Actually, I like when somebody asks me to write in Italian and translate the meaning of my words.

  I usually hate it when people are in the room with me and speaking a second language, specially when they were talking to me and I get the feeling they are speaking about me or something they don't want me to know for whatever reason.  Kinda like whispering is rude.

  Queen......This is a forum where there are people who speak many languages. i find no offense in your use of Tagalog here. I m going to take the liberty of pointing out that there may be some cultural differences in thought about speaking in languages unfamiliar to the majority of people present.
  In my culture it is considered rude to communicate with others in a language that is not the known language for all present. As an example, if you were in my home and there were other people present some who speak Tagalog and some who speak only English I would be offended that you choose to speak Tagalog. Remember that I have lived with a Tagalog and Illicano speaking Filipino. When he would speak in his ohter languages I would feel that I was being omitted. This would be especially true when I knew that everyone in the room could speak excellent English. I could not understand the reason to communicate in a language that I didnt understand unless it was to discuss things that were not meant for me to understand.
  The exception would be if he were speaking to someone who had no knowledge of English but even then it would be considered good manners to translate the conversation for the rest of us. Please please understand Queen that I have no reason to think it rude or improper to use whatever language you are comfortable with when you are on SoulCast. I also appreciate when you teach us Tagalog words and their meanings.

But that's not really an issue of language. My wife finds it rude if we go out with a friend of mine and I spend the whole time talking about programming (which may as well be a foreign language to her).

At first I thought it was a joke of some kind, but then I just realized that this cam person is everything queen said.  And it is not a slight to anyone who doesn't speak the language........it's getting the point across to another person who understands that language better than english.

  when Cam commented in my post that he is blocking me and queen for speaking our language i felt insulted in every way... when a fellow Filipino talks to me in tagalog i do reply in tagalog too, and most often than not i even end up translating what i said in the same sentence...

  yes it is rude to talk using another language in front of someone else but only if they kept on talking that way without addressing you anymore, plus things can be translated for you if you wish to understand what was said...

  what i find more rude and unethical is when you react the way you did Cam because you didnt understand what two person was talking about, butting in someone elses conversation can be equally rude too right? Just the way you did Cam...

  it would have been simpler when you just said "kindly translate it for me because i am feeling uncomfortable"... gladly Queen and i would translate everything we have said for you.

  As much as possible Queen and I and other fellow filipinos do write and converse with all of you in english, sometimes we do remark each other in Filipino just to emphasize more what we wanted to say BUT NEVER DID WE ONCE DO IT TO SAY INSULTING WORDS ABOUT ANOTHER FELLOW SOULCASTER well.... maybe if we will say something insulting to a fellow soulcaster in our language you deserve it well Cam... yes you deserved to be talked ill behind you and infront of you!!!

  If Queen and I have made any other soulcaster uncomfortable when we speak in our native language i do apologize nevertheless be rest assured it will be translated for you if you wish for it and we keep our tagalog conversation to the minimal if you notice it.

  my blog is my home and anyone is welcome to visit it, and since it is my home we can talk in our native language if we want to. Its like visiting the Philippines and complaining why they talk in tagalog or visiting Italy and complain why they talk in Italian, or if you go to skalds post its like visiting iceland and you encounter some icelandik words...

  It was my blog, my post, my comment and my fellow countrymen that you insulted when you were just a tourist in my HOME!!!!!

Every place I've worked - we've had a policy about speaking in English only while "on the clock" but you could speak in whatever you wanted while on break. I don't normally get upset ...   Queenie:  It's pretty obvious from all the posts that you have a lot of friends here - me included I hope.  There are also lots of close-minded racists everywhere you go.  Don't let them get to you....they're not worth it.  SC is actually the first place I have ever seen tagalog written down and it is such a fascinating language.  In Canada we are great believers in multi-culturism, we celebrate our differences and try to learn from each other.  Your culture and language are very important, they are a big part of who you are.  Keep on with the tagalog lessons....I love 'em.

  Now I see how scary it is to make you angry. lol please relax your highness. It's liberating to know through your blog that each and every one of us is free to "speak" in our native tongue. It's difficult to describe how amazing it is that people from different parts of the world could communicate and become friends, albeit virtually. We all have our personal purpose in joining SC, and it is important to communicate so that we let the writer know that we "get" what is being said. I am guilty of giving comments using my native tongue. I can't help it, I feel that I can best express my opinion in Tagalog, directing what I have to say to the writer. Saying this would seem biased, but I will say it anyway, most Tagalog comments I've read  are said without malice and offense.
  
  What I'm saying is, It all boils down to respect. Respect towards the differences and towards each other. Personally, reading a foreign sentence gets me curious, but that's all it is, curiosity, but never feeling insulted. If it does not make sense to me, then it does not matter at all.

  I never assume anyone is talking about me when they speak a foreign langauge unless they keep looking at me as they speak. Your comments in Tagalog on SC were always intended for the person who's blog you were reading or a comment from another Filipino above. That's how I understood it.
