I know that this is a taboo in a supposedly anonymous blogging community. But I just can't help telling the world that the Philippines has won the WORLD BOXING CUP! There goes my nationality. :D

The Philippines took the cup from Mexico by winning 5 out of 6 boxing matches.

I didn't see the live feed of the bouts the Philippines won because I woke up late as I was still reading blogs at 2:47am hours ago. (See my previous post) What I saw was the last bout between Rey "Boom Boom" Bautista and Daniel Ponce De Leon where the Pinoy boxer was annihilated in round 1. It was heart wrenching to see Rey fall down so fast--two TKO's in ONE round! :-(

But when I found out that he was just  21 years old, I saw the brighter side of things. He's still so young and his opponent was 6 years older and more seasoned than him. He'll have time to mend his career dent and I believe he will have another chance to prove himself in the future.

And when I found out that all the other bouts in the six-man match-up was won by Pinoys (a slang for Filipino), I rejoiced! My upturned smile turned into a wide grin! :D Congratulations to the Philippine team! I'll definitely watch the replay later this evening. :D (I hope I get insomnia again! haha!)

We'll see about that moonriver. Every nation has things and people to be proud of. I've got Manny "Pacman" Paquiao and six other boxers to be proud of in the world of boxing and I have many other things that I can write about--as soon as I learn how to add photos to my posts! :-)

It would be more interesting to have photos like you had with your most recent post about decapitating royalty. I can't promise but I'll do my best to share what makes me proud as a Filipino.

Yes I agree GreenTaz, BoomBoom Bautista is still young.
I only wish he learned his lessons well from his recent defeat at the hands of Ponce de Leon.

Failure can be a powerful teacher.
