that he was perhaps,  the orginal freedom from religion fighter. Religion produces a way of life that creates blind followers and all can see today where that blind following has led our country and our world.People kill their own families in the name of religion. They judge everyone and want them to be punished for their beliefs if they are different from their own. It is time to end this madness that creates and continues the wars in families and countries.  Peace and Knowledge to ALL

I have the same issue of religion being pushed my way. Partly because my children are pierced, promote gay rights, and dye their hair each week a different color of the rainbow. I understand why people assume that we lack religion but what I don't get is why they think we are wrong for choosing to follow our own beliefs. I do find comedy when they come to my door promoting their views and the oldest opens. They are truly shocked and sometimes they just walk away.

Mom~ I meant no offense, and not all of my religious experiences has been bad, but lately (for me anyway) there has been an increase in religious self righteousness around me and it has just grated on my last nerve. I don't feel it is right to go door to door or wait outside stores to convert people or "enlighten" them, but I understand that this is what these people believe they are being called to do. However, if I say I'm not interested then it should be dropped right then, I shouldn't be questioned or told that I am wrong and will burn in Hell....I don't even believe in Hell. I have lots of friends that are Christians, Jewish, I even have some Muslim friends and we all respect each other's differences. My frustrations are with those people that don't respect others. thanks mom for you comments ;-)

SG~ I thought you were Atheist and I use to be that way myself, actually, my sister is (more or less) an Atheist. I believe because I have no other choice, I have experienced things in my life that I can not explain logically, so I have to go with what I feel. There are times that in the back of my mind I wonder "am I hoping, wishing and wanting there to be something more, someone greater?" and then something happens I can't explain. It could be that I'm seeing what I want to see or maybe not, but this works for me so I go with it.

Shiningstar~ Welcome to my blog and thanks for your comments. I think people forget that Jesus was about unconditional love and tolerence, something we don't very often anymore from any group of people.

Hey my August girl~ I'm not labeling Christians, but you don't see Greek Orthodox, Pagans or Buddhist waiting outside the super market with flyers, or Jews posting open enrollment night. Big Love;  I was watching PBS Sunday morning and saw a man,  Michael Weinstein, both a Jew and a Christian,  telling the story of the religious right in our military. The lack of tolerence for people who do not believe as they do is unreal. One person,  already a Christian,  was given a dixie cup and a pair of tweezers and told to go into the bathroom and pick up public hairs until they believed in the rapture.  His book is "God Is With Us" and his site is www. militaryreligiousfreedom.com(I think).  What a shame to fight for religious freedom in Iraq yet deny it to our own people. Check it out and post your findings. Peace

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Horus

This Horus story has absolutely no similarity whatsoever to the Jesus narrative. Unless there's another more ancient narrative named Horus out there. More anti-Christian inanity put forth on Soulcast by people who know nothing of what they speak. A weak-minded attempt to justify their own disbelief.

I can see how the daily prosletyzing can get annoying, but to generalize to ALL CHRISTIANS is just plain ignorant. Not all Christians attempt to spread the Word this way. And just because you haven't come across other sects who express their faith publicly or conduct outreach doesn't mean they don't do it.

If you are secure in your faith (or lack thereof), you will not criticize, generalize, patronize or compartmentalize in some pathetic attempt to aggrandize your own beliefs.

As to legislation, etc: Christians are taxpayers too. Everyone deserves to have their political opinions heard and represented. Shall we abandon secular programs that benefit society on the basis that atheists support them? We have a system on which everyone can hang their laundry. It may cause some friction at times, but we'll no longer be a free country if Christians are shut out of the process on the basis of their religious views.

Funny how liberals, atheists and other such non-believers cry for tolerance only when it comes to protecting their own values.

Curmudgeon~ I am not talking about ALL Christians, and I thought anyone actually reading this blog would get that....but let me make it crystal clear....I AM NOT TALKING ABOUT ALL CHRISTIANS!! Now, if you happen to fit the description of the above mentioned, then I'm talking about you! I am secure in my faith and that is why I no longer hide in the "Wiccan closet". As far as legislation goes  and Christians political opinions being heard.....Hello, that is the main group of people that does get heard. It is only in the past few years the Paganism/Wicca has been recognized by the government as a religion. Also, this past year they finally decided to let veterns that were/are pagan/wiccan be buried in their cemetaries and with their religious symbols.

"We have a system on which everyone can hang their laundry. It may cause some friction at times, but we'll no longer be a free country if Christians are shut out of the process on the basis of their religious views."

Are you serious? No, it is not a system that everyone can hang their laundry on...and read up on some history, because "friction" is an understatement if I have ever heard one. When it comes to this government, Christians are not shut out of anything....they are running the show (in my opinion, which is what this blog is about).

Crazy Christians or not, God actually tolerates all sorts of religious beliefs (or lack thereof) that have been stated here. But that doesn't make them all correct. Some day we're going to find out what really is truth, and what higher power actually exists. The important thing is to not stop seeking knowledge about what that truth is.

Muckpar;  Just because the scripture is written in red and accredited to Jesus does not make it the truth.Go baptize Dahmer and preach the "truth" to him and see how much that changes him or anyone else.  It is consciousness that changes people.  You can give people seeds and they will eat them until you teach them how to plant them.  When people learn a new way they can do new things.  Until then they stay in the old. That's simply not true, shining. Jesus is the truth, and people have dismissed that for hundreds of years, only to their own detriment. You are right about teaching a person to plant seeds, but the message has to be the truth in order for those seeds to sprout, and I don't see your mixture of beliefs being fertile soil. I don't say that because I hate you or think you're dumb...I respect you and want to tell you how it really is with Jesus so that you DO plant good seeds.

L82 Raised in the Bible Belt do you not think that I have heard that ALL of my Life,  every where by everyone.  Do you think it is fun or easy going against all of your deeply inset beliefs of Jesus and waht he came to teach.  Jesus was murdered because  he refused to do the will of Jehovah.  He tried to show you a  better way but you still do not get.  He went against everything that the Hebrew people believed just as I go against everything Christians believe.  It is like being Gay.. No one makes a choice to be gay because it makes them so many friends and is so much fun being called names and laughed at.  But Jesus went through it because he knew the truth and was willing to die for it.  It is not about following some one else's truth.  It is not about believing Jesus came to save you from what you decided to do. You are in harmony with most of the religious world with your god of judgements and condemnations and that is a scary place to be my friend. Going with the crowd makes for warm feelings but the crowd is seldom correct.Peace

  • lidstrom82 said on Aug 27, 2007....
Shining, I'm upholding what Jesus said, and I'm encouraging you to do that, too. Being raised in the Bible Belt does not mean every Christian around you wasn't a hypocrite, or hurt you in some way. Jesus died only because He allowed it; He decided to die because it was the way mankind would be saved. He gave up His life for the will of God, and for no other reason. For us. If you assume the Bible gets Jesus wrong, where else do we have reliable information? We could make up all sorts of stuff if we don't take the Bible seriously, and that's the point: It just may be what it claims to be - the Word of God. If someone doesn't stand for that, they risk falling for anything.

But as this post points out, Christianity doesn't change lives by jamming papers in your face, badgering you at your front door, or threatening condemnation. It's sharing your faith with another person who quite possibly needs a loving God to heal them and to know personally. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is spread best when walking alongside someone, not talking their ear off. I don't consider Jehovah's Witnesses to be Christians because they make false claims from what the Bible says, nor do I consider Mormons Christians because they hold Joseph Smith as their ultimate authority - not Jesus Christ. I'm well aware of religion in the wrong hands.

But beyond human error all over the place, the Bible has endured, no matter how advanced we get as a people. Though people do evil things and claim the Bible as inspiration, the only evil came from their own hearts. That is what many can't accept - that deep down, we ARE selfish, and not as noble as humanism would have us believe. We're not always "generally good people," and we need something to fix us for when we make mistakes and hurt ourselves - and others. That is why Jesus died on the cross, that's why it applies to every person who has ever, and will ever, live. Don't throw out the baby with the bathwater, so to  speak - Jesus Christ is the only worthwhile, legitimate, life-changing person in the whole of what we consider "religion."
  • mom said on Aug 27, 2007....
lidstrom- I only want to clear up a misconception that you have about Mormons.  We do not hold Joseph Smith higher than Jesus, or God.

  • mom said on Aug 27, 2007....
Thank you.  I  believe in God, his son Jesus Christ and in the Holy Ghost.  I  believe that Christ came to this earth to die on the cross so that mankind may be saved.  Our basic principles are as most religions but our doctrines differ.

I  believe in the Bible but I also believe in  the Book of Mormon.  The bible is a record of the Holy Lands and the Book of Mormon is a record of the people on the American Continent.  In the bible it tells of the destruction of the Tower of Babel, God confounded the languages of the people and they scattered. so it is not so hard for me to believe that a record would be kept by those in different lands.  I believe that the Dead Sea Scrolls are also scripture and that there are probably many more holy records that have not been found yet.

I also believe that God loves all his children, no matter who they are and although he may not be pleased, he still loves each and everyone of us, if it were not true then I feel that Christ died in vain.  I also believe that there has only been one person who has ever been perfect on this earth.  I believe that we will be judged not just by our outer selves but by our inner selves also. I believe that Christ will be the only one that will judge us.

Thank you for your respect and consideration.

  • lidstrom82 said on Aug 27, 2007....
Thanks, mom! From your words there are a great deal of similarities in our beliefs, and focusing on those and not just on differences is very productive.

I think that where we differ is on the significance of the book of Mormon, and that's understandable. I read up on Joseph Smith and learned of his life, and personally chose not to adhere to it.

What do you think of Joseph Smith, mom? And what do you think of this upcoming movie called "September Dawn" which depicts Brigham Young as the initiator of a massacre in the 1800's? It looks pretty controversial.
  • mom said on Aug 27, 2007....
Lid- thank you.  I believe that Joseph Smith was a prophet.  I know that is a difficult concept for a lot of people and I also fell it is understandable.  The prophets were all killed off in the bible, but I feel that doesn't mean that we would never have a prophet again.  Accepting that anyone could possibly be in that position is strange to a lot of people and it isn't something that should be taken lightly or at face value.
People scoff at the scriptures or even the thought of there being a God.  They want to know how we know?  There is no proof, but I think that most people that believe have developed that testimony through prayer and study.  We just know.  Once you believe in something because the spirit has told you it is true, then how can you deny it?
I have not heard of the movie. My husband is a Baptist, and he gave me the book "The Godmakers".  I read it and they were the words of someone who was bitter.  Those will set out to discredit anyone and anything. When I gave him a book to read about my religion, he wouldn't do it.  He did not want to believe there was any good in it.  He wanted to live with the negative.  We have agreed to disagree.
  • lidstrom82 said on Aug 27, 2007....
I'm sorry that religious differences have caused a bit of division, mom, but I'm glad you both agreed to disagree. I know the Bible speaks out against those adding to it or twisting its meaning, and many in the Christian church consider mormonism to do both.

If - and only if - Jesus is savior over someone's life, and they believe that wholeheartedly to the point of spreading the Gospel and reading and living out the Bible, they are in very good standing. Putting anything else in front of Jesus, or adding anything to Him, regardless of religion, has historically been a bad idea.
  • mom said on Aug 27, 2007....
My husband and I have been married for almost 19 years. LOL  There have been times I have wanted to kill him, not because of his religious difference but because he is a man. LOL Sorry.
I respect your beliefs and I know of the scripture of adding to or taking from.  We did not rewrite the Bible, it is as it has always been, I have the KJV.  We do not replace the Bible with the Book of Mormon.  We all have to live with what we believe to be true. That is where our inner peace comes from.
I also feel that we are all in this thing called life and all suffer from  tragedy's and enjoy our triumphs and we all battle the same evils, the same Satan. We love the same God.  Although we might have some differences in how we think and feel, it is possible to find the good if we look.
I figure that someday there will be answers to everything and what is or what isn't truth will be revealed. In the meantime, I really want to try to be a good person so that when I die.  People will remember me fondly. I come here to SC to just have fun and laugh and to interact. Good moods keeps the demons away. Don't ya think?
