My sister has three cats that look exactly alike. There are two girls and one boy and we are having a hard time coming up with the second female name!

We have Biggs because he is the biggest by a long shot. He is the least cuddly and the only one that puts up a fight when trying to do anything with them. He is clearly the king of the castle and can not be bothered to socialize with the rest of us.

Then there is Cricket. She is small and dainty and the first of the three to purr. She actually starts purring before you even touch her. She was also the first one to allow my children to pet her and hold her. She has always been the one to do her own thing and is typically off by herself or with us rather than with her brother and sister. She also seems to be the only one that meows.

And finally, there is kitty #3. She is in the middle of the other two in every aspect. She is more friendly than Biggs, but not as friendly as Cricket. She will purr but only under specific conditions. She is also my favorite and I am her favorite because she hasn't left me since I rescued her from the bathtub and box that my son hid her in. I have been calling her Corky but it doesn't seem to fit her. And since she is my favorite, I am having a hard time coming up with a name for her.

Any ideas? What have you named your animals? What would you name your cat? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. She is almost completely black with just a touch of white on her chest if that helps.....

Mirror.....do you like Bella? Just because....lol..

My dog's name is Romeo (the pet orphanage where we found him had already named him this way and we like it ). My cat was Allie because she was a stranded alley cat.

Many years I named my Italian cat, Bruce in honor of Bruce Springsteen. Another cat i had was Mohamed, for no particular reason. The dog before Romeo had been named Gunner before we got him. I hate that name with all my might so i changed it in Gunny.

I do like the name Corky a lot though....:-)

i like corky, too, but maybe it would be better if you told us a bit about her personality? i'm not getting a good sense of that, MI, and i've always felt that a pet's name should fit their personality in some fashion.

GS: i'd forgotten you named your cat for bruce. i think that's so very cool. :D

i've had two cats: the first, now deceased, was named roscoe (18 lb domestic short-hair, classic tabby with white mittens and socks). his name was inherited as he used to be my brother's-in-law. the second is bogey, another DSH but black with gold eyes. it fit b/c there's something distinctly cool about him most of the time but he gets sentimental under the right circumstances...usually food-related, come to think of it... :D

I had a wonderful, my best cat ever I named it Niki.  Then there was L B which stood for little bitch cause she was LOL  How bout Tessie/Tessy.  I like Corky too. The cat I have now I let name himself...after a few days of watching him jump around with his long legs, I named him Roo  like in kangaroo.

GS: I do like Bella but the neighbors dog is bella... if i call my cat i might get a big surprise!! LOL
I like that your dogs name is Romeo....that's a nice name. and who doesn't need at least one Romeo in there life!! :)

Ed, she is a little timid but starting to come out of her shell a little bit. She is just 'average' compared to her brother and sister. I think that is why i am having a hard time with her name. I chose corky initially because i love that name for a cat. But  there is a cat at my mothers that doesn't really have a name, so when I was 15 i started calling her corky...no one else did...they just called her kitty. So it wasn't really her name, but since she is still alive i feel weird using it....I tried...it just didn't work. bogey....that's a cute cat name. it reminds me of someone on tv.... character on one of those teen movies maybe...

quietone: lmao L B....  I wish I would have thought of that when I had my first cat how many years ago...she was rotten!  I like Tessy... i'll run that one by my kids and see if everyone can pronounce it correctly. (My seven year old didn't like a name I suggested because his brother didn't say it right.)  I wanted Camille....can you picture a three year old and seven year old saying "Come here, Camille" LOL

Mirror..oh no..please. in that case dont call her Bella. You might start the Third Wordl War in your backyard...LOL...

I agree, Tessy is really cute....a friend of mine named her daughter Camille, as in French.....she said the Italian version (Camilla) did sound enough cute...go figure...lol..

GS:  i love that name though.  I think this is what happened when I was searching for names for my kids....everyone we knew already had all the good ones! LOL

I think I might give them two choices... Tessy and Suki....(I went to a baby names website and found Suki) and see which one my kids like better. Hopefully they don't call her Sucky...instead of Suki,,,, lol

This has nothing to do with naming the cats, but my grandma once had two collies (littermates) named Corkie and Cricket. Just thought that was kinda cool that you were considering those names.

Suki is a cute name! :)

I was trying to think of something that would go along with Cricket, but nothing leaps to mind. :-D

I am partial to the name Sophie I mean it seems like it would fit your cats name more than mine... I finally decided on Sasha for my little Black cat and if Sophie isn't right for your Black Cat then maybe Shady or Shadow...  but those are just some suggestions.... oh and if you want you could name her.... Alanna.... but i don't know is there a certain letter  you want the name to start with?

Hi moms.... I was wondering what happened to you!  Why did you change your name?  I always thought that if I got another cat, I would name him or her Alegria (for short... Ale ... pronounced AH-lay)  It means "joy" in Spanish.  My three cats were named Bok Choi, Mozart and Trout.
  • mirrorimage said on Aug 01, 2007....
Eilan: LOL That is so weird!!! Great minds think alike!!

infernal: LOL... i'm going to say that tomorrow...see if anyone catches on.

agaora: seriously?? Last night I was talking to my sister as i was going through the list of baby names and I chose Sasha until i saw Sophie...and then chose that until I saw Suki....and I would have changed to Suri if tom cruise wouldn't have used it for his baby! How weird is that!!

kruu: well, someone that lives in my town knew i was blogging somewhere, heard me talking to someone and knew where i was and what name i was using. I just didn't want to feel 'censored'.  That is a nice name as well.... i like your other cat names... but i have to ask....does Ed know you have a cat named Trout?
  • kruuyai said on Aug 01, 2007....
lol... ed just found out the other day on his post about tormenting cats.  Now he can understand how much I cherish those trout smacks!  :)
  • silverwhisper said on Aug 02, 2007....
let me tell you, that was a real surprise, too, kruu!

MI: hm...kinda timid but coming out of her shell? you could call her chrysalis, or chris for short? but besides that, i'm not coming up w/ anything, i'm afraid.
