the air conditioner unit requires replacing. it's hot, it's humid and there's no breeze to speak of.

since these conditions don't make for a very friendly ed, you won't see me around much during the day, during which at some point the unit will be replaced (hopefully, really soon!).

but i did want to leave you with a poll...

what weather conditions make you particularly unhappy? heat? cold? dry? humid?

Oh my God, my sympathies! I cannot stand being hot, particularly coupled with humid weather (which summer always has aplenty here). We went to IHOP for supper last night (the car's AC is a real joke, so we had the windows down) and as we passed one of those bank clock marquee-type things, I was not surprised to see it flash "102" at 6pm. Ughhh. Cold/wet weather doesn't bother me a bit.

I hope your AC unit is replaced ASAP today - ack!

This one is a no brainer for me.  I like those kinds of questions.  No overtaxing the ole noggin.

Were I the weather master I would eliminate the period between Memorial Day and Labour day.  If I couldn't eliminate that stretch of time, I would at least turn the thermostat down to about 70 celsius and turn the dehumidifier to 'extra dry'

That about sums it of I think!

    i hate the heat.

i wonder if you live here in the philippines? can you survive the heat? =)

heat and humidity make me cranky as well, silver. i don't mind the heat, but when it is coupled with humidity and it's just sticky weather, i can't stand it.

do you guys have a pool at your apartment complex? maybe that would help.
  • CreativeWoman said on Aug 07, 2007....
Humidity is not my friend.  I feel sluggish.  I think I hate the cold worse though.  I hate when I get so cold that it takes forever to warm back up.

The heat and humidity gets me down always. It never fails to spoil my mood and I just hate going out when it is blazing hot.

I even have a tendency to get a sun's stroke or a headache. Hope your a.c gets replaced or repaired real soon.

ED, maybe grey, cold , blowing rainy weather and extreme cold I don't like it. Blowing wind with snow. I don't think I'd like the weather you mentioned either. I must be able to breath.

I hate bone chilling cold.  (or wet cold)  I can find ways to deal with heat, both dry and humid, but cold is "forever" in my bones.

I hate heat and humidity, i don't like wet and cold much, but i prefer it to hot and humid. I love fresh and sunny spring and autumn days, those are the best times of the year.
  • Suddenrain said on Aug 07, 2007....
Fall is my favorite time of year. Perfect weather for me. I cannot deal with humidity. I do have a pool and it cools you down when actually in the pool, but the minute you step out it's right back into humidity. My air conditioning is on 24/7. I have even been known to have it on in the winter sometimes.

Ed, I'm from the South, near the Gulf of Mexico, so I know EXACTLY what that heat+humidity feels like. My absolute least favorite as well.

I'm now in Sunny southern California where I have lived in the sweltering heat of the desert, as well as LA where the temperatures are a bit more manageable, but never did I have a problem with the extreme temps unless paired with humidity!

Where do you live that you have such heat and oppressive humidity?

I'd much rather deal with the heat and humidity than the cold.

Ed.......when i moved here in Dallas i thought i would have a climate similar to New Mexico, Arzizona...dry and hot. I can stand hot if i have to. When its dry heat.

But it turned out that Dallas, even if it is 6 hours driving from a shred of beach, is indeed sorrounded by a multitude of lakes, small and big, and ponds. It can be humid as a Mississippi swamp here at times.

So i think i answered your question. Humidity just takes the life out of me. I feel dump, oily, sticky, my hair are shapeless. grumpy and with no energy.

Years ago our air conditioning broke in the middle of July. 102 degrees outside. Humid. For 3 days we have to bear that hell.....i was running earlier out of the house in the morning just to get to office as soon as possible. We used to watch tv with our feet in a big bow full of ice to feelsome cool. It has been miserable. I am so sorry for you guys.

Go to the mall, to the movie, stay at home as less as possible. Can you go sleping at some friend's home? What about staying in a hotel? The cheapest one would be better than a home without A/C....

    Ummmm........well, i like hot, snowy, rainy, and windy...oh, I don't like tornadoes.....too much wind....lol

SW: eek! i can't live w/o my air conditioner, i am such a baby! I like it cooler like in the 60-70 range. Humid weather makes this girl sick, and crabby lol

infernal: happily, it was, thank you--other stuff cropped up, though, which precluded my being here for the rest of the day.

namechanged: welcome to my blog and thank you for visiting! er...70 celsius? you do like it warm, huh?

queen: i would survive it by becoming a serious, serious asshole. :>

super z: yes, there is indeed pool-ness, but i was far too exasparated to avail myself of it. when the new AC was installed however i'll confess to basking in its wonderful power for a while. :D plus, i'll confess that i'm not much of one for pools anyway.

CW: humidity makes me fantastically ill-tempered, i find. but yeah, when you get a chill in your bones that no blankets, hot cocoa or standing next to a fire can shake--yuck!

desertmermaid: it was replaced not too late in the day, happily. and yeah, it just makes me wanna lie there and exert as little energy as possible.

MI: yeah, me too. when growing up, my siblings refused to talk w/ me when it was like that! :>

skald: ah, i know the kind of weather you mean and those are tough--i always feel a bit empty inside on days like that.

u-i: i know what you mean about cold, sorta--it takes a lot for me to feel the cold sometimes.

imladris: i see we're of like minds on this. :>

suddenrain: i sympathize: my apartment building is so warm that i can count on one hand the number of times we've put the heater on. :>

PT: gah, you know it better than i do!

eilan: i dunno, i take a weird kinda pleasure in bundling up. is that strange?

GS: it was resolved during the day, happily. had it been ongoing, i would almost certainly have packed us into a car and visited my parents--they live in the same state and the car's AC seems to work OK. :D btw: your note about watching TV w/ your feet in a bowl of ice reminds me of something. during a vacation some years ago, we'd been walking around in DC (or was it new orleans? i don't recall) and it was hot & humid. we got back to the hotel room and collapsed on the bed. i think we walked in a puddle of something questionable so i finally got myself into the bathroom and put on the tub to wash my feet when i had a brainstorm and put on the cold only. i called to my wife to join me and we sat like that on the edge of the tub for a while, just soaking our tired, hot feet. it's a great trick! :>

chubbins: welcome to my blog and thank you for visiting! heh...i don't think many people like tornadoes. :>

b&u: it makes me crabby, too! :D

Do I have my scales mived up again?   Somewhere in the back of my feeble mind i though it was farenheit that was renamed to celsios some years ago.  Usually I would have simply said 70 degrees and left it at that.  Once again I trried to sound somewhat intelegent and once again I failed.  :-(

namechanged: well, your science classes ought to have told you the two are quite different indeed, i would think, but it's an honest mistake. :>

chubbins: why is it that tornado footage always includes trailer parks? it does make one feel bad for folks living in one...
