The page you were looking for no longer exists

it's interesting: most blogging sites i've seen don't offer the kind of ability to build community the way soulcast does. by tracking your comments on the my conversations tab, the blogging process become more analogous to posting in a discussion forum. heck, all that's really missing is a messaging service and the ability to upload avatars. and it's this that i think is behind the sense of community that's coalesced in the time i've been posting here. most times when i check in, i start at the main page (soulcast.com) and look at the featured posts. when i'm done there, i check in on my conversations. after that, i look at my own blog, see what other comments have come in. if i have the time after that, i look at the most recent comments (main page, select most recent) and then the people to whom i subscribe or subscribe to me. if this service does well, that's quickly going to become unsustainable, but for the time being, it's a lot of fun. :> how do you go about it when you get to soulcast? ed

It takes me a while... First I glance down the featured today sheet. (I don’t really understand the algorithm that decides what is chosen and have found that a lot of interesting posts are being passed up) Then I open my blog and start down the list of people I am reading, my friends. (I don’t always make it thru in one sitting) Then before I pass out I open the recent and look for new people who I welcome and subscribe to immediately. (Because it really made me feel good the first time any one subscribed to me, it made me feel welcome) Somewhere along the way I end up looking at my last 4 or 5 blogs but I really get a kick out of the Side Conversations that occur over multiple blogs. Then I pass out.

I don't have a specific pattern I follow. Sometimes I start with the main page (soulcast.com) and see what catches my interests on that first page of featured posts. Although sometimes I immediately scroll to the bottom and hit next page to see if anything interesting hasn't made it to the front page of the featured pages. Sometimes I start the day with My Conversations. And sometimes, well sometimes, I don't know what I do when I dive into Soulcast. :) Hmmm...looking at my little description, it's odd that someone who is such an organization freak like I am doesn't have a clear pattern for how she meanders through Soulcast. (But then looking at the current state of my home office desk, I am beginning to think that I have let the organization impulse slide; but hey it's summer, right?)

Same here. I'll check what's featured. Then, I'll see if anyone has replied to my blogs. Sometimes, I may reply back. Then I'll check My Conversations. When I get bored, I'll start selecting by tags (depending on what my interest at the time might be)--or sometimes I just check out the blogs with the most views, or go by usernames, etc.

It's hard to get the swing of things here. I'm starting to...not really. Still confused as heck as to why my 0/5 blogs left is happening. It feels like going to a new school and trying to make friends and realizing that you're part of both the cliquey crowd and the geeky crowd that makes baking soda bombs.

Reading pattern? Do not ask me. I went insane a couple of days ago. I have started letting Casper, my android brother, do it. He is really fast. He is the one that makes all the stupid comments. I make all the intelligent ones when I get on.

As you guys pointed out before, SoulCast bot is automatedly sending out email notifications of blogs which you participated and are automatically subscribed to. I've just deleted about 50 or so before I linked to SoulCast. This email notification has a discouraging effect in that you'd probably want to think twice in participating in a blog that is very popular and gets so many hits. With everyone participating in the discussion, an email is being sent to you, so the net effect would be, maybe I'd better not participate in this issue to avoid the influx of email response. Somebody has got to tell SoulCast help to disable this feature. FYI, I tried checking out blog sites even posting some of my blogs but I don't get the same reaction as what I've been getting from our website here. It really is the community and our interactive participation that makes us stand out to be different than the others.

I'm thankful for all my SC friends. :-) So to pay tribute I will make the turkery, stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy. You can bring a side dish or dessert.

All are welcome.

What will you bring?
