when i think of the word i imagine a person who wields great power to destroy but chooses not to use it. i practice it where i believe i can without creating a greater problem later.

Letting go of a little bit of myself, in order to accomodate the feelings of someone esle.  Knowing that I am most likely playing the role of the "meek shall inherit the earth." .  Selfish, is it not?  I can't spell martyr, but I sure know what it means.  (Is that right?)  But I do let the other guy win, sometimes, knowing that that they just think they did. Sort of like the game of "Uncle."  I often let people win games, or debates--but  I never lose the grip on my intentions or beliefs.

LG- I've always thought of mercy as having compassion in times where other avenues could be taken or authorized. I've rarely used mercy because of not having, or wanting, positions of power over people. I've used mercy with animals.

Like beyond I think it's having compassion and making one choice in favour of another which could be applied.

Mercy, to me, is compassion shown by someone who has power over another. I don't hold myself as having the right to be merciful, as it would imply a level of power over someone else that makes me downright uncomfortable to contemplate. I think I know myself well enough to say that I am compassionate and if I did have the ability/opportunity to do so, I would be merciful to others.

I think "Mercy " is a power we cannot see...I think it is a stong interactive feeling that is not know when it is recived or given... an energy .... I think when it is recieved or given....it creates an unfamiluar calming  peacefulness at that instant

i have a problem with the concept of mercy because it implies its opposite as a possibility, whether that opposite is cruelty or apathy.

to me, it just seems that you should be kind to others.  mercy implies a power relationship, and that isn't the best kind of relationship.

reading harmony's comment above, mercy seems like a very helpful thing if it is coming from a greater power rather than another person.  like when you're in pain, and you pray to be relieved of that pain, and something, you don't know who or what, may actually take the pain away.  been there.

i wish my head didn't spin around with all kinds of hurtful ideas and pointless thoughts..
i'd much rather let everything just wash around me.... a rock in the middle of the stream.

i finally pushed at it until it broke.

and found some secrets....
i've been needy and clingy and txting him a LOT.

he hasn't said anything and hasn't complained.
but at the same time i think i can tell that even though he's not exasperated with me YET..... he doesn't miss me like i miss him. he doesn'...
i'm not sure if i'm just gonna end up breaking my own heart or what.

i just wish i didn't NEED this so much....
