Religion has taught the people to always follow instead of developing their power within. Jesus did not come to keep the same old power structure that kept the people worshipping everything out side of them selves. His parables are ripe with reflection about this power and how to develop the perception of being a god not a blind sheep.  Through purposeful misinterpedation the religion have led the people into the world situation that all are in today.  The leaders that all have been taught to believe in and trust are falling away as we see that those we trusted betrayed us in both government and religion.  Yet the truth of Jesus still awaits those who are ever so tired of wainting on someone else to do it for them. Just as the disciples never got the teachings so have many missed them having been led into a far different direction.  The religious leaders of today have not yet discovered that what they have taught and believe in does not even exist.  It is just fabrication of those who lived before them and created it to gain power over their brothers and sisters.  One day they will understand and they will rise up and denounce these horrible teachings and begin to know,  understand and teach what Jesus did come to teach and Jesus will not have given his life in vain.  The words are in the Bible but one must change their perception so that the real perception and truth will reveal it's self to them.

Wow.  (2Peter 1:3-11) talks about Making One's Calling and Election Sure, "His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.  Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires......"  (vs.3-4)

(2Peter 1:12-21) talks about Prophecy of Scripture, "....We did not follow cleverly invented stories when we told you about the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty......And we have the word of the prophets made more certain, and you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a light shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts.  Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet's own interpretation.  For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit. (vs.16,19-21)

(2Peter 2) talks about False Teachers and Their Destruction, I could not pick out a few versus, one must take time and read it.  :-)

(2Peter 3) talks about The Day of the Lord, "First of all, you must understand that in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires......But do not forget this one thing, dear friends:  With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day.  The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness.  He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentence..... (vs3, 8 & 9)

Of course each chapter has more to say than what I highlighted and as I read each one I was encouraged, I hope it can encourage others as well.

Be Blessed and Have a Great Day!!!  :-)

The world has always been a mess of deceit and corruption and will use weak followers and churches to their own ends.  Politics has no business mixing with religion any more than religion should be mixing with politics.  One must forget the problems of the world and concentrate on cleansing himself.

All cherished institutions are imagination, mind-fluff.  But they are brutally enforced, and it's a waste of time and effort to oppose them.  The world considers people mere vassals of utility, and will find clever ways to suck you into its system.  The one thing you can change is yourself.  This can also prove to be very difficult, but with prayer and trust in God, the way will be found.

Trust in the God that is within you,  just as Jesus taught is the way to claim your own birthright,  your own heritage.  Jesus was/is no different than we are.  He just had the knowledge that we lack.  That is why he tried to teach us to not follow the religious teachers but to take our power back and live free of their teachings.
  • shiningstar said on Aug 07, 2007....
Jesus could easily have said to the people that he was the son of Jehovah and to bow down to him as they had been taught to do by the priests.  But he did not.  Just these two sentences would have created clarity but he did not do so because it would not have been true. He focused on the power within and said that all could do as he did but they had to change their beliefs and take their rightful place as one that could do the greater things than he did.Jesus brought love into the world to replace the fear that Jehovah had created. He proved that which Jehovah taught was not correct when he returned after his death.  Jehovah had always taught the people that there was no life after death.Jesus gave parables so that each person could use their own knowledge to discover a truth that would be particular to them. Each will find their own according to their beliefs.  It is all personal and "as ye believe".
  • shiningstar said on Aug 07, 2007....
Why is it people dodge the power to create?  Jesus said it is "as ye believe".  Does that not mean that what we believe creates our experiences? The Secret,  Religious Science, Science of Mind are all places that teach the power of the beliefs of each self.  These teachings have been documented from the ages. But the religious people and often those in the most horrible of circumstances are the ones who deny their own power the most.  It is like they refuse to accept this great responsibility that is also their freedom out of their direful situations. It seems it is more acceptable to most to remain in misery,  depression,  poverty and confusion than to even remotely consider that a loving creater might have endowed them with the power to create their own reality.  Better to depend on the religions to save them with a promise of something called heaven than to live a grander life on earth in this moment and contribute something wonderful to the world by freeing their ownselves from beliefs of those they cannot see or meet with in this life.

I think most of the false teachers referred to in the Bible do so unknowingly, but that makes them no less responsible. Jesus said the greatest commandment was to "love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind." He then said the next greatest commandment is to love one another as yourselves, forgiving them, just as Christ forgave us.

Most of what I've heard shining say is "the power within," or developing the perception of being a god yourself. This is directly in conflict with the Greatest Commandment. I find it deplorable that you speak so much about Jesus without realizing that what you say is in direct contrast to what Jesus actually said. Worship one God, the Father. If you want to expose lies, consider what you've just said. If a person believes godlike power resides within them, how else do you think we start thinking of ourselves as better than others, holding ourselves higher than others? Having "secret knowledge" is one way to think oneself better than another, and that is what you're teaching, shining.

Spreading lies about Jesus Christ is a poor way to say anything of Him, even worse than not believing in Him at all.
  • shiningstar said on Aug 08, 2007....
I respect your views and once I would probably have said the same thing but I learned that what I thought Jesus said, like you, was only what religion said that he said. Jesus never stepped out of love.Jehovah,  the one you call god never did anything out of love. Jesus taught the people that all is "as ye believe".  Is that not saying that the power is within each person?  He said that we could do greater things than he did.  Does that sound like he thought that we were less than him? What I discovered was what Jesus said and that is what I share. It took me years to learn it and another few to put it into words that others might understand.  While I realize that I might not be doing such a hot job please understand that without the equal time spent in the foundation of what I learned it is difficult to start in the middle and just address quotes that religion has laid on Jesus.Peace
  • lidstrom82 said on Aug 09, 2007....
Ok, let's meet in the middle. What is your view on the Bible, for starters? The current beliefs I'm hearing you share is that Jesus was a great spiritual teacher whose life and sayings were amplified, changed, or fabricated by the Christian religion. What I think I'm also hearing is that Jehovah, as you've referred to God, never did anything out of love.

My question is, what is it about the Bible that makes it untrustworthy in your eyes? For every point you make, I can come up with a verse that directly refutes that, but if you don't ascribe to the Bible, it's not going to carry much weight with you, so that's why I'm asking about your view on the Bible.

To me, I know the difference between personal opinion fueled by religion and pride, and what is said in the Bible. I don't buy that I'm only saying what I'm taught. If that's such a bad thing, maybe we should discount everything we learned in school, because that came from people who had their own agenda.

To me, why would God send His Son to sacrifice Himself on the Cross, for our sins, if He wasn't a God of love? Yes, God wrought destruction upon wicked people, but He promised nothing like the Flood would happen again, and He is only harsh against the people who ARE wicked. It's a good thing to have a powerful God that has defended you by removing your enemies, and I think it's futile to complain about his bullying when really, it was done to preserve God's people, namely us.

Jesus did say that those with faith in God would do greater things than He. Not to elevate ourselves, however. All the power that Jesus had came from God the Father. If God's power was what fueled Jesus' entire ministry, then not only is God a loving God, but Jesus, as His Son, is the true source of salvation and power - not a nebulous power within us. It is easier for someone to ask Jesus to fix their lives, than to seek inner truth and power, because we ask for help when we're bankrupt inside. God answers our prayers, He sent Jesus to make everyone right with God and wipe the slate clean, and He offers that salvation freely to those who believe in Jesus. The Bible says as much, and it is in direct conflict with most of what you're saying, shining, so that leads me to ask where your truth comes from, if not the Bible.

Please continue with your chosen beliefs and see how much that improves your life.  Better to learn self and understand self than to focus on another life that is not your own.  If you cannot know self , the one who's skin you stand in,  how can you ever know another self who is outside of you?People constantly say that they do not understand things yet when it comes to following what the religious experts have taught them they can quote only chapter and verse with no idea of what Jesus came to teach.  Only you can teach you. Life is personal.  Jesus taught the power is "as ye believe'.  As long as people BELIEVE that they are helpless sinners who can free them from their beliefs and the living of them?  Even Jesus cannot perform such a miracle.  Love and Peace.

Oh shining...the power of self is a lie. It can be no stronger than the religious teachings you point out that were created by man. I agree on that end, but I say that Jesus Christ is the savior of the world, sent by a loving God. That is what the Bible says. I'll stick to that. It's impossible to follow an inner power without becoming self absorbed, unless it is the Holy Spirit. I've seen it happen. I've lived my life and seen that God has improved my life and the lives of other substantially more than any New Age teaching or personal religion someone created. You are shooting yourself in the foot, my friend.

I know what i ment, by the statment, other may not preceive this as i do, yes it is best to teach a man to fish rather than to feed him fishs for a day, therefore, still remaind, the methods of teaching.  The bible is written in parables, jesus taught in parables, which is, "truth and moral lessons", your perceptions of what "truth and mora lessons" may not be mind, therefore, we as individuals must defind our own perceptions of what we want to preceive as a realistic belief in term of "truth and moral lessons".

I am giving my personal perception based on years of study not from following what religion teaches.  It is my post that is why I post what I have found.  Jesus came to teach that people can do greater things than he did.  Can anyone even remotely envision what that might be?  IF we can have the knowledge and be taught to do what he did then we can feed ourselves,  take care of our wants,  needs and desires without destroying the planet or working for those who do so.  What great gift can be given than to teach a man to fish?  Instead religion teaches the same old tired teaching of jehovah to just FOLLOW me.  A person who follows only learns how to follow.  A person who leads is what Jesus was,  lived and taught.Peace.

I think anyone who follows shining's words will be worse off in their life. You can't bash God and sweet-talk about Jesus in the same breath without missing the entire point. Shining, I think the evil you see in the world did not come from God, but it came from us. I think that's the vital difference in our views. You don't ascribe to a loving Creator. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. Wisdom that is closer to the source than what you've learned. Somehow you've been poisoned toward God, and that's a pretty dangerous thing, for your sake.
  • shiningstar said on Aug 20, 2007....
As usual 82 you put words in my mouth without pondering anything said in my posts so dedicated are you to just posting what you believe.I am not "bashing" god'. God made both Jesus and Jehovah and I have never said that I see something called "evil"  any where. There is a loving creator from which all things are made but it is not Jehovah.  Jehovah has been allowed just as Jesus and you and I are allowed. Love and fear do not mix and fear never brings wisdom. Try having someone putting a gun to your head and see how much "wisdom"  you feel. Your beliefs are what has the world in the situation it is in. After 2,000 yrs of these false teachings we are just now beginning to see what a world we have created by following the old war god Jehovah instead of learning what Jesus came to teach us so we could truly be free.

SS, you stated that "the words are in the bible that one must change there perception so that the real perception and truth would reveal it's self to them" when i read words from the bible i preceive and beleive the writing to be the truth, it is reveal in my life by me discipling my self to employ the written words the "bible", which leave no room for but, only when my pereption of what i have accepted as truth, when i reveal it to other, then this discuss began. In a discuss of this sort, no two individual are ever going to think alike but we can learn other opinions for the sake of choices, because exposure is the keys to recoupment, meaning adding to what you have already learn.
  • shiningstar said on Aug 21, 2007....
southerngirl;  you are so correct.  No two people ever see anything the same and that is indeed the blessing of individuality. How wonderful to know that one can just express their beliefs and do not have to make anyone believe them.  Just the joy of sharing. When I say "change the perception" I am always referring to changing the way the Bible stories are read and have been taught to the world.Whereas Moses has long been a hero from the perception of religion if read differently he is a traitor to his people.I don't know about you,  my friend,  but if someone promises to free me from slavery and will take me to a land of milk and honey,  I don't expect to wind up doing endless circles,  starving to death and watching my family die, being intimidated and scared to death all the while being told it's me that wrong,  all in the hot,  blowing sand of a desert.
  • lidstrom82 said on Aug 21, 2007....
Well shining, if it seems I put words in your mouth, I do apologize. One distinction that you have not made in your words is that do you, Jehovah is different from God in some way, whereas to me, Jehovah IS God. That's where we got crossed up - you badmouth Jehovah, I think you're bashing God. So even though you were less than polite about it, there's the miscommunication for ya. From now on, I'll do my best to respect you as a person, though I do firmly believe that your views will not benefit you as much as the Bible will.

  • shiningstar said on Aug 22, 2007....
SG that is a religious teaching that you are quoting.  The will of god is the will of god that is within you as it is within all people. Parents usually want their children to grow up to be strong and self sufficienct.  In order to do that a child has to have the experiences to learn from. Achild must be free to explore self and the beliefs given to it in order to be strong in their own beliefs.Fruit, indeed,  does not fall far from the tree it comes from which means it will resemble it's parent,  just as Jesus said.  But Jesus does not resemble Jehovah and you must separate the two until you begin to see the truth of what Jesus taught instead of Jehovah. You are alive so you have grace.  It has nothing to do with Jesus.  Again,  that is what religion has taught you.Peace

82;There is a god called Divine Intelligence that created everything from it's own being.  There is nothing outside of god because all is god.  That is what Omnipresence means. All of us (the gods) were created at the same time when God comptemplated its self and imploded(big bang). All did not incarnate in physical bodies and come to earth or any other planet. The angels have not nor has Jehovah. Jehovah has warred with all who try and help the people of earth in order to protect his power but that will end. He did not leave voluntarily. He seeks only slaves to do his bidding and as he says is a "jealous" god.As we see laws stack up upon laws and security tighten we can begin to see the ending of anykind of freedom for the people of the world.  That has always been the desire of relgions, to have total control of the people. The "power over others" syndrome is the gift of Jehovah.  Jesus,  like all of the Masters,  bring the gift of love. There are and have been many Masters.  They are enlightened people who know who they are,  where they came from and what their purpose is in being here. They are from every race,  creed ,gender, culture, country and nation. They come to assist you in knowing who you are.  Peace.

Shining, thank you for explaining your beliefs in clear and concise detail. I respect anyone who searches for truth and looks for knowledge that explains the human condition, not merely the physical world or its laws. The reason I disagree is because I see a mixture of different beliefs forming what you explained. Some Christianity, some secular science, some New Age beliefs, humanism, Judaism, perhaps Buddhism, etc. People have taken great care to preserve the Bible, and I will continue to follow something that has been aiding mankind for centuries. It serves as an anchor for popular beliefs of the day - and Solomon proclaimed in Ecclesiastes that there is nothing new under the sun. Old ideas, when given enough time, appear revolutionary. The Da Vinci Code was based upon older books that asserted Jesus married Mary Magdalene and had a kid or two. SGenius continues to assert that Jesus is a story copied from Horus, the Egyptian falcon god, although that idea was originated by three men in the mid 1800's when they mistranslated Egyptian writings and based their evidence on faulty knowledge. The idea of humans being gods in themselves is as old as Adam and Eve, where the serpent told them that from eating the fruit, they would surely not die, but be like God, knowing good and evil." I believe we get power from God, but being gods ourselves appeals too much to our sinful pride to be very effective, in most cases. People could claim authority in all sorts of things they really don't have, and for many, it's creating your own reality at the cost of what actually is real. If there is a benevolent, loving being that creates all and is present everywhere, I will seek that being and ask for power to heal myself and to heal others. That's why I follow God.
  • shiningstar said on Aug 27, 2007....

ok shining, here's another question: if the Bible isn't reliable by way of Jehovah's malevolent teachings, where do we derive truth from?
  • shiningstar said on Aug 28, 2007....
Does someone have to teach truth?Every moment of everyday is a blessing to us because we have life.  What we create everyday in our lives is truth.  The way we live is truth.  It is when our truth gets out of harmony with life that we bring hardship to our own selves. We step out of harmony when we look outside of ourselves for anothers truth.  It is within us,  the God Within Us, that guides us and teaches us and everyone is different. That too is a blessing because it is our individuality that gives life it's flavor.  Jesus said salt that brings flavor meaning individuality.  When we load ourselves up with laws imposed on us by another we lose our freedom to express.  When we lose that we go into suppression and oppression which leads to abuses off self and other selves.  That is where we are at today.YOU know what is correct or incorrect for YOU and you alone. You are born with the ability to know your own truth and no one need teach it to you.We are all part and parcel of the one God who made all of the gods and it's wisdom is within all of it's creations.
  • lidstrom82 said on Aug 28, 2007....
Here's the problem with inner truth based on individuality: everyone makes their own truth, and what applies to one person may not apply to another. That is called moral relativism, and it does not help to have multiple belief systems determining reality. God set down the Ten Commandments, and the whole of the law in the Old Testament, as a guideline for how we live. It became pretty obvious that mankind can't follow that law without messing up at some point. That's why Jesus came to redeem the world.

Jesus called His followers to be the salt of the Earth, but what good is salt if it loses its saltiness? It is worthless dust. He was calling people to be set apart from the false religions and judgmental teachings of the Pharisees and the lawless circles; He called people to stand in the gap for the purpose of honoring God. He was not saying, "Be your own person and listen to your own inner truth," because we create our own reality. We are made to be subject to one standard of morality for all time, and that is God. If we follow multiple sources of truth, or create our own, we can justify even the worst acts. Shining, someone can live by their own morality and commit depravities upon the general populace just as easily as another can "credit" the Bible, Koran, or other holy texts for the same crimes.

If we adhere to laws, we are limiting ourselves in a way. But God's law limits us in ways we would hurt ourselves otherwise. He forbid adultery; we see the consequences of broken marriages every day in Soulcast posts. He instructed the Israelites to quarantine those with major illnesses from the rest of the population to establish ground rules for sanitation, rules hospitals now operate by. He warned against homosexual union, which causes so much stress and controversy for those who practice it, I wonder if it's worth it for them when all is said and done. The examples are nearly endless. We should not fear laws that limit us, if the only things we miss out on are sin, rebellion, pain, confusion, and emptiness.
  • shiningstar said on Sep 01, 2007....
When Jesus said the salt had lost it's flavor he was speaking to the fact that all follow religion and quote what they say and do as theysay and believe as they teach them to believe.  Salt does add flavor and individuality is the flavor that Jesus spoke of and it is lost when religion takes over a person.  Every thing is built on individuality.  No two people are alike(have you heard that one?)  No two snowflakes are alike(have you heard of that one?) Creation is about individualities not about groups that are all alike.  This is where religion breaks away from  natural life and imposes a group consciousness on the believers and denies them the opportunity to express their oneness.  There is no place found anywhere in a natural setting among natural creatures such a loss of individuality as found among humans that constitute the religious believers. God allows. God never forbids.  That is the world of Jehovah not Divine Intelligence.  Peace.
  • lidstrom82 said on Sep 04, 2007....
I agree that some religion does stress a loss of individuality to some degree, but it is not the whole of Christianity.
  • shiningstar said on Sep 07, 2007....
It is a complete loss if individuality if one lives their lives from a book that they didn't even write!  One bows to the book as if it had the secret of life within it when life has to be lived.  There are different answers for everyone in natural life and different circumstances.  A "one size fits all"  teaching and attitude is what  keeps the people at war.Peace
  • lidstrom82 said on Sep 10, 2007....
No, it's what individuals do with their own free will that causes war. Alexander the Great, Attila the Hun, Caligula, Vlad the Impaler, Adolf Hitler, or Saddam Hussein, anyone?

Besides, it is better to be a servant of Christ than it is to be a slave to sin, and every single person in this world is either one or the other. The Bible is very clear in that distinction, and some nonchristians bristle at that suggestion - but many of them don't know enough about the Bible or the God who gave it to us to really count it out.

Remember, believing a lie robs one of individuality more so than the truth.

You list  6 entities my friend.  Please tell us what any of these did that was different than what Jehovah,  who you follow as God,  did????? There is no honor in being a servant.  Is it not better to be the Master and serve no one??You divide the world into servant or slave with no regard for anything else.  What a tragedy.  You look at all,  it appears ,  with a tainted eye if they are not like your own self and believe as you do.  Is that what you think Jesus did?Peace
  • lidstrom82 said on Sep 11, 2007....
This is what Jesus said (Matthew 20:27-28:): "And whoever desires to be first among you, let him be your slave - just as the Son of Man (Jesus) did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many." So, yes, Jesus Himself said there was honor in being a servant - that was His whole point in coming here, and living life like a human being, and living the Word of God to the letter, and choosing to give up His life to serve all mankind as a Savior, to erase our sins. Jesus also said this to His disciples (Matthew 23: 10-11): "And do not be called teachers; for One is your Teacher, the Christ. But he who is greatest among you shall be your servant." So yes, it is better to call Jesus the one and only Teacher, Savior, Master, than it is to pretend we are our own masters. It is better to serve Jesus than to serve yourself.

Still living your life by some one else's book,  my friend?  The verses you give have the imprint of religon on them because only religious foundations want to keep the people ignorant of the fact that the power is within them just as it is within the lowly mustard seed.  If you can deceive the people and keep them on their knees worshipping YOUR POWER they will never look for and find their own.  They will be owned by those who want the power to keep them on riches. They will become helpless entities who are easily led and easily deceived because they have failed to know self.Peace

Question: If God gives us the body we live in and the air we breathe, and the very life we have each and every day, what power do we have that does not come from God?

Living by the Bible gives us a firm foundation, much firmer than inner power and personal truth. Shining, someone can correctly apply all you teach and cause themselves and others a great deal of damage by taking credit for power or ability they only have because God gave it to them.

On the flipside, you'd have to violate the Bible to do evil - at some point, a Christian would have to pervert, distort, or disregard some of Scripture to sin.

But you could follow your own message and use it for ill without contradicting any of the points of your "faith." And that is dangerous. If someone's inner truth is to uplift themselves, they can do much harm, because they have nothing and no one to answer to who believes the same they do. Christianity does.

The Bible is for every person for every generation for all of time. Your beliefs are a mishmash of philosophies and religions so varied that no one - and not yourself - has defined the name of those beliefs. In the scope of history, it's a foundation of sand, and every few centuries it becomes popular again and built up. You can save yourself a great deal of pain and confusion by taking the Bible seriously. If that is limiting you too much, suit yourself. You can always give yourself enough rope to hang yourself with, and I don't want that to happen for you. If there is inner power within you, you lose it as health declines, as life fades, and that's not exactly worthy of worship at all.

Inner power never declines or fades.Your God is the outside God.  Mine is the Divine Intellegence that made it all by becoming it all. Only if it lost power could any living creature lose power. The power is never outside for it is both the inside and outside as One Power that is the ALL IN ALL and it loves it's own self and would never judge it's own self or seek to condemn or punish it.  That is why these things do now exist except in the minds of men.Peace

In your times as a Christian shining, do you remember the Holy Spirit? For that reason, God is not outside but within. Though the Bible never talks about a "trinity" that most churches explain, there is God the Father, God the Son (Jesus Christ), and God the Holy Spirit, which was sent to us as our counsel and connection to God when Jesus ascended to Heaven. I've heard it explained as our conscience, but it's more than that. Jesus explained to us exactly what the Holy Spirit would do, and because of that,  those who seek God will understand Him, because the Holy Spirit resides in them. It gives them power from God to accomplish His purposes, never to puff up ourselves.

All that goes to say, we both believe in an inner power, but perhaps we differ on the nature of that power.
